I have an O2 tacoma that I’ve been running three-quarter inch spacers on for a few years. Having the left side wheel bearing replaced tomorrow. Coincidence? I don’t know.
@AshtonRegier5 жыл бұрын
Leftoverture One ID say that’s just normal wear honestly. You said it’s a 02 so I wonder have they ever been replaced. I’m sure you will find some people who will say that’s the direct cause haha but I disagree I’ll keep running mine till I get new wheels and those will have a different offset than stock so it will be the exact same deal so many people say how terrible spacers are cause offset but nobody says anything about after market wheels that usually are a different offset and are usually accompanied by a bigger tire that also increases the torque and sideload applied to the wheel bearing so basically in my opinion I would say that these are things that only would show up on paper not really that dramatic of a difference mechanically I’m not saying that it doesn’t put more stress on the wheel bearing but I am saying that I don’t think it’s enough to notice
@vh87655 жыл бұрын
The left side has been replaced once before, prior to wheel spacers. Right side has never been replaced. Truck has 230,000 miles on it, owned it since new. I also just did both lower ball joints, and one upper. That’s when I noticed the play in the left bearing.

Do you feel spacers cause bearing wear or any negativity installing spacers ? I had 1.25 spacers installed on my 2019 Tacoma Off Road to avoid rubbing of tire on upper control arms. Also , I was advised to check them after around 300-500 miles to just ensure they did not come loose. What's your opinion ? Thanks
@AshtonRegier5 жыл бұрын
Bryan Resch Honestly running spacers isn’t any worse then after market wheels with a different offset! Most people not only change wheels for the design but also the offset. Whether it’s for clearance to fit bigger tires or just stance/looks the end result is the same if it’s not in spec with the factory hub offset you will increase side load/torque on the wheel bearings doesn’t matter if its spacers or wheels with that said You could make the argument that it will shorten the life of the bearings and it probably does but not by much if any! in my experience I’ve never lost a wheel bearing directly because of offset/spacing most people who have had this happen it’s usually on setups with some miles on it and that’s because as the bearing wears in the races the tolerances change then you put spacers on adding side load and that changes the pressure points on the races and now you’ll end up with the tolerances blown way out and down hill from there but ya man sorry for the long response I just wanted to be clear so In my opinion they are fine I’ve got over 15k on these on and off road no issues ran spacers on my last Tacoma well over 70k with those no issues! The biggest thing is to check them periodically and torque them don’t wanna lose a wheel on the trail or freeway make sure the surfaces are clean no rust or corrosion and you should have nothing but a good experience
@bryanr.32415 жыл бұрын
@@AshtonRegier thanks man , really appreciate the response 👍👍
@SimplyCarReviews5 жыл бұрын
@@bryanr.3241 will it wear more? yes. But not by much. If that was the case why would Toyota install TRD PRO wheel with +6 VS the +25 for the TRD OFFROAD if it will cause excessive wear and tear? Install it and enjoy the clean look and wider footprint that comes with installing QUALITY spacers.

@@AshtonRegier do you think the 1.5in wheel spacers would rub at all? I'm leaning towards the slightly wider since I installed rokblokz mudflaps
@AshtonRegier5 жыл бұрын
Matt Monroe Honestly I think it would be fine. Are you leveled or running a lift? Taller tires? I’m running a level kit right now and I’m confident I’d have no rubbing at all and even on stock hight I’d still have good clearance. As it sits right now turned all the way and compressed I still have good clearance so I think 1.5 would be right on the wire but clear

ROFLgator No it’s not any different or worse than running after market wheels with a different off set than stock which almost everyone does haha so I’d say no it’s not bad but if you wanna be real technical you could make that argument but if that’s the case then anyone running aftermarket setups for lift and bigger tires are screwed

I've had the same Spidertrax spacers on my 2016 Tacoma TRD Off Road for about 2 years now with 3" lift, stock wheels with 285/75/16 Falken mt's. No problems at all, they did put it out of alignment slightly on my truck, not sure about anyone else. I have free lifetime alignments at my tire shop. It was out after the 3" lift, they aligned it, took it back a few weeks later after the spacer install, it was out a little bit. Might want to get it checked.
