I am glad you are back at it. I think this project is awesome and you are cool for doing it and inviting us along for the ride. Thank you.

Cool to see your progress. And I would definitely enjoy more Jabba's Palace Roll Call videos. I know those are involved and take you a while, but they are very entertaining.

How have you progressed on you R2-D2 in the last 3 years? I must admit, even with all the time COVID-19 has allowed me, that my progress has stalled. 🇨🇦

I’ve done more than you see in this video, as you can see here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZCueaGgaZemodk. But it’s still not done unfortunately
@timmc60097 жыл бұрын
That's a LOT of printing right there lol. Are the plans to have it wired up with lights and sounds of just a static model?
@MightyJabbasCollection7 жыл бұрын
It's mostly intended to be a static model. It's possible I might add some sound effects or something like that, but it definitely won't be an actual moving R2. Mr. Baddeley is actually making his move around and so forth, but that's beyond me.

Would you consider selling the information needed to print one of these? My friend has access to a large 3d printer, and we had talked about wanting to print some life size R2s

What kind of 3D prettier did you use

Hows your R2D2 coming a long? can i use ver2 legs on the ver1 frame?
@NolanCreate7 жыл бұрын
So did they swap you for the older printer? or you still have the older one? That problem is common on that model printer and can in some cases be easily fixed. The progress is awesome, very much tuned into your progress as I must build an R unit to stand with my E.T. Looking forward to your progress!

+NolanC 3DPrint Works I sent the printer in for service and they identified several issues. Basically they said it wouldn't make financial sense to repair it given the issues it had and the amount it had been used, and offered to replace it with a refurb with a new warranty for around $175. Also, my credit card company offers an extended warranty service for things purchased with the card, so they ended up reimbursing me for what I paid.
@NolanCreate7 жыл бұрын
Wow good deal, glad to see that kind of support from them.

Is in your opinion the CR10 S4 a significant better choice than the standard CR 10?
@MightyJabbasCollection7 жыл бұрын
Depends if you want to be printing very large things. As I mention in my review of the S4, you can pretty much get two standard CR-10s for the price of the CR-10 S4, and in many cases it may be more convenient to have two slightly smaller printers that you can use to print two things at the same time. But if the things you want to print are too big for the regular CR-10, it can be a big pain to have to be cutting up your models to fit the bed

Hi Jabba I like your videos
@TheGeronimojack7 жыл бұрын
If you still have the old frame, would you consider selling it. I am a very experienced builder and I would love to get the old frame from you no matter how bad it might be,
@MightyJabbasCollection7 жыл бұрын
+TheGeronimojack I would in theory but I really don’t think it’s a good idea to use it. The new design is better and has a lot more features. I think you’d be better off just starting with the updated design

@darrenlittle87046 жыл бұрын
Can you tell me what size printer bed i would need to print this r2 build please?
@MightyJabbasCollection6 жыл бұрын
The designer has a couple of different size cuts of the files, and of course it is possible to further split files up to fit on a smaller bed. I would think you would want something at least 20 cm wide at its longest point to fit the largest pieces, although the printer I did most of this on (Dremel 3D Idea Builder) is actually smaller than that.
@darrenlittle87046 жыл бұрын
Mighty Jabba's Collection thanks for the reply, I can’t wait to get this project going. Printer coming Friday:) The bed is 20x20
@studionulzevenzeven51885 жыл бұрын
How big does the print bed have to be? is 220 x 220 ?
@MightyJabbasCollection5 жыл бұрын
You can do it even with a pretty small printer but you will have to do a lot more gluing of parts together. Ideally you would probably want soemething close to the CR-10 or larger
@studionulzevenzeven51885 жыл бұрын
@@MightyJabbasCollection thank you for your quick response!

What kind of plastic did you use for R2? ABS, PLA?
@MightyJabbasCollection7 жыл бұрын
I used PLA. Others have used ABS.
@fanatic28667 жыл бұрын
Mighty Jabba's Collection I'm always not shure, is PLA strong enough to make a functional R2? I always thought PLA breaks easily
@MightyJabbasCollection7 жыл бұрын
PLA can be brittle. This R2 is basically just a static model so it doesn't need to be super strong. But if you want an R2 that moves ABS would probably be the better choice. However, it is harder to print
@fanatic28667 жыл бұрын
Mighty Jabba's Collection i believe to print ABS on the CR 10 you would need to make a custum enclosure
@farscape31007 жыл бұрын
hi what kid of time are we talking to print that ?
@MightyJabbasCollection7 жыл бұрын
+farscape3100 I haven't been keeping track, but likely in the thousands of hours.
@MightyJabbasCollection7 жыл бұрын
+farscape3100 Well, maybe it would be more accurate to say 1,000+ hours. As I say, I lost track long ago, so this is just a guess. But it's a lot.
@Greybush6 жыл бұрын
Not sure if this was addressed but how many spools have you gone through at this point of progress?
@MightyJabbasCollection6 жыл бұрын
I didn't keep track, and I also had a lot of false starts such as the whole frame that I ended up scrapping, so it is difficult to even guess. But with filament prices so low these days its really not all that much
@Greybush6 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the reply, I use Hatchbox PLA and it's about $34 CAD for a 1kg spool. What do you recommend for a lower priced quality filament?
@MightyJabbasCollection6 жыл бұрын
TheGoodtheBadtheAwesome I mostly used 3D Solutech filament from Amazon, which is around $15 or $16 USD.
@Greybush6 жыл бұрын
Very much appreciated, I'll give it a try
@EdwardChew7 жыл бұрын
Hey there. I see the surface is very smooth, is it sanded too?
@MightyJabbasCollection7 жыл бұрын
Some of it is, yes. The body basically wasn't sanded at all at the point I made this video, though.
@EdwardChew7 жыл бұрын
+Mighty Jabba's Collection - waw they look so smooth like it's prepped!
@Greybush6 жыл бұрын
Did you use the same infills as the instructions?
@MightyJabbasCollection6 жыл бұрын
I don't really remember what I did. But I think the number of perimeters (wall thickness) may be more important than the amount of infill for this
@skyrim47137 жыл бұрын

210mm by 210mm by 210mm also you did not link where we can get the models.
@MightyJabbasCollection7 жыл бұрын
I linked to the Patreon page of the creator of the models, and he has a link there to where you can download them, but they are also on Thingiverse: www.thingiverse.com/mrbaddeley/designs In terms of the printer size, that sounds like it would probably be good enough, at least for the majority of pieces. If a small number of pieces don't fit you can also split them up.
@mcsdaver7 жыл бұрын
I have Star Trek models on thingiverse if you want any of those. Free downloads!
@AndrewGilmour-qld7 жыл бұрын
Do you have a link to the files, and what format are they
@MightyJabbasCollection7 жыл бұрын
+Andrew Gilmour You can download the stl files from the Patreon link in the description (they're free -- no need to be a patron). They are also available in Thingiverse but they may not be up to date.

i have a Eaglemoss v3 3d printer but its crap. so getting a Anet A8 and up grade it
@mattkan28767 жыл бұрын
What 3D printer do you use ?
@MightyJabbasCollection7 жыл бұрын
R2 was entirely printed on a Dremel 3D Idea Builder, but I wouldn't recommend it because it lacks a heated bed. I encountered some warping that make the parts not fit as well as they should. I will be switching over to the Creality CR-10 for the remainder that I have to print (mostly just the feet at this point).
