It's more than that. Between the two brother's, Stefan IS the safest choice. She's looking for any excuse to walk away from Damon and to change her feelings for him. Here? Yes she did pick Stefan in the season 3 finale but in the season 4 finale she did pick Damon and if it was going to be Stelena as endgame, Elena would’ve picked Stefan then in my opinion. Also, we got approximately 4 seasons worth of Stelena and watching their relationship develop and evolve, whereas we only got around 2 seasons of Delena and yes they had sex a lot but you also see Damon and Elena develop for the better when they’re together. I feel as though if Nina didn’t leave, we would’ve been able to see a more sensitive and vulnerable side to Delena instead of a very passionate and sexual relationship but there was a lot of chemistry between Elena and Damon but not in the soppy love story way.

Last season Damon would have gone into self destruct mode after this, but he hasnt done that now because somewhere along the line he actually started believing in his love for elena. I know everyone wants Elena to just face the truth and admit her feelings (believe I really want that too.). Also it was unfortunate that they had this fight right after that epic kiss. That's why their entire argument is about Damon's actions. Damon already knew Elena had feelings for him when they kissed in 3x10. Something Elena didn't want anyone to know about. Shouldn't take a genius to figure out why. She doesn't tell Caroline because of how badly Damon treated her in the beginning. She lies to Jeremy about it because Damon literally snapped his neck. Damon was the one who told Bonnie, and purposefully. He wanted her and Elena to talk about it, what he calls road trip bonding. Bonnie is the reason Elena has the courage to tell Stefan. Not only that Damon kissed her, but that she kissed him back. Damon told the audience exactly what Elena wants. She wants him to make the choice for her. Stefan thinks Elena is in love with Damon. He sends her to Denver to figure out how she feels. When she comes back, he doesn't care at all how she feels. It's all about him and how he feels. Damon told him they got a motel, Stefan didn't care. He always believed he was the better brother, so he thought he could win her back. That's why I don't feel the least bit sorry for him when he finds out Elena and Damon are together in season four. Which he blames on the sire bond because his ego can't handle Elena choosing Damon over him.

Because others always expected her to be 'perfect' and her relationship with Stefan was usually considered 'epic'...let alone having feelings for his brother is pretty looked down upon. I can understand Elena trying to fight it. When Damon said 'when people see good they expect good, I don't wanna live up to anyone's expectations' Elena reacted so strongly because he basically said what she'd been doing to herself all that time. It's the same thing with in season 4 when she was dancing with Damon and learning to feed off people...when it's just them alone she's able to let loose and be the fun Elena again. The instant she noticed Bonnie looking at her the wrong way, she went back to 'oh crap I need to be what others expect of me' pretty much. This is what was starting to really annoy me. Damon is just so intense as well, so I can understand Elena being intimidated by his love for her.

This is more than a scene for me. It's one of my favorite episodes of the series because of what it means for Elena's character. Damon is pushing her just as Alaric is pushing Stefan. She becomes a vampire because it's about her heart of darkness. That's why she's painting the room at midnight and painting it darker, then the white paint spills on the floor. The light is dying out... and they fit her death to the soundtracks in this episode. Elena will die because Damon won't make it easier for her by lashing out. Instead, she'll come to understand why it's easy for him to lash out lol. She essentially gets her answers about Damon when she becomes a vampire and finds out just how impulsive she can be. "If you want the answers from my darkest side, you're gonna have to tap into yours." Only then is she able to own her love for Damon. She becomes a vampire for the sake of being with him, and gets a much needed reality check with his humanity as her own emotions become magnified. The best way to understand someone is to walk in their shoes. So she does.

Her character is written in denial about everything. Admitting it makes it real. Kinda like when Jeremy is trying to tell Damon that Bonnie is dead, and Damon tells him not to say it, don't you dare. Because Jeremy said it, Damon is forced to tell Elena that Bonnie is dead. Same concept. Elena loved her and her family more than her ex. Stefan and elena was together now they aren't. Damon supported her more than stefan. When she becams a vampire he supported and liked her that way. Stefan wanted that cure as fast as possible. Elena had her humanity switch off and he believed she can go thru that and turn it on soon. Stefan tried but then gave up and Damon still had hope for her. This is why Nina and Ian had best chemistry in Vampire Diaries because they're love was believable, epic, amazing, crazy, adventurous and they had that hall more than Stefan and Elena. Elena made him a better man. Nobody truly loved damon. Katherine played him like he was some kind of toy. Others he kissed were stressed they did not get the man. He was in a dark place and has no one. Elena came and changed that for Damon. Nobody can not get in there way not even Stefan.

I completely agree with you, right now a relationship with Damon could be good or bad only by giving them a chance will she find out which, she could choose Stefan and always wonder what could have been with Damon and what she might have missed out on or she could choose Damon sure there is a chance of getting hurt but she could also experience the most amazing love of her life. Yeah, I did notice that. In the promo he says it more innocently and puppy dog like. They do that a lot in the promos vs the scenes edited for the show. This wasn't the only scene from the promo that was different. When he lays on the bed with her it was shown from a different angle, I think even the scence with Esther and Rebekah was a little different too

i think she'll probably tell him on s4 finale.We'll be left with those three words and maybe a kiss. Then they'll make us wait till september if they will get together or not. if they do then probably go smoothly for about the the first 8 episodes then they'll probably break. just guessing.

Lol both brothers are weird if you think about it. Stefan stalked her for 4 months learning everything about her before he introduced himself to her. That's a whole level of creepy. Then you have Damon who loves her to a point of obsession. Both crazy.
