Then they should have done a 4V swap because I bet a 4V Long block swap wouldn't cost $15k and cost that much. I agree the 2V, 3V and 4V sound way better. I have to choose my exhaust VERY wisely to make it sound good. LT headers, resonated H pipe and make sure you don't let it get too loud or the Coyote just sounds like shit. I have had a gen 1 and now 3 Coyote and its the same story. Making over 800RWHP in a 3v is polishing a turd though. It would have saved him a ton of money to put a gen 2 Coyote in there. Fuel system and same supercharger system and would have made the same power with a gen stock 2 Coyote. With E85 it would have been every bit as reliable as that fully built 3v.

Good video. I have a 3valve with a supercharger and nitrous. It did 960hp to the wheels on Q16 fuel. It was detuned to 804hp and I lost the built 5r55s on the first pass. It has a powerglide now and awaiting retuning. I bought the car new and have $140,000+ in it. Some of the labor I did myself, some I did not. It adds up and is expensive though I have too much in it to dump it for cheap. It has gone in the nines in Las Vegas but in the long run a factory Cobra Jet race car would have been a cheaper buy. The FUN factor of taking a stock mid 14 second car and hopefully hitting the high eights with your own handiwork makes it worthwhile. At least that is what I tell myself. Again, great honest video

I definitely expected a reliable 800+ RWHP 3v to run you $50k, it makes sense to be honest especially after you listed off some of the major components and their costs. You hit the nail on the head with the styling of these early S197s. I feel like people either hate them or love them to death. I absolutely love this body style, which is why I had planned to Coyote swap mine someday. If you are going to try and get 800hp out of a 3v or 2v. You need to be able to turn wrenches. You can get the engine at most junkyards for cheap. Forged internals is around $2500. The cost is really on the labor.
@midnight3475 ай бұрын
Yea there is way more cost to making 800 wheel reliably than just forged internals. Weather you do it yourself or not it's gonna be alot more than 2500 bucks. You gotta upgrade the rest of the driveline and brakes and suspension but you also have to do this on a coyote powered car making that power so that isn't fair to tach that onto the overall cost. You would need ported heads and cams and stuff also on the 3v at that power level if you want it to be efficient. The newer s550 is dime a dozen and the car itself costs alot more up front so you're paying the money in a different way. All in price of the car included you could Def do an older car less than a newer s550 to get to reliable 800 wheel all in price of the car included. The older cars are more unique and sound better imo. Its easier to build a newer car because you can finance a large portion of it in the car itself (which is why people wanna do that) but the overall cost of the car + build isn't any cheaper with an 800 wheel s550 vs an 800 wheel older car imo because the price of the car initially is much higher.
@KyrieEleisonMaranatha5 ай бұрын
@@midnight347 yeah right, I've seen many 2v's with only forged internals making upwards of 750-850hp depending on boost. Running reliably as a daily. Now as far as the suspension and the rest is irrelevant to my argument. Im talking about making the engine handle safe amounts of boost. They are pretty great with just forged internals. Obviously while you're in there you are replacing head studs, gaskets etc etc. I'm not trying to give a total cost to make a full blown race car.

When you lay it out like that it's easy to see why more people don't do this. I mean 700-800 rwhp reliably costs like 3 or 4 times more than having a reliable 500 rwhp. This is what I love about the early gt500s. You still got the same body style only better (the gt500 body style looks better imo) and you got a stouter trans and a much stouter engine that is already supercharged from the factory so a blower swap and minor fueling upgrades can put you at 700-800 rwhp prob cheaper than these cars get to 500 rwhp. They do cost more up front but if you find one that is nice but not mint with a few miles you can really get alot of bang for the buck. I got my 07 for 16 grand which is mind blowing considering what you can do with the platform for little money. People want 16 grand for 3vs lol. I'm gonna spend about 6-7 grand this year upgrading to a gen3r and injectors, boost a pumps, 1 piece ds and make 750 rwhp on stock headers with 93 and boostane. Car already had a twin disc clutch and mgw shifter, already has the jlt 123 cold air I can re use with the tvs, already has a full exhaust minus long tubes (doing those later) so I'm 6-7 grand away from being where I wanna be for now power wise (750). Down the road I am going to go built motor, cams and longtubes for probably around the same 6-7 grand all in for everything and when you consider what I gave for the car I won't even have 30 grand in it after it is all said and done with the gen3r and built motor lol. I freaking love the 07-09 gt500s they're so cool and don't get near enough love. It's like a 3v on steroids lol

The key is to do it all bit by bit, do the brakes, then suspension, then rear end, then do a one piece drive shaft, then a transmission (also built tr3650s are pretty good), clutch, then start on the engine. By the time you get to the engine, you will have an already dialed in monster. Currently building the rear end, then im gonna throw in a drive shaft.

Nice car! Insane amount of torque from a mod engine. Also, like you said, it has a cool factor of 1million. I agree with all that you stated. In high school in the early 80's I had a 68 F100 that had what I will call a hodge podge 352 that my dad bought from the local Chevy dealership for $200 in 1971 because they couldn't get it running after they put it together with all sorts of various FE parts from all over the map. It took Dad & a great mechanic friend of his about 6 months & a couple calls to ford Tech to get running. Dad gave me the pickup when I was still in junior high when he was offered $500 for it on trade for a newer pickup. I learned the value of having money left in your pocket after buying awesome parts when I completely smoked the clutches in my Tru Trac diff about a year after I put it & a set of Mark Williams axles in the rear to stop the carnage of diff gears & razor-sharp axle splines brought about after doing a bunch of work to the 352& installation of 3.89 gears. I had to save money for nearly a year to replace the carrier assembly with a Detroit Locker unit, which then led to needing a Strange 3rd member when I broke the back pinion bearing housing completely off. Once you start producing HUGE torque numbers, you will need to replace everything from the flywheel back & need to have the budget for the oh crud factor.

Interesting video. My first Mustang was a 2017 GT S550. Installed a Kenne Bell supercharger myself. Paid a shop to do the oil pump and timing gear upgrades. Also had them do the suspension upgrades.Long story short. Dyno results were 583 RWHP and 477 LB FT of torque. Swapped out the supercharger pulley with the next size smaller which increased the boost too 12lbs from the base of 10.4lbs. Never had it run on the dyno with that upgrade. That power was nice with the exception it would break the tires loose @ 60mph. Hooking from a dig wasn't happening. Sold the car because it just wasn't pleasant to drive. Fun at first but got old. Had the car for two years and only put 1200 miles on it. Bought a 2006 GT Premium a little over a year ago. Mostly stock. Has a Bama tune and some exhaust upgrades. Looks good. Sounds great. Far from a race car but an excellent cruiser. Basically got burnt out dumping thousands of dollars into a car. There was more than one. Speed costs. How fast do you want too go?

I got a 3v @18 and was in love it I ain’t gonna like I did pushed it race it a lot but stock lol I didn’t have the funds to really do a lot to it and then some lady with a 3v crashed my front end and ever since I just been having problems and left the front end damaged and just bought a car to go to point a and b. Now I’m about to be 23 I still have the 3v but never really drove it for almost 3 years it still has problems and the front end is still damaged but I just couldn’t never sell it . Now I got the funds and I’m slowly fixing the problems. I’m about to take it to a shop to get the front end fixed I’m can’t wait to get up back and running. My first v8 I just couldn’t let it go . I got the car without even knowing how to drive a manual but I taught myself in the 3v . One question tho the engine has 180k miles in it do I replace it the engine rebuild it or leave it like that cause I do want to add a stroker cause eventually I want to procharge it . What y’all think?

They have not seen one or heard of one break, but have builds around 800 and holding fine, just rods/pistons upgraded. Stock rod/pistons are capped around 450wheel tq not necessarily 450whp. @@VistaBlueGT it makes power because it's a big blower over 3 liters imo on a 4.6 it won't have that good of a response or power curve. A smaller TVs would be better imo. @BrenspeedEngineering2 жыл бұрын
Long. Basically parts are hard to get. Blocks we use have been back ordered for over a year. It is possible using the stock block but expect downtime with machine work, building, etc... something like that in July 2022 takes like 6 weeks on a good day between getting parts, machine work, building it, etc... and possibly longer as parts shortages are pretty bad right now. And that is using your stock block as the foundation.

@BrenspeedEngineering3 жыл бұрын
2V to 3V no way unless you do a bunch of PCM swap conversion stuff to take advantage of the 3V VCT. To be honest on that Crown Vic build I would drop in a 400+ HP stock coyote gen2 , 6r80 trans, control pack and have one bad ass car. Rather than trying to achieve that kind of power out of 2v.... That would be a rare car in the end with that coyote swap.

You really don't want to go much higher than 500 hp and 600 tq at the wheels. Any higher you need forged internals. Or at least gap the rings. You can squeeze 6 to 700 out of them just by regapping the rings.
@justa3v6193 жыл бұрын
My first car was a 90 gt and The fox has always been my favorite car until 2005 came around and it took me a while to get me one as I just got my first 3v February of this year I coulda got a coyote but I wanted the 05-09 body and personally I love the sound of the 3v and like being the bastard child underdog. I’ve already put more money into my car than I originally paid for it and it’s just now around 500rwhp on the nitrous. And I plan on getting a lot more out of it. Want to build a motor that can hold up to 1000rwhp but just keep it around 600-800rwhp still street drive able. Trying to find a shortblock now to start building so I can keep driving the car as is till I get another block built and when it’s done drop it in with some boost. Right now it’s got a factory 5 speed factory rear end just with Ford racing 4.10 gears. But I’d really like to put one of them new 10 speed autos in it. I’m not a dummy and I realize this is going to cost way more than just buying a 11+ gt with some boost but like I said I love this body style and love their faces when I say it’s just a 3v. As it sits literally has every bolt on plus cams gears and nitrous with a bunch of suspension parts I beat a lot of coyotes, new camaros, and them mopars. I can take that $500+ I would be paying on a car note each month and put towards the build. Hopefully by next year this time it’ll have a built motor and some sort of boost. Still haven’t decided on turbo or supercharger. I have always wanted a roots/twin screw style blower which I’m really leaning towards even though I’m sure a centrifugal or turbo would probably make more power. I’m not really worried about making tons of power as the car sits it runs 12.8 @ 113mph on motor that was before the cams long tubes and Ford racing manifold not sure what it’ll run now and 11.9 @ 121mph on the nitrous again that was before the other upgrades and with a crappy 2.2 60ft. I’d like to squeeze a mid 11 second pass out of it the way it sits and then with the new setup have it road worthy but still go 10’s at the track.

So after stressing I came across your video, and I guess you either get cheap and reliable which would be staying stock or fast and cheap which won’t last long, or fast and reliable which is expensive. Bro you can twin turbo these in your driveway on a weekend. If you know how weld and you can turn wrenches. You can twin turbo these for under a $1000. Especially if you know how to shop at junkyards. You can get lancer evolution turbos all day for under $200 intercooler and all. If you don't know how to turn wrenches i wouldn't even bother. Go buy something better that's already powerful. But if you know basic mechanics you can do it all yourself for really cheap. If you really want to cut corners nothing is quicker and easier than throwing a 200 shot of nitrous at it. Cooler spark plugs, upgrade the fuel system and tune.
