Basically as long as you have enough ram for the addressDB, there is no real performance penalty for using one. The main performance bottleneck is the heading of possible passwords, so a simple search/lookup operation doesn't slow things down at all.

Hey there, I really like your videos. I wondered what do you think about doing this in todays blockchain, for example if I want to create a db-address of the ethereum blockchain, I would need the full blockchain right? That would be a 1 terabyte blockchain (~991gb). This is just impossible for regular people to work with, there's so much space and bandwith needed for this. I know there's some db-addresses published of the ethereum blockchain, but I just used that blockchain as an example. Can we work with other types of synced blockchains? (not a Light sync but a Fast sync maybe?) How could a normal person today make an address database of today's size blockchains?

I understand I need my wallet id in order for me to change my email. Thanks while I await your response
@CryptoGuide3 жыл бұрын
Are you talking about a blockchain.com wallet? (Based on the question about wallet ID) If you don't know the wallet ID then simply knowing an address and a password isn't enough to be useful.

@@CryptoGuide 😭😭😭 Here is actually my problem. While creating the wallet, I missed a letter in my email, but the account was created either way, I found out after I had sent funds into the wallet. I was thinking looking up address from bitcoin core it can also find the id associated with the address
@CryptoGuide3 жыл бұрын
It doesn't work that way. Blockchain.com wallet IDs are entirely arbitrary and are in no way linked to the addresses generated by that same wallet. If you don't have a wallet ID or email address then you have nothing. Your only option is to contact their support, explain what happened and hope that they decide to help you. If you are creating an addressDB then the datadir is wherever you bitcoin/litecoin/etc core data folder is. If you don't have the Eth addres, the you can just use the data off Google BigQuery or just download a pre-made AddressDB. (See here: btcrecover.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Creating_and_Using_AddressDB/) If you know the address, then there is no addressDB required.

In order to download the address database list on mega, I have to subscribe? Is that correct, or am I missing something? I was immediately told my IP address exceeded the transfer quota, although I've never used mega before.

You shouldn't need to subscribe, but depending on how your ISP has configured things, it may be messing with the "free" download quota for your IP.

Hope I am in the right place, to ask this question. I had some doge mined back in 2014. I used some encrypted password generating online service back then to create a password for my wallet. Been trying to get an access to those old doge coins, but it won't accept the phrase. I tried btcrecover and it completes password search with: password found - displaying that original passphrase. And in the next line it says HTML encoded and the same passphrase again. Does anybody know what is going on here? I greatly appreciate the help!

That means the password it found is correct, the html encoding is just incase you command prompt doesn't display of correctly. (This is an issue in some older versions of Windows)

@@CryptoGuide Why isn't my wallet accepting the password if it is correct? Thank you.

Is your wallet blockchain.com? It could be a false positive but there is actually a bug on their platform where it doesn't open some older wallet I reported it here github.com/blockchain/blockchain-wallet-v4-frontend/issues/3095 You could try dumping the wallet file as per btcrecover.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Decrypting_dumping_walletfiles/ Alternatively you could look at the possible_passwords.log file and see what it is matching on. (If it's a false positive)
@CryptoGuide3 жыл бұрын
Actually I misread your original post, if it's Dogecoin core you can just copy/paste the Unicode password, not the html encoded one. If that doesn't work, you could use an online tool to decode the html encoded characters and that might work.
@yaroslavnaumenko59203 жыл бұрын
@@CryptoGuide I had the password saved as a string of letters, numbers and characters(that from what I remember were randomly generated online). Tried encoding it from HTML end up with exactly the same phrase. Could you please elaborate on Unicode? Thank you for taking time to respond!

If you only moved a single word it should recover it no problem just with the defaults. If you are using an addressDB, you just need to make sure that your wallet would have had at least one transaction by the date the addressdb was created.
