From Dayton VA. I really enjoy watching you cook. I get so many ideas from you because I’m also allergic to dairy. I’ve always been a little hesitant about coconut milk and cream and now I’m tossing it around like a pro from watching your videos. I know you don’t see this in yourself but you have a lovely calm manner without being too slow. Your voice isn’t squeaky I.e. annoying! like so many on KZbin and you explain without being boring or long winded. People genuinely want to help you and Darrell because you are so hardworking and never complain. You just get on with it and make it work and keep moving forward. So don’t be weirded out by the generosity of your viewers. Or worry too much about why you are so popular. You’re you and we like that. It’s that simple.

i am so excited to see the progress on the building and the cat breaks always make your videos even better. look i don't understand why i like watching people cook their daily food even when i know and they know it's a lot of the same thing over and over again but it is soothingly entertaining. it's like when you were a little kid sitting on a stool watching your grandma cook and her just telling you how to do it and how things have been going. i love it. so don't change the way you do things just do more of them more often because waiting on your next video is my only problem though i know you all are busy working on new space and i can't wait to see it all finished.

I am today years old making chicken broth. A week ago I ordered a stovetop pressure cooker online, 4l as just the 2 of us as empty nesters, it arrived Thursday. 1.5 hours later I have delicious bone broth and bones that disintegrate on contact to blitz to a paste for my 8 yr old labrador! You've changed my life Nyssa! I'm no longer terrified of pressure cookers 🎉

You may be amazed people are watching you, but I’m just amazed at all you do! So organized, creative, and productive. And am I right in thinking that the breezeway area between the house and the addition has now become part of your house since you’ve enclosed the sides? Looks like you’ve gained a lot of living space. 👏
@OurSmallFootprint
@OurSmallFootprint 3 ай бұрын
Yes, it was always the plan, because we can't heat the bedrooms unless that was sealed as well, but we've got openable doors planned for each end and they'll be screened so that we can have them both open during summer and still have that breezeway effect to help cool things down! It's why I went so wide with it, so it could be used, D and I will prob move our offices out there and then open up the inside so the kids can spread out more in the living space in the current building , I'm trying to find a cheap fireplace too for out there so that we can have additional heating for those couple of really cold months we get :D

@@BonnyP-69r I'd prefer something more like a small enclosed fire place or a pot belly, only for efficiency's sake, enclosed ones tend to heat the space more effectively and you can bank them for overnight kinda thing, it's a fairly large space once we open it all up, the main space we have/had has a fireplace in it and is 6 x 12, and we struggle to keep it warm all night, this is adding on another 6 x 9 plus a little extra.

My kids too are eating more and I am adjusting my portions. Sometimes I make two pans and we eat while the third pan is in the oven which is ready by the time we want seconds. Or I am doing extra sides: instead of just Mac & cheese with homemade garlic bread, I now also do 500-900g of veggies. Also, anything you record of your planning process for this trip, considering the extra time between trips and the kids’ changing portion sizes, would be awesome!

I was thinking I should try and buy some garlic bread and maybe try and figure out a french bread recipe that I can put garlic butter on and cover in foil, freeze for pulling out to quickly reheat with other meals! We do a 1kg bag of steamed veg plus potato generally speaking and I don't really want to bump that bag of steamed veg because it is just expensive, we do more if I have fresh though! True about putting that third tray in the oven too, that would work and if it doesn't get eaten, there's lunch for tomorrow too!

@@OurSmallFootprint I have a yeast French bread recipe I use in my breadmaker on "dough" setting, then shape into baguettes and bake. One gets eaten and one goes in the freezer. It's just a standard recipe from the bread machine book, but I can share if you like! I have decided to make all the bread items that I can, which means I still buy tortillas LOL. It would be easy for you to make French bread if you can make bagels which are complicated in comparison!

Anyway I think you will need to buy heaps of that beef trim... As your boys are getting big or more vegs like cabbage to bulk out the meal or to fill them up... Goodluck on your trip...😂😂😂

I paused at one point while they were barking, but I think sometimes I barely notice they are barking and forget to stop! It's such a normal sound for us. with the wall up in the breezeway it echoes quite badly too because no carpet/furniture! But eventually I hope to have a small verandah out the other side, further from the house/kids that I can do my voiceovers at, I'm still adapting :) we use a lot of cabbage as filler normally but they were $12 a head last trip :O

I do need to get the hot chocolate mix made up for this winter, they like that after dinner and maybe some biscuits or slices or something. But I'm also working on instant porridge flavours that will be in jars and they can just grab a scoop out, put in their thermal mugs with boiling water and have porridge with some protein added whenever they want a boost :D

I was thinking I’ve got to do the freezer shuffle/reorganise here. I saw your cat and thought, you’ve got a climber. Current cats here don’t climb at all. Great the ‘breezeway’ enclosure is coming along. Is all the plastic peeled off the panels? Got a house being built behind us now. So sad that the open space has now gone and I’ll feel more vulnerable to being seen. I think a few tree plantings will need to happen. You’re earlier away for the big shop, then I realised there is a holiday this coming week. Dog’s cancer op went ok but it’s category 2 and there is a likelihood of it returning. If so, it’ll be another op. $’s!
