Also, I can't seem to get the tab trick to work for centering an object to another object. Does it have anything to do with the objects' positions in world space?

It depends pivot position. It basically moves pivot to the same place, what you possibly want to do before is Center the Pivot (Modify/Center Pivot)

I see you have poles on your caps. Some people say it's bad, some people say it's okay. Maybe a professional can finally shut down my doubts lol. Are they okay to use? or you used them here only because it's easier to demonstrate snapping with the columns? Awesome videos btw, I'm binging all of them. Too bad you stopped uploading tho : (

Hi, it was just an demonstration therefore triangles are ok. If I would do production model which should be ready for subdivisions, I definitely would get rid of them. Basically if you will be subdividing your model in render, using displacement etc. You should have it triangles and ngons free. Hidden triangles are fine but ngons are nono. One day I'll get back to it, it's hard to find time to record some right now.
