@JasonKifner3 жыл бұрын
@@sathingtonwilloughby3741 I think you got it. I usually start a new move consciously, slowly going through the steps (1...2...3...) then the speed just comes naturally after about ten or twelve reps. One of my professors always says, "Slow is smooth and smooth is fast." When you're going slow, it's easier to eliminate inefficient, unnecessary movements. So, you use less energy to get to the same place.

Maybe as a level change leg sweep, done with the hand. Heavys are alway pushing, wrapping up and falling to ground with a leg sweep or trip. Use this as a setup. Can fully commit and see if he bulls through or tries to pull away. If bulls through, his foot will move forward and his head will lower, you are already low and on your outside knee. Push from knee and toes, move forward and drive under arm and into his side, stepping through with inside leg and finishing takedown. Can wrap with stepping foot. If he raises head or foot shifts without upper body, he is moving backward. You can control his arm and shoulder you have tangled. Either push and yank to throw off balance and create an opening OR pull down on that arm as you shift from knee to toes, forcing him to plant a foot. Since one was moving, other probably plants. The one that is now his lead leg and closest to your free leg. Lunge and sweep or wrap that leg pulling self into opponent’s body as he either tries to turn and pivot off back leg or straightens up, allowing you belly2belly or your belly to his hip. To positions you can throw from. With a few options to figure out, it’s not a one and done setup, but how many moves are.

If you can't bring his head down witb the collar tie, you can prob transition to double grip on his ankle as while pushing the guy's shin with your forehand instead.

I learned a great ankle pick set up as easy as pie. From a right hand collar tie, step back with the right foot one big step then left foot one big step, pulling them with you. Then pick the left ankle when they step it forward and put it down (weight will be on it). It's always there unless you've done it to them before. Easy two. Won a couple of matches I probably shouldn't have with that.

You guys need to add the concept of the clock as well. So when the rassler has the other guy and he's grabbing the opponent's foot and, in a sense, turning the opponent's foot into a fulcrum while forcing the opponent's head away from his own center line. Here is where I want to ask, when the wrestler is pushing the opponent's neck over his own foot, if we are to set the wrestler's head to be at 12:00 am, to what hour/direction is the wrestler's Force going towards as he secures the opponent's ankle by turning itto a fulcrum?
@brandonreed3x3 жыл бұрын
you're overthinking it. the hand blocks the foot, the other hand pulls the head down and push the head directly over the foot. that's it. There are multiple different ankle picks though

@cyraxsaibot77403 жыл бұрын
Remain tight and close to your opponent, quads tightened, and utilize your grip on his upper tricep a bit more. Really clench the upper tricep. Hope that tip helped because sweat can mess up the grip strength sometimes.

Hi Chewy! I’m 16 I’ve been training BJJ for about a year now. I had a huge gap in my training becouse of corona. Today I went back and now my spine hurts, my neck hurts and my shoulder hurts really bad. The nech injury was my fault since I did not tap in time. But the shoulder and the spine injury just happened, I don’t remember when they happened. Is this normal? What should I change next time besides tapping in time? And how to roll safely? I want to do bjj as long as possible but with healthy joints.
@reptilesgamers003 жыл бұрын
Anything spine or neck related is serious. You should get that checked out. Go to the hospital if that's not an option maybe a chiropractor or muscular/physical therapist. You didn't tap in time? Was it a guillotine or a neck crank? Train with different people.
@qwer04273 жыл бұрын
@@reptilesgamers00 yeah it was a neck crank. But the pain is not that bad now and I think it will go away complitely in a few days. The spine is not hurting anymore at all. Next time I will be more careful and will tap in time that’s for sure.Anyways thanks for your consern and your answer.

I always liked an ankle pick. Liked it better than the arm drag or just shooting straight for a single or double leg. I would get yelled at by coach for always reaching for an ankle. Especially on ground I’d go for a wrist and opposite ankle, twisting till he’d turn. I even won a match, once. Lol.
@cyraxsaibot77403 жыл бұрын
Yeah those are very effective post sprawl. If an opponent sprawls against a takedown those ankle picks are a wonderful option due to gravity and momentum. Really good experienced wrestlers like that man can use them offensively with no problem though lol...

Already tested, works 1 time out of 10 because the imbalance must be fast and the simple fact of pulling the ankle is not enough to unbalance and create the takedown. The position of the body (As on the demonstration ) does not leave enough power to the arm to create the thrust.
