Is this armour bulletproof
@SparkArmoury Жыл бұрын
Could you print a top and bottom of a mould, wrap in clingfilm (to negate the mould sticking problem), and put them in a press or vice to mould carbon fibre to higher accuracy and density? Perhaps even print a mould hollow, and pouring in concrete to allow it to withstand higher preasure? A water or acetone soluble clingfilm alternative would also be incredibly effective, these are just loose ideas so I hope it helps and i would love to hear your opinion on them!

Hi Alex have you considered usinng cabinet scrapers in combination or as a replacement for sanding. In russian those scrapers are called "цикля". kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2XIan2AoM6hrM0

I love this. I was thinking about testing the same thing.. I wasn't sure if the heat from the resin setting would deform the PLA, but it looks like you didn't have any issues! Thank you very much for sharing! This method for making strong detailed parts is groundbreaking and best of all it is accessible for almost anyone to do with minimal investment in tools.

While there are plenty of steps, if you want strength, and finish I don’t think there is a more direct way to have the ease of 3D printing + strength. Fantastic work! You can make flimsy simple 3D prints until you are confident about your size and structure, then you start this process when you want to make a good looking strong part. Nice.

Just because I’m a bit curious, could you make a version of the Ray gun? I know there won’t be all the same. If it is, don’t show it. I really like how you go about everything you make. Start with close to modern day version but you also use older information from said thing you are trying to build and very advanced knowledge.

I habe the idea of using the pruduct Line-X between layers of kevlar, maybe you should do a test with that, or try with another components

I wan to make a suit capable of supersonic flight and I know that supersonic flight in such a small suit is not capable right now, i think it might be some time in the future. So I want to make the suit out of titanium, but if I make the inside with a plastic mold or carbon fiber, I don't think it will do good during thermal cycling. Unless I use super high heat resistant resin for the carbon fiber.

it's still strapped to your body and hammering those kind of detail by hand isn't really fun for a non military project if the goal is to just look cool, why bother doing something expensive when something cheaper can do the job well enough

I have to wonder if the direction of manufacturing isn't exactly right. Instead of trying to create something that's strong enough to withstand blows or projectiles. Why not focus on what you "require" to *support* the hardware you need to put into the armor. So it'd be a "support system", not an "armor". At least until technology reaches a stage where advanced polymer materials for protection are possible. Theoretically possible.
