If they try to cancel him he'll come back with a series of jokes that cancels the one who tries to cancel him and people will still buy tickets to see him because his audience is on his side. He's already rich and has a big audience of people who share his point of view. You can only cancel someone who basically "lies" to their audience , presents themselves as being in a way then the cancel society shows everyone who they really are. It`s no surprise there`s a camera to capture Hanks reaction more than twice since it`s well known he have a beef with gervais since 2011 - "Hanks first hinted that he was not a fan of Gervais' comedy at the 2011 ceremony following a joke about Hanks and his Toy Story co-star Tim Allen. “What can I say about our next two presenters?” he asked. “The first is an actor, producer and director whose movies have grossed over $3.5bn at the box office. He’s won two Academy Awards and three Golden Globes for his powerful and varied performances, starring in such films as Philadelphia, Forrest Gump, Cast Away, Apollo 13 and Saving Private Ryan. The other... is Tim Allen.” After arriving on stage, Hanks - in an unscripted moment - replied: "We remember when Ricky Gervais was a slightly chubby but very kind comedian - neither of which he is now." He simply reacts in a way to downgrade Gervais. You can see Rita Wilson - Hanks wife - on the bottom looking at him laughing already expecting him to do something.

Why didn't he tell about what a dolt he truly is? "People who believe in God don’t need proof of his existence, and they certainly don’t want evidence to the contrary. They are happy with their belief. They even say things like “it’s true to me” and “it’s faith." Ricky Gervais Ricky does not know what biblical faith is because he just does not care to know. Biblically, faith means trust. It's a trust by evidence seen. God asks that we prove things. To reason. To get knowledge. To study. God has nothing to hide. We develop trust from what is seen, and that which is not seen yet is trusted also because of the trust built up from what is seen. It's much like a human relationship. We don't trust much until a person has gained that trust from what is observed. The difference is though, God is not limited to human powers. He created us. Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. crossexamined.org/biblical-faith-vs-blind-faith/ www.truthortradition.com/articles/what-does-the-bible-say-about-faith www.revisedenglishversion.com/Appendix/16/Faith_is_Trust www.truthortradition.com/articles/faith-a-confident-expectation-of-gods-promises-coming-to-pass www.truthortradition.com/articles/hebrews-1-11-and-faith Ricky can't even explain the start, creation, and yet he acts so smugly. Real science says nothing does nothing. Real science says if there was something there already it must fit with the evidence of what we know. We know the 1LT says there's a conservation of energy. It can change forms and neither can be created or destroyed. Creation cannot happen by natural means. The 2LT has various aspects, one being the universe is winding down, entropy. Usable energy is becoming less usable, so at one point usable energy was at its max. This all points to a supernatural creation, by a supernatural creator at a certain point in which matter, space, and time were created. When I read how it can happen otherwise, ALL the fools resort to science-fiction. Once a supernatural creation is accepted, then the next step is finding proof of what supernatural power did it. We can't even get science without God. The laws of nature only can come from a Lawgiver, God. We only get life from life...the law of biogenesis. We can't get anything without God. God is the reason for us and all we have. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJqwoq2ElL6Gjrc “However improbable the origin of life might be, we know it happened on Earth because we are here.” -Richard Dawkins. Ps: The whole point of science is that we can prove it, you should try reading some science magazines and journals, see what they're actually about so you can understand it better. There has never been any proof God exists, there has been plenty proof that God does not exist (child cancer, world hunger, war, nuclear weapons, crime and so on) If your God doesn't care to stop genocide or child molestation then he is no God of mine.

@Johan Vos I think the humour of it was lost on you. Of course he is not in any position to lecture them. There was an undercurrent of irony to the joke. He was lecturing them on behalf of the public. He was in a rare position to chastise them for their elitist attitude and he took it. Which was very satisfying to watch by the way. Especially when you consider they were all dressed up to pat themselves on the back. I would even argue that he the only one who could have pulled that off. It had to be one of their own to be invited to host, but not care what they thought of his insults. That was a once in a lifetime speech that took them down a notch. At least for a few moments. I was thinking that the camera shot of Tom Hanks' "befuddled" face may have been his reaction to something entirely different. The video editor likely inserted a clip of Tom Hanks making that face precisely after that joke to skew controversy over how the public views Hanks. Think about it, really, whoever made this video compilation of RG's jokes must've intentionally inserted Hanks making that 😏 face there - either to have a dramatic effect, or a controversial effect on the perceptions of viewers.
