Another awesome review as usual. I’m curious to see you review the Cordless HP table saw and 10” sliding miter saw.

First thing I would not like is having two guide rails sections that are the same length. If you want to do some crosscutting a shorter rail would be nice, especially if the kit came with a squaring head so you could just lay it down, square off and cut without any clamps or tools needed. So a 34 and a 20 inch rail would give you the ability to crosscut a full sheet of plywood but also to do much more. An accessory 66 or 68 inch rail would give you the capacity to rip a sheet of ply lengthwise using only two pieces of track. Trying to use three pieces would be a pain to try to keep straight. A 108" track would be nice option too. I can say from experience that working with a two-piece guide rail when ripping full sheets of plywood can be a pain. It slows you down at the least but can lead to inaccurate cuts. The depth of cut scale should have markings for both with and without the track. Or if only one it should be for WITH the track since that is the intended use of the saw. Not thrilled with a plastic base, that looks very flimsy. Could have been re-enforced with a couple metal rods or just made of cast aluminum to begin with and add $5 to the cost of the saw if they had to. The riving knife helps keep the work from closing in on the back side of the blade which can cause the saw to very quickly kick back toward the operator and cut you. All the other track saws on the market have it though they appear to be better thought our than this Ryobi version, mostly because they retract automatically. I am surprised to see that the Ryobi riving knife extends below the bottom of the blade. That will be a pain and cause people to not use it which is a poor design. It might meet the requirements of the CPSC for a riving knife, but it's a poor design. When companies make safety features that are difficult to use, they will be bypassed or eliminated which just puts the operator at risk necessarily. If using aftermarket blades, watch out for different tooth thicknesses. Wider teeth will require more power to cut but also your splinter guard (that rubber strip on the track) may be recut to the new blade width. It's only a fraction of a mm but be aware it will happen though not likely to have any adverse affect even when you go back to the OEM blade. Be sure to adjust the play out of the guide rail before making your first cut. Because setting the saw to remove any side play will shift the position of the blade left or right slightly. I haven't read the manual for this saw but if it's like the two track saws I own now you want minimal side play and very little friction for best performance. My comments are not meant as a 'thumbs down' to your video, just offering my comments based on my experience with both the DeWalt and Festool track saws over the past 10 years.

I was really surprised how much cutting power (and torque) this saw had out of the box. I've used other (10" saws) previously and was pretty surprised with the speed and cutting ability of this Dewalt saw.I have bolted mine to a table to minimize movement which I highly recommend.This is a Great saw kzbin.infoUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe with a light to see your cutting line (not a laser line).I'd recommend this saw fro anyone looking to upgrade from a 10" miter saw.

Another review said this saw wasnt up to much. Tracks didnt line up snagging saw, extractor port non swivel and dust flys everywhere. (Had to make a cover for hole in the cover) plastic everything including base, supplied with only one clamp, rubber lip splitting after a couple of weeks, etc, etc.

so, even though you loosened the fitment to the track up and there was some slop introduced between the saw base and the track, it still cut perfectly straight?

Great review, very helpful! I currently had a Festool TS 55 REQ. recently I used it and it was making some weird noise and started to smoke. I called Festool repair and was informed that the cost for worst-case would be about 1/2 the cost of a new saw. I did not ask but assumed the cost of a new saw would be just the saw not the bundle package for $599. After shipping the saw to them I received an estimate of $425.51 which was a lot higher than I expected. Because I can get the "Plunge Cut Track Saw TS 55 FEQ-F-Plus" for $599 which includes the systainer (SYS3 M 337, $80) and the fine tooth saw blade W42 (495377, 48 tooth, on Amazon for $87). If I subtract the cost of the two from the package the saw would sell for $432 which is VERY near the cost of the repair. After watching your review and others for the RYOBI saw I've decided it is not the saw for me. I think I will be going with a new Festool and I'm leaning toward the corded unit at $599, the Festool Battery unit, without the track (I could use the track from my current unit) would cost $699, e.g. another $100. I don't think the battery unit would be helpful enough for me to justify the extra $100.

The $100k question that no one reviewing this saw seems to want to address, will the saw run on a Makita/Festool/PowerTec compatible track? I have 110" of PowerTec track right now and would consider this little saw (alone) as a backup saw if it will work on my tracks. So will it?

Does not look like the track match’s that style to me. I would be curious if it might match the Boesch or the Dewalt style tracks or maybe even the Kreg’s. If they do not match any other style it will be a mistake by Ryobi. You also have accessories like track squares guys own that will stop people from looking at it. I would have looked at it, because it is cordless, but it does not work with my track square.

@warrensmith2902
@warrensmith2902 2 жыл бұрын
The corded version is the WEN CT1272. Other reviews on KZbin indicate that the WEN can use the Makita tracks with the anti-tipover feature( It has a lip), and the it can be use on the Festool rail as well (Without the tipover feature, no lip). Course you will have to replace and recut your splinter guard for the correct spacing. Look for a KZbin review that compares the Festool, Kreg, and WEN.

2 different sized Alen Keys clearly shows that this is a Beta version Ryobi released to market for feedback. The Mk2 version will likely incorporate fixes for many of the 10+ flaws ALL reviewers have highlighted. That this saw can not plunge cut with the riving blade installed shows that Ryobi's legal team screwed up on risk management. You would think by now the Ryobi would have learnt (from it's competitors) to have any new /updated product tested by professionals and DIYers before finalising the tool design prior to market release. That this tracksaw is incompatable with track from other brands again demonstrates Ryobi's short sightedness as does the short track length and single clamp. This product release seems to be a deliberate atempt to see how many customers using the Ryobi battery platform can be P*SS*D OFF by a not so well thought out tool. This Ryobi tool seems to have provoked the ire of most, if not all, reviewers. I'm on the Ryobi battery platform and soon need to get a tracksaw, but will likely not buy Ryobi unless they have come out Mk2.0 that addresses the many shortcomings of this tool.
