Nyssa I have the trays you put the lemon juice in to freeze as well. When I need to freeze in them…in order to stack them I had purchased inexpensive flexible cutting boards from Amazon ($10 or so U.S. for a multiple set) which I lay across the top to serve as a platform for the next layer…obviously they are still not sealed but it works amazingly in providing enough structure for the ones on top while the contents freeze. Might work for you 🤔🥰

Hi Nyssa, the persians have a yellow lentil stew (served with rice) that uses crushed or powdered dried limes. Your family might enjoy it as something different. I thoroughly enjoy your videos - so practical, straight to the point & informative ❤

Weird thing I found out today... Limes are yellow when they are ripe. But we have them green as that is what we are used to. (That's what I was told). Loved seeing what you do with the fruits. Hope the rain has stopped. We had a tonne here too (over 140mls in a couple of days) lots of flood warnings. I feel bad for everyone who is being evacuated.

I googled it too to make sure but everything I read said they don’t ripen once they’re picked either and these went yellow after being picked so I have no idea! They still tasted good! Haven’t had much more than a sprinkle today and I think similar is forecast tomorrow, so I think we’re good for the moment!

You could hook up a temporary clothes line in the breeze way, it might help with the washing. We are on the Sunshine Coast & are also sick of the rain. Stay happy & healthy.

I have a bunch of freezer trays that don’t have lids and therefore couldn’t be stacked so I bought some of the flexible cutting boards - the really thin ones and cut them up and use those in between trays. I’d love souper cubes but they really are pricey!

You might be able to string a couple of wash lines under the roof and between the two buildings. It’s so tough getting washing dry in this rain 😅

Yes :D 5 of the 6 kids were quite severely cmpi (Cows milk protein intolerant) as babies/toddlers, there was some hospital stays and some hypoallergenic feeding and some restricted diets etc and I had to remove it all to nurse etc. They have improved immeasurably as they got older, and we now do fermented dairy, like yoghurt and milk kefir as the allergist suggested trying them and they seem to tolerate it fine, but we still try not to overdo it. But I've stopped being as pedantic about things like from the hampers that 'may contain dairy' and let them have those etc and generally speaking they've done ok, they may be able to tolerate more, but I always say they can once they have their own toilets ;) Darryl wasn't when he was younger but he had a very severe case of gastro with a hospitalisation in his 20s and from that point forward just doesn't tolerate it well, it is more of a build up for him, he might be ok having one item, or two, but then the third sets him off and he is very unwell in a myriad of ways, so its just easier for me to keep it out of everyones food and I just have my add ins occasionally :D

Love this video. So glad to see the bedrooms come together. Years ago I found a lemonade recipe that boiled the sugar water with the lemon peel and then use that for the lemonade. It continues to be my go to recipe.

I'll have to have a google, I know the Thermomix has a recipe with a whole lemon! but I haven't tried it, I like having this variety of different flavours on my shelf so I can open whatever I want when I feel like it!

Love your videos, you make way more inventive meals compared to me! 😂 On the extra rooster subject, I raise my own mostly with broody hens so they are spread through the year. I’m in SE Georgia, US and it’s very buggy here. I process only 2-5 at a time after they go to roost at night so there are fewer bugs and I can process any time of year. I skin them, so I do miss out on having that product but for me it’s a good trade off for the reduced setup and cleanup. I only need a broomstick, a place to hang them, few buckets and a clean table. Also taking them off the roost and keeping things dark minimizes stress on them and the rest of the flock. Might be worth a try for you to see if you like that method better than having a massive amount of work to do all on one day.

We have been skinning them the last couple of times too, so much quicker! We haven't had much luck hatching eggs in the pens, unfortunately, though we do have an Australorp sitting on a nest atm, so we'll see how that goes! I generally hatch with an incubator so we end up with that influx all at once, sometimes its a good thing, getting it all over and done with in one go and only having to do it a couple of times a year!

The thing I love about super cubes besides the lids is there is a sturdy wire around the rim so the trays don’t bend and flex

Lemon chung looks good. My lemon tree is miniature "Lots of Lemon". Very prolific fruit, good size, long growing period. It's still raining here. Cya.

Hey Nyssa🥰 Oh cool thank you for explaining the ends of the breezeway! That’s a huge area on the breezeway to use for inside space. I couldn’t hear Karvak hopping area but glad his foot is starting to heal up. Brave boy 🤩 Yum lime/vanilla cordial!!!! I’m going give that one a try! I’ve got heaps lemons atm moment & want to try making lemon jung. Thank for showing us how to make it & great tip with making it straight into the jars. You are an amazing teacher, so clear with the steps. It really encourages me to give things a go. Mmmmmm vanilla slice!!!! My favourite but I haven’t had one in years coz I can’t tolerate dairy. I’m going to try and make one with my version of custard that’s dairy free, even if it doesn’t set up properly I’m sure it will taste good lol! It healed up really well, I was surprised by how good it looks actually considering it didn’t look real great after the first couple of days, he just has to favour it a little while it finished healing!

Totally agree. I love the kitchen aid juicer except that it is way up in the air and I have nothing to do it low so I only use it when my husband can use it. I use a small one that isn’t electric when I only have a few. Lime vanilla sounds yummy.

me too, we've got a few other things that needs doing first but its on the list, it really wouldn't be too much solar needed, it just needs to be on its own so that I can assess usage and it doesn't impact everything else negatively!

After all this time, it finally clicked in my brain about your cordial making. We totally have a drink bar set-up. Duh! I ♡ making drinks. Usually non- alcoholic for me, because I drink beer, but it's good to experiment both ways. My son is more likely to make cocktails. We even make different teas.

What do you do with all the rinds?? You should stuff them in a large jar and poor vinegar over them. This makes a concentrated cleaning solution. The longer they sit, the better. 😊

We do that a lot, mostly with orange though, I had planned to dehydrate some and then fill with firestarter materials and parrafin as well, but I didn't make it there, sometimes its really hard to get to everything in the shorter time periods sometimes, we have a very very neglected compost pile that we put a lot of things we shouldn't on, and tbh, we dump a lot of the citrus peels on there, which is so bad for it, but we just haven't got to the whole composting thing properly yet!

Making sure you take inventory of your fridges/freezers pantry, because that will help you to realise how much you go through, or what you were short of etc, and what you don't need! Knowing how much and what you eat in a period (or two) is key to not overspending and to make sure you don't have waste! :D

@@BecMcIntosh It seems pedantic to some hehe, but I work out daily percentages of weight of meat and flour and all sorts of things in my equations, but I like maths and statistics etc, so its not so much work as partly an enjoyable overall picture! :D I tend to look up the standards of meat per person in servings etc too, which I did recently because we seem to be going through more meat than usual, I don't necessarily follow the 'standards' but it is a measuring stick to use.

I would love to know the name of the artist/song that you use in your intro/outro. I was having a lime/vodka/sparkling water drink when you mentioned that! Had to use crystal light lemon lime but 3 packages to 1L of water work well. 50 mls of that, add vodka, or not, top up with sparkling water.

I use the syrup over chicken etc, like a lemon sauce from a chinese shop, and the slices are lovely in tea, hot water/lemon/honey type drinks, once dehydrated they're good in tea mixes as well, in anything you pressure cook/slow cook you can use them and they break down, a bit like using the preserved lemons too! :D
