Easy just for you maybe ive been 5 hours going through u tube to try and get my update done, says its not connected to internet when it is, and i cant fly the thing.I'm using an i phone 6 and solo app, both not wanting to play ball.

newbie here i need to operate the drone in a remote desert location.no cell coverage,is this required or is wifi from control to drone /cell phone separate entity.

Robert Dowling no cell coverage is required to use the Drone as long as you have performed all the necessary updates ahead of time. The Drone uses GPS to figure out its location so no you do not need to have cell service to operate the Drone

You have to install open solo you need to go on the Play Store and download Solex. The original solo app does not work anymore they do not offer the pre-flight update so you have to install open solo 4.0

@@IFixShet So where do I get Open Solo from? I have Solex download on my devices and I had to purchase a other radio, so the radio I purchased has Open 3.0 so am I a little half way there? I bought solo the other day and I could fly it but I could not get the app to work for my device or connect to Solo wifi! So I did a factory reset and all hell broke loose! Could not preflight etc etc! Thanks for all of your help!

First you need to purchase solex From the Android market and then you need to sign in to solex and then install open solo 4.0 on the transmitter and On the bird through the solex app it takes about an hour to do

it depends on whether the transmitter is already on 2.4.2 or not. Cannot update the solo with the solex app it can only be done with the original solo app on the market you will need to uninstall the solo app if it's currently installed and then reinstall it to your phone and let it check for the update after the app starts for the first time again. Solex has nothing to do with the original it's a third party app the only way to update to 2.4.2 is the original solo app but it only offers the update when you start the app for the first time ever so if it's already on your phone you need to delete it and reinstall it

williamthe chosenone the problem that I see is a lot of newbies purchase it they really have no idea what they're doing or how to fix a problem and then they run into the issue of not understanding it well enough to work on it or do a process of elimination properly so then they get irritated and post videos

Drone Worship the problem is, well, a problem is ...that when solo became more affordable....more ppl jumped on the boat...more ppl..more problems. it's the natural order. I've also seen more "I love this bird" vids as well.... it's all proportionate. and a side note Dan...order from BG shipped today via FedEx so...yay

Hi, maybe I am late to the party, but what's the deal with this Solex App? I am the happy owner a 3DR SOLO, and use mine occassionally. However, I don't follow 3DR much, considering the company moved into the commercial drone space. Overall, my transmitter, 3DR, and SOLO app work fine, whenever I use it... So again, what's the deal with the Solex app, and why does it cost $29 on Google Play?

I heard there used to be a guy named drone worship???? I wanted him to know that after 10 days of scouring KZbin I stumbled across an older video and DW mentioned location must be turned on while connected to the solo and the app. I will postulate the reason is so MATHILDA can update her maps.....DW is the only one who talked about the location being on. All smiles here flight footage soon to follow but sorry I fix shet no acro on the maiden ,

The Solo cost as much as a Phantom 3, so i personally would go with DJI tbh.

CrazyBlueTv absolutely not Phantom 3 does not even come close to the capabilities of the solo being open source. the solo your entire investment is $300 plus whatever GoPro you choose. then because it's open source it is constantly being updated with new features where is DJI is not you're stuck with what you get. the reality of it is if someone could figure out how to put obstacle avoidance sensors on the auxiliary hook ups on the bottom of the solo it would compete with any drone on the market still

CrazyBlueTv also consider that the solo using the tower app can be completely autonomous and can fly out of the range of the transmitter up to 10 miles if it wanted to using solely GPS to make the entire voyage. can't do that with the standard also the open-source developers have managed to completely break down the original solo app and make it fifty times better. this is me just being honest my friend I am a huge fan of Open Source and beta if it's done correctly and you tell the people purchasing the item that this is the case unlike Hubsan

I'm a fan of open source also, and I own a 3DR Solo, but lets put things in perspective here. Even at today's "Fire-sale" prices on the Solo, a Solo, Gimbal and Hero 4 Black is going to set you back around $650 to $700. For that price, you can buy a Phantom 3 Advanced, and for about $50 to $100 more a Phantom 3 Professional. The Phantom 3 Advanced/Professional has LIghtBridge, which gives it insanely greater range.. around 4x as much. It also has optical flow and sonar, which allows it to hover in position very accurately when near the ground even when there is no GPS signal. It also comes with a better dual band GPS that gets a lock much faster than the 3DR GPS. As far as the "Smart shots" go, DJI has basically the same capabilities with the intelligent flight modes. Even though most would consider the 3DR Solo to be more "hackable", third party development is supported by DJI and numerous special apps are available. The main reason I bought the Solo was because it was more modular - mainly, the GoPro is separate and can be used more easily in other applications.

CrazyBlueTv not the solo has more range then the fantom 3 standard with the regular att. And also the 3dr solo is stronger in the wind to because it's heaver so the fantom is not better except the fantom 3 professional or the fantom 4 but the mavic beat them all small easy to put in the air faster the any other drone and long range 4k camera so the mavic wins
