something i heard that helps: for glossy/reflective surfaces, it can help to put rubbing alcohol and baby powder in a spray bottle. after spraying the object, the alcohol will evaporate and leave a powder dust. this dusty surface is easier for scanners to pick up and easy to wipe off
@Golding87X11 ай бұрын
We use white developer spray at work for shiny surfaces. Makes a massive difference. There is also stuff just called scanning spray, which is pretty much the same thing I'm guessing.

To make scanning glossy items easier, you can spray it with matt hair laquer. Really cheap, and it washes off with a sponge dampened with plain water.

I know that yes feeling every time i've made custom 3D parts on my bike that works. Do you mind sharing what type of bonding you used to stick it to the frame?
@DgtalBreakz11 ай бұрын
8:35 From my own experience with this scanner (the non-pro version, but still, the same applies), in these scenarios of softly curved shapes from up close the scanner loses tracking mostly because there are not really any reference points that stand out (for example, a sharp point or protruding feature that stays in frame all the time or several ones that appear one after the other that give an anker to the scanner to know where its being pointed at every second). So if you stick a few tiny pieces of crumbled tape in key areas, the scanner will have a much easier time (ghetto way, I know, but Im too cheap to spend money on proper standard circular sticker markers).

awesome to see the true excitement!! keep going! lets see what you come up with! thought. . . could you develop 3D decals for a frame, that would have dimples in them (Like a golf ball) that could POSSIBLY add to aerodynamics of the frame?

Thanks for the info. I'm in the lucky position to primer the parts prior to scanning and painting. That was only the first test run with a factory finished frame.

Im sure you have figured it out by now, but you would have had a higher quality and detail print if you kicked it up at an angle. Lets say 45 degrees or something. Will end up with nearly zero layer lines.

Okay. I have an Idea for you to Make things and MAKE Money as well. Here is the 10% inspiration to you 90% perspiration . You make 3d MASKS FOR HELMETS. HELMET MASK. PROCESS: 1 Scan helmet, any shape and add ons, (brim, chin, camera mount, who cares). Then you make a PRINT MASK. Take your skull Design for example, now pretend is it silicone Halloween mask for a HELMET. Do you see it yet? YOU could make a fortune and do what you love. Scanning,, creating, in 3d software, developing and Making! Use TPU Filament for the stretch on an FDM 3D printer. I will buy your first one, I will have to get you my helmet shape though!!!!!! Great work...

Looks a bit overkill with modeling. Sure, Fusion doesn't have wrapping procedures like Inventor, NX or other grown-up CAD... But cuting out better be done with offset, not extra cylinder
@ETOE11 ай бұрын
If I use offset I have the shape of the frame on top of the head badge as well. But I want a clean cylindrical shape cause the frame has a slight taper.
@feedbackzaloop11 ай бұрын
@@ETOE you actually might want to have the shape of the frame reproduced on the ouside as it will give a badge of uniform thickness. And once painted the curves will play in the sunlight more vivid than simple shapes like flat or cylinder
