I adore the shot of the cat as you come home...jumping around saying, "WooHoo, they're finally home". Thank you for showing so much of the bookbinding. There are many videos that show enough of the fine details like fanning out the jute on the binding. I must admit, I am utterly envious of your home...but I would never think to deprive you of the joy of living there. Many Blessings for the Happiest of New Year.

My Yorkshire Grandmother wore 2 large pockets tied around her waist, between her day dress & apron. I asked her what the pockets were for, so she sat me down & started emptying them out. Small scissors, pocket knife, bits of thread, odd buttons, a key... and a small pouch of dried lichen. "well now, that's where ee got to" 😅 I'm told I take after her... a thought that warms my heart. She was a tough lady (like Scott's gr. gram) you didn't mess with, I treasure her memory 💞

If there's an apocalypse, I'm moving to Scotland because of course you know how to bind a book and you know what old man's beard is for and how to use it and how to use seaweed in your garden bed and how to make scones and point your stone walls. The only problems are how to get across the ocean if there's an apocalypse and I wouldn't be doing any of that wearing a dress or skirt. It's pants for me or the apocalypse can just take me. We all have our priorities.

Katie you mentioned that you loved rebinding old books. I love the way you took such care and lovingly restored your mums old cookbook. I have two old books The Life of Daniel O'Connell's by Sister M . F Cusack published in 1872 and The Life and Explorations of Dr. Livingstone which I think was published around the same time perhaps a little later both are covered in tooled leather the latter front cover has split from the spine I accidentally bumped it one day. I was so upset as I love old books and antiques. if you are interested I could email you some photographs I would like to gift them to you and would pay to ship them to you. Ann from downunder.😀

beautiful work you all are doing! one note: it is important to only harvest lichen from ground fall, it has a symbiotic relationship with the host tree, and should be taken in the fall or windy season when it falls off fresh onto the ground of its own accord. twigs and branches that fall area great way to harvest lots of it. please don’t remove it from your trees, it is a lifelong symbiosis.

Well, we don't have Boxing Day, but we do hang out, eat loads of leftovers, watch football if there's a game or two (or three). I have a Mrs. Beeton's...somewhere. I don't think I've ever seen old man's beard except in pictures. I read, somewhere, you could apply it directly to cuts and open wounds.

Old man's beard is a great antibiotic for lung infections, use it mix in honey and a little lemon juice.

What can I say…. You both deserve a much needed break after pushing that enormous bookcase over a stoney path to your home. That bath tub would be handy to have a long soak in to soothe sore muscles. Take care and remember to have a break once in awhile, so you both don’t burn out. Blessings to you from Australia 😊
