I work on a model and this is the exact problem I was trying to solve, luckily this video randomly popped up! :D Thanks man

Even works in Blender like this. Thank you, this is a neat quick tip, i will share this among my friends :)

Nice tip! Only thing I'd add is to work in clay mode, or pick a darker object colour for these videos. The light blue, white edged faces and the lighting reflection all made the details a bit difficult to make out

I love your videos and they really help me understanding the techniques I'm using and improving them. One thing. Could you turn up your mic a bit when recording? The volume is very low.

Suprised to see my Efbot as Reference :-) I like your modeling tutorial videos.

Excellent and fast tip. In cinema 4d, the offset must be raised to 100, and the "limit" box must be activated, then the points of the superimposed support lines remain and must be welded. It is an extra annoying step. But the technique you show here works perfectly. Thank you.

quite useful tip. but the edges lines were hard to see.

I couldn't understand why he would use a plane as the background and use non-contrast colors. Most of the video he was just doing stuff that was invisible. And the audio level is way too low in this video.

Alternatively you could create the shape as a spline, fillet the corner, use outline then extrude into a 3D object.

Cool Tip - Thanks for Sharing … in Blender you have the option to bevel with a Prozent ratio so you don’t need the support edges - very useful :)

is there any way to replicete this behaviour in maya?
@AlexTsekot3 жыл бұрын
Try using the bridge tool instead and setting the interpolation to "Blend"

very hard to see the actual work, the color choices were not optimal. Which sucks because your pace, your direction, all seem on point.

I would suggest get both ends of say a pipe and bridge them together where you want the bend, in the little menu you get go down to 'curve type' and change it from 'linear' to 'blend' and then add the necessary amount of divisions and you should get the same effect, maybe need a little bit of needed tweaking but that's how i would do it at least in Maya

If you or anyone's watching this still looking for a solution, I have two: 1) use Wedge Tool script gumroad.com/l/JDOtN 2) convert the corner edges into curves, rebuild, smooth, loft, convert to poly, combine, weld

If you don't do any heavy duty and scene assembly, just hard surface modeling, then you should give Blender a shot. It's superior to 3ds Max in terms of modeling efficiency. The basic bread and butter features like bevels, extrudes and insets just work much better in there. In 3ds Max, it's 50% time spent on using tools to create some sort of topology, and other 50% of the time spent cleaning up after wrong mesh tool operations. Blender, especially with things like HardOps and MeshMachine will save you heaps of time ;)

Maybe, but max is fine too. Everyone's brain works a little differently. I had a terrible time with the way blender worked, but max made so much more sense to me. I've been working with it for about a year and a half and have a whole workflow built up in there. I'll give blender a go again sometime, but everybody's different!
