Phew Damon's last comment knocked the air out of my lungs first time I saw it! And my my how Elena was in such a denial phase back then! Although I have to admit for all the heart stopping moments in this scene , Damon's "Thanks" made me laugh so much. It was so in character , actually they wrote him excellently this episode!

Love this scene. For a long time, Damon knew there was something between them, and even though Elena didn't realize it before, once S3 came around she did, and the only thing he didn't want was her to do was lie to him, Stefan, and to herself about how she felt. She was falling for him and she knew it. He just wanted her to remember those feelings and not not acknowledge them because of her still being with Stefan. Same thing happened in the scene from 2x01. (Though all terrible things about that scene aside), Only this time, romantic feelings on her part were there. Some people may think that Damon was purposely trying to steal Elena from Stefan since he was gone, but I don't think that. Even though I'm a delena shipper. Was he maybe competing for her affections more now, yes, but I don't at all think he was doing it to purposely hurt Stefan. You can't help who you fall for. Elena's just as guilty of that. She and Stefan weren't technically broken up and yet she was developing romantic feelings for Damon on her own. So actually, if there was any disloyalty towards Stefan, it came from both of them.

I love this! And Damon loved Elena so much that even tho she doesn't love him back until season 4 he was always there for her. Also Damon didn't steal Elena. He tried so hard to fight for his feelings but obviously he knows Elena felt something for him too so that's why. And also why did Elena kiss Damon on the lips even Tyler was not convinced that it was just a goodbye kiss. She obviously had feelings way back then. Damon is the better man for Elena. When he fell he fell hard. ❤️

Exactly. It is rather misogynist to stay "Damon stole his brother's girl..." as it reduces the girl to an object that can be owned or stolen. It wasn't just Damon who stabbed his brother. Elena was equally involved. Whatever happened between the two until Elena died was completely consensual.

Goodness! What an EPIC scene... everything here showed the love Elena desperately wants to hide and deny. But what I loved was what Damon did with Elena's hair in the end. He pretty much said I know you love me, and I don't ever want you to forget that. Last week's scene of Stelena was really impactful, but I'm sorry. This scene moved me way more than any Stelena scene ever could because of the sheer simplicity it evokes. Gorgeous!

Elena outed her feelings for Damon to Damon himself. He's giving Elena more respect than Isobel did with him when she revealed his love for Elena. He's pretending not to know why she changed her mind rather than spitting it out for her. They're hers to express. He's forcing her to face her new awkward reality before he helps her bring Stefan home. This is about the water scene. She gave up on Stefan to save Damon, so now you get glimpses of his back for the sake of the concept of facing said reality. She loves him. He will continue to force her to face her love for him, and force it to the point she outs her feelings for Damon to Stefan himself, and in similar fashion. This happens in 3x18, and you can see how different they are with how they confront her. Stefan acts like he speaks for her.. When she gets the courage to tell him about Denver, he won't let her say it. He cuts her off to shut her up.

I don't get all the hate on Elena. She didn't exactly cheat on Stefan. You just can't help who you fall in love with. She was just a 18 year old girl with no parents, a brother to take care of, then Stefan came along and she finally had someone who had her back, loved her and respected her. She lost him. She had to go through the pain of loosing someone she loved, again. And Damon was there when she was probably at one of her weakest point. So, she kinda fell for him.

When I watched this scene I was all tears. Not because I think it's sad, it's not. And even though the song got to me it's not cause of that either. I cried because this scene is deep.It's so deep, so intense. You don't need them to kiss to see that. You can see it in their faces. This is seriously the best scene I've ever seen in the whole series. It's so real. No compulsion, no forcing, no sickness. And what Damon said just made my heart hurt, but I loved it. In 3x22, she's going home to Stefan because she cares about him. Damon is her always. That's why she couldn't think about always... Stefan is out with Klaus. Right now, she's thinking about Damon. Damon is 100 miles out of town. Right now, she's thinking about Stefan. These are her true choices, 3x2 and 3x22. Best for Damon to stay in season four because he already got the girl, he just has to wait for her.

Ik people say Damon stole Elena, but he really didn’t. Even here, while he’s telling her not to forget her feelings and demanding to know how she really feels, he’s still telling her he’ll get Stefan back for her, even if it means he doesn’t get to be with her. He always put her happiness above being with her, not being selfish or anything with her. Yes, he wanted to be with her, but he wanted her to have the freedom to chose to be with him, wether she’s a vampire or not, something Stefan couldn’t handle

This scene definitely speaks about how much Damon has grown from the what we first saw of him back in se1.When he tells Elena that he wants her to remember what she felt for him while Stef is gone,this shows just how fair of a person he is.He knows that Elena feels something more for him and yet he isn't moving on her,but at the same time not giving up on both of them.He is being fair to Stef by deciding to push her away for now.He wants Elena to choose when Stef is back,not when he is gone.
