Bitcoin is faith based. Gold has 5k years of history and is inert.

Bitcoin is based on cryptography, math, supply, and demand. It is one of very few assets where supply is fixed and known. No matter how much demand changes, supply cannot be changed. Gold cannot make the same claim. When price goes up, more supply is created. About 200,000 tons of gold has been mined so far, and about 2500 tons are still mined every year, thousands of years later. Nobody knows for sure how much gold is left to be mined. I agree that inert is a good word for gold these days. It can't even keep up with inflation anymore.
