WoW for being a newbie sculpting with Nomad to see the levels of resin printing in 3D and what you can create…soooo good! Such a helpful informative process video, Excellent…for me it was like watching TV for the first time…mouth open with my eyes buggin out 😳😄👍

I'm also a More is more Support printer kinda guy. I've gotten very good at the orientation of the part to still minimize the amount but definitely over-support and support my supports. I also went the "Washable" route. One: Less clean up mess as it's water soluble, and two: ISP was really hard to find during this pandemic. Hollowing, is a slippery slope. The main thing to remember is that you MUST clean the interior completely. Uncured resin left inside will warp and possible crack the cured resin. This can be quick or take several days to appear. Also some holloed parts need supports within the hollow.
@eric3dee2 жыл бұрын
I use washable sometimes too- the biggest challenge with washable is disposing of the dirty water :/. Also, washable has bigger issues with the cracking/warping with hollow prints than other resins in my experience. Currently, I'm using the Siraya because I'm also doing things with printing injectable molds and Siraya sculpt is a high temp resin.

Great vid! I’ve started resin printing and love the level of detail I can get compared to my Anet A8 FDM printer. I’m going to try using Methylated spirits as the cleaning agent as it’s cheaper and easier to get in bulk here in New Zealand!. Another thing I found on the web is clean first then using hot water, soak the entire print in it for about 2 seconds and the supports pop off so easily. I haven’t got a whambam plate yet but it’s definitely on the to get list! Thanks so much for sharing this vid for us!

The WhamBam plates are a game changer. They should be standard. I spent too many times hacking away at a build plate with a scraper-no more!

Great video. How much memory on a new iPad would you recommend to run and store a good number of files with this software and which pencil would you recommend getting? After watching your videos me going from parametric modeling to sculpting should be fun and interesting.

Not really sure on recommended specs. I use a 2019 iPad Pro and it has been plenty fine for me so far!

Definitely iPad Pro, Do you think 512GB will be good as far as memory size or the 1TB

Great video! Do you have to re-level the build plate after each print with that wam bam plate?
@eric3dee Жыл бұрын
Nope! One of the many reasons I love the flex plate!
@crazylegsmurphy2 жыл бұрын
I am sure someone has mentioned it, but you really should not be handling uncured resin with bare hands for multiple reasons. One being that before the outer layers are cured, that resin is still dangerous to be touching. It is also soft meaning you have a greater chance of leaving finger prints in the parts. Always wear gloves when handling uncured resin.

Great sculpt. How do you deal with the detail loss of voxel remeshing? I still export everything pit of nomad to another app like Zbrush or Blender to avoid the detail loss with booleans. Until Nomad comes up with a better Boolean engine, I can’t justify the detail loss.
@eric3dee2 жыл бұрын
I remesh up as I go so I don't really lose detail, and I decimate when finished to keep the file size light. I have a pretty good sense typically of how high my detail needs to be for the size I want to print/render at as well. I'm typically not too concerned about having more detail than I need.
@DisgruntledPigumon2 жыл бұрын
@@eric3dee that’s good to hear. And you iPad has no trouble handling the high poly count? Anyway, your sculpt is amazing, I hope it’s selling well!
@eric3dee2 жыл бұрын
@@DisgruntledPigumon No trouble. But again, I use just as much detail as I need-no more than that, no less.

Wow was woundering about printing 🤣 so it is wise to have the model in mind for printing while making it so you don't have to go back and make to much adjustments cause of making weird for a printer to print
@eric3dee2 жыл бұрын
This sculpt wasn't done with printing in mind but it did work well for it. There are certainly things to take into consideration for printing (part thickness, weight and balance) but a lot of that intuition just comes from doing a lot of printing :)
@esmokebaby2 жыл бұрын
@@eric3dee ya when I get my iPad iama make some 3d models of my daughter and print them hopfuly I can get mine to work right never was good at it its filament printer I mean I got it to work right just haven't got the leveling 100% so I would always see gaps 🤣
@eric3dee2 жыл бұрын
@@esmokebaby resin printing is a good deal more complicated and messier than FDM, but the results are well worth it. Good luck!

When you merge layers for 3d printing, do you voxel merge or simple merge? I had a problem once when i simple merged my objects and tried to print a model that was hollow… whats your process?
@eric3dee2 жыл бұрын
Voxel merge at a high resolution, then I decimate down to reduce.

May i ask you this, i sent some figures for a 3d printer service. I wanted him to print in hollow, but he said when printing in hollow, the figure would be not stable and easy to break. Is it true? 😩
@eric3dee2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the thickness of the walls and what material is being used. As long as you aren't dropping a model or throwing it on the ground, dlp resins like used in this video are pretty substantial and hollowing is pretty commonplace.

Here’s a bit of history about Popeye. The cartoon character was actually based off a real Popeye who was a sailor. He was always in a fight.
