The fact it doesn't like to start when pressed against wood is kind of nice. Because for those who are working fast and accidentally start with the blade against lumber (ME) the blade won't rip a chunk of wood like most saws would on a weird start. Like grabbing a corner and tearing out a nice splinter piece instead of having the clean cut when starting with full speed.

Get a Diablo blade,that will increase the cutting and less shredding of the material you are trying to cut.

I feel like Ryobi really took their fans opinions on this one. This is an excellent looking tools and it sounds, from the review, that it performs. I will gladly be picking this up the next time im at THD, thanks for the review!

I've watched this and more than a few others on your channel. I've had since had the opportunity to use this saw, along with the DeWalt brushless 6 1/2". And, I have to say, while the DeWalt is truly exceptional, feels great, excellent line... well, being left-blade(trim-saw), they both have an excellent line of sight. Id rather use either one of these saws with a straight edge, instead of a dedicated track saw, most of the time. For bigger jobs, thicker material and whatnot, I'm still grag my rear handle 7 1/4", but again it's left-blade also. Framers, and Trim guys prefer left blade. It just more natural and far less stressful on the jobsite, it keeps your posture better while you're working. Before I started rambling, I wanted to say that this new RYOBI 6-1/2" is quite impressive. If you're small time and just getting started, and you're on this platform, get this saw, and use it for a couple 2 maybe even 3years, and trade up as you level up and grow. Maybe RYOBI will have 'stacked- lithium batteries' like all the bigboy tool manufacturers. 😎🤓🤠 You can make money with a lot of RYOBI tools. It's the person behind the tool guys more than the tool. Is RYOBI equal to the top contractor brands, in some things, Yes. But DIY is their primary target.

I burnt up my 5-1/4” one plus. I just picked this one up. Way better. Love the table, cuts accurate, and feels great. The only complaint is the guard, it feels weak, but overall really impressive.

In what way it's better than the 7 1/4?
@frednavarro8667
@frednavarro8667 10 ай бұрын
I have both. The 6 1/2 shoe is thicker thus feeling better quality. The angle gauge is not plastic like the 7 1/4. The dust collection seems better, stronger motor, more rpm’s, blade is square to the shoe, and I have not had this saw stop on me mid cut. The 7 1/4 would from time to time. I run both with a 6ah hp battery. This to me is the better saw.

I have an 8yr old brushed version of this saw. Before I acquired the 4ah hp batts, it was a gutless turd, but it's become usable with the bigger batteries. I got it in an old packout kit from HOME DEPOT when I went there to pick up DeWalt 5 tool bundle that I'd seen an add for. The Ryobi pack had at least 3 more tools in it than the DeWalt set, and it was still cheaper. The Ryobi you're demonstrating here, has large set of hairy-galdies compared to it's old brushed cuz'n.

To answer that question- look for the "tool only" listing with includes a free gift. The better of the free gift options has 2 of the 2Ah HP batteries. The $129 deal is a separate one-line listing for tool plus starter kit as a special buy.

I can see if I was to purchase this saw, like most circular saws the blade guard gets stuck on your material. Every Makita I've ever had, or ever used has done that. Like Makitas, I've had 10 or 12 of them, but every dang one of them had that issue. I made a blade guard mod, with a short bolt, an all-metal locking nut(not the nylon insert kind!)and washer mounted near the edge of the guard so as to kick the guard up a little earlier. Totally fixed the issue and made it a dream to use.

Can't help but chuckle. I like the HP line and had wanted to pick up a circ saw. My preference is for 6-1/2 when it's a battery powered tool (especially 18v) but I noticed Ryobi didn't have a 6-1/2 in the HP lineup. Low and behold this just went on sale today here in Canada the day after the 7-1/4 got delivered. Glad to see it packs a punch, will be switching them promptly!

I'm curious, as someone looking at getting their first circular saw, what's the reason for preferring the smaller saw?
@misterritter9854
@misterritter9854 5 ай бұрын
@@karrotop They're smaller and lighter to use, and it takes less power to drive a smaller blade through material (this is obviously more evident the more demanding the cut). In both cases they aren't overly substantial differences from a 7-1/4 blade saw, but there is nothing I would be using a cordless saw for that requires me to have the cutting capacity of a 7-1/4" blade, so there is no drawback to going with the smaller saw and it's benefits, however small they are.

I have a lot of ryobi and I've noticed that in the bottom where you slide the batteries in there are a number of extremely sharp edges and sharp points not a big deal if you're aware of it but if you have a ryobi check and see how sharp those edges are down there.
