Fun Fact(Tested on AE CC 2019): You can actually copy objects from illustrator and paste them as masks on a layer in After effects. All you have to do is select the object in illustrator (or all by pressing ctrl+A) Then ctrl+C to copy. Finally, open after effects and paste this onto the layer by pressing ctrl+V and each individual object will paste as a mask :)

That IS a really good tip!

how do you paste it? it's not pasting for me and im confused. do you have a video to help me?
@feelcollins43584 жыл бұрын
@@skreeon You need to make a solid bg layer first, the shape you copied from AI will mask the solid layer in AE.

Great video thankyou. What’s the easiest way to make a product like an amplifier into 3d. Is this done in elements 3d by building up the 6 sides of the amplifier then extruding out shapes and then grouping them?
@AVUltra3 жыл бұрын
If you wanted to model something I would not recommend element. That’s not what it’s for really. Maybe a plane or a box but you really can’t do to much building. If you have after effects- you already have cinema4d installed and its way faster/better/easier to use that. Outside that there’s tons of 3D models out there for free at sketchfab or even turbo squid. I’d start there unless you needed something g you needed to design yourself.

late but how do you model a speherical object. I want to make a lantern so I masked it out but it mad it into a similar shape as seen in the video. So is there a button or something that tells element to make the object a sphere.
@AVUltra4 жыл бұрын
Ifyou have a 2d image unfortunately you cant make it round easily. The best you can do is use the replicator in element to make a bunch of overlapping copies that would make it a sphere.

I wrote one out, but never got around to recording it. Didn't see a whole lot of interest, so I shifted a lot of my lessons to other programs. Video copilot has some really great lessons on the animation engine however if you are looking for some. Be sure to check them out! -S

I got further with this than most, 8mins 43secs after following it all, selected autotrace, and nothing... hit precomp looked in Element - nothing. So after a few tries, rewatching the video over and over - I switched it off. It's been three years for me to be able to even face AE/Element. I'll just stick to what I know and leave better folk than me to do this stuff.
@AVUltra3 жыл бұрын
Element can be challenging if you are new to it. Sounds like something isn’t working with auto trace. Before giving up, try using the pen tool to create some simple shapes. Or bring in some vector paths and try element with that as a start. That’s the basis of this, and I wish I had started with that on this lesson. Thanks for your comment.

+Hitesh Gadhia Hey there! As you can see from the example- each "layer" has a new color. So basically each shape can have its own color. You will need to add more layers to make that happen. Thanks for watching.
