This movie is the legit reason why I love Bette Midler so much. Also, I love Doug Jones as Billy Butcherson. He also played Abe Sapien in Hellboy and Hellboy II: The Golden Army. And the physical actor who played Thackery Binx in this movie currently plays Special Agent Timothy McGee on the original NCIS series.

This was such a great movie as I watch it every Halloween. A couple years ago I found out that there was many deleted scenes. One of which was a crucial plot point in the story called "Candy Crows". Did you ever wonder how Sarah could hypnotize the kids? Well they used a candy called Candy Crows. The kids eat it and when she sang they would be hypnotized. That is how Emily in the beginning was taken. Binx woke up and saw the candy crows on his sister's bed. Well they were supposed to show the sisters going to a grocery store to get the ingredients needed to make them, then hand them out to the kids. Well that scene would have taken a lot of time so it had to be removed, along with the whole plot point. Also, there was a different ending. Originally Binx was supposed to stay alive. Yet he would be a normal cat and wouldn't be able to speak. Max, Alison and Dani would be leaving the Graveyard and Dani called for Binx and he would follow. They changed it to the ending we have because overall, this was technically Binx's story.

I live about 20 minutes from Salem, MA. They lean into the Halloween/witch/spooky aesthetic thing HARD pretty much all year round. There’s witch museums, graveyard tours, occult stores, etc. once Fall starts, it’s gets pretty crowded every weekend. On Halloween day you can’t get anywhere near Salem, it’s so packed! It’s worth it to visit during the season, but if you can’t deal with massive crowds, I’d avoid it like the plague.

Get this: Originally, there was an ending song titled "Almost Unreal" performed by Roxette, but due to last-minute arrangements with scheduling conflicts, it got switched over to the live action Super Mario Bros. Movie starring Bob Hopkins, John Leguizamo, and Dennis Hopper. 😅

Regarding the already-retired Omri Katz (whom I met in person twice, for the record - last year and the year before) who portrays Max; he even appeared on Dallas / Eerie, Indiana / Freaks and Geeks plus other films including Adventures in Dinosaur City (which later had a SNES game by Irem) / Matinee. There's even an online apparel store he runs called The Mary Danksters.

Salem used to be fun as a kid but now it’s just overwhelming with the amount of people and little room to walk. But if that doesn’t bother you hell yeah come down and enjoy the sights. I live in the next town over! Fun fact the cast does a meet and greet in Salem every year :) and you can visit houses from the movie.

About the driver's permit line. Sadly there's probably a lot of Sanderson sister scenes that got tossed out for time. The fact she interacts with a bus driver leads me to believe there's a longer scene with the lap thing being set up. Something that was probably innuendo again, and they were already riding that PG-13 rating. Probably also a lot of scenes in the devil's house, as his wife runs upstairs for awhile but here it's like instant run up and run back down. Now go watch the sequel, it's a blast!
