I'm a huge fan of all rimfire guns, especially the 10/22, so when the files dropped on Deterrence Dispensed for their printable 10/22 receiver, I had to download it and print one out! Here's the final product, a compact, fully custom Charger style pistol build.

No since it wasn't made by Ruger it isn't actually a 10/22. If I built a Lambo chassis/ body kit from scratch and then bought a bunch of parts that fit it and make it look like a Lambo did I build a Lambo?
@lucifer2b666
@lucifer2b666 2 ай бұрын
@@anonymouse7394 If you followed the design or blueprints of a real lambo then yes. It wouldn't be as valuable though because it wasn't a commissioned lambo by the company, made with their level of quality control and testing. If you managed to make a high quality lambo though, it would be a lambo and it would be valuable.

You should probably add a very important note that you CAN NOT under any circumstances transfer said home made weapons. If you print this reciever yourself DO NOT attempt to sell or otherwise transfer ownership to anyone else. This could be especially important for anyone running a 3d printing farm etc.

Eh, debatable. If you make it with the intention to sell, that’s illegal. If you make it, get bored of it, and decide to sell or transfer it later, that’s generally allowed by the ATF provided you serialize it. I’m not a lawyer though, I just run their multi-million dollar marketing campaigns, lol.

@@jackdolezal9742 lol. I know what you mean. In a sense it kind of does, just not by force if you know the spirit of the 2nd Amendment (and the Founding Fathers) and the history of the Militia. ALL MEN 17-45 were (are) militia, trained to arms and having their own firearms (minutemen). The only people that weren't militia were people that had some kind of exemption or belief that made it "wrong" for them to own firearms or to commit violence (though this doesn't really exist, it is to make it a Choice by not forcing people to be part of the militia). Sorry for the rant. We just foolishly allowed the militia to dissolve, giving the federal government all the power and ability to go after firearms (because after generations, we have ignorant people who never owned of fired a gun before)... and of course, people always want to rule by their ignorance (If they weren't ignorant, they wouldn't want to rule/control).

10/22 is remarkably easy to turn full auto, the legal part not so easy.
@DaveSmith-cp5kj
@DaveSmith-cp5kj 3 жыл бұрын
@@xmrpaintx1 10/22 is actually one of the more difficult firearms to make full auto. What makes it difficult is not just the fact that the trigger group is small, but due to the weak recoil spring there is a lot of bolt bounce. The 10/22 bolt is designed where it can't fire out of battery so you get a lot of failures to fire on an improper full auto 10/22. Many people who bought a registered 10/22 "auto sear" get low key scammed on this as very few people knew how to properly make the 10/22 full auto. There are two ways to arrest the bolt bounce, the best is to create a secondary disconnector that interacts with a cut groove on the bottom of the bolt. This holds the hammer back until the bolt is stationary. Another option is to add a counterweight to the back of the bolt similar to an AR buffer design. It is less effective however, but does not require a milling machine. This is why you don't see a lot of full auto machine shops offering a full auto 10/22 as one of their offerings to shoot. Very few SOT have the skills and knowledge to do the modification correctly.

I just bought a stock and take off barrel to start this project. My question is did you research the legality of it? Your gun is much cooler than a Charger 22 from Ruger and it's the look I would go for. But since I'm not setup to print the receiver I intend to buy a new one from Brownell's or Ruger. I ASSUME that would be legal for a pistol build but not sure. Roger has new receivers marked ' Charger" and I would feel safer using that but they cost about twice what the Brownell's model goes for. I just assume that since there are now 10/22 rifles AND pistols in the world that a new unused receiver would be just like a new AR lower. As in it could be a pistol or a rifle legally. But am I wrong or missing something important?

Legally required in the tyrannical states of the US, it needs a specific amount of weight to comply with the “undetectable firearms” bill to be legal in that country (in a free country you could have an all plastic handgun, and I’m sure criminals here follow all these laws...) People have made all plastic printed firearms like one of the very first ones, the liberator: which is exceptionally terrible but at least .22 is a good small round for a plastic barrel. But it’s a garbage single shot. Since the liberator was designed in the US they had to do stupid requirements like rifle the barrel (otherwise that’s illegal), and add holes to add metal weights (otherwise that’s illegal), but it doesn’t actually need any metal to function (I think it used a small nail for the firing pin, which I think is typical for printed firearms since that’s way more robust than plastic if you want it to last a while). Id recommend to always make the barrel metal or carbon fiber, something better than plastic even though plastic can technically be used for safety reasons I’d recommend not using it.

@@craiven3527 true, but I like the old fasion way better. The idea of getting a side quest to get the Tinkerer's and 3d printer workbenches and recipes and blueprints for ammo and weapon parts. plus they could be a step up from the pipe guns and crude blowbacks and the like. edit: plus the PA Luty's SMG is also a good fit for Fallout games.

If you’re really good with 3D printing you can make a whole ass body with a custom grip, and stock. Or foldable stock.

Anyone can legally make their own receivers without any problems, provided they can legally own guns in the first place. No need to be a gunsmith.

I have a hard time believing the $130 parts price. Bolts and trigger assemblies alone are hard to find for less than $80 each.
@booliganshootingsports
@booliganshootingsports 3 жыл бұрын
The prices on parts have skyrocketed on Ebay since the design files were released, moreso after this video came out. I bought my parts before they were released when the parts prices were still normal. I paid $30 for a barrel, $35 for bolt/handle/all springs, $10 for pins, screws, and a v block, $25 locally for a stock that I cut down myself, and $30 or so for the trigger components that I needed. There are definitely still deals to be found, I bought a whole additional barrel and trigger group locally for $40.
