Bank 2 spark plug wires on wrong. Bank 1 is 1 2 3 same as on coil....Bank 2 should be 5 6 4 on other side of coil.

That my friend sounds like a low oil pressure crank. The engine is cranking smooth, you have fuel pressure, spark and obviously air. I didn't see if you reinstalled the belt before doing a test fire. Also it would have been a good idea to check the oil pan for metal shavings. The oil pump could be failing is a possibility as well.

I watching the milk going into your heads. Those 4.0L have a upper and lower oil pans. I personally would have dropped them and put in a new oil pump and pu tube. There is no way I would have went that deep and cut corners. I would have had to see real oil before closing those valve cover. You stated in your earlier video that you suspected there wasn't enough oil pressure; which was a red flag for new oil pump.

Almost sounded like plug wires were switched I had 5 and 6 backwards on my 4.0 ohv and kinda did something like that. Did ya get it figured out?

After having a 4.0L for 25 years (1993 ranger). Doing regular maintenance and replacing water pumps and such, I have found that the 4.0L is so much more pleasant to work on than the 3.0L Cologne engine. Replacing the Water pump you have a tensioner with a 8mm bolt head that is very easy to round off …… WHY?? WHY!!! Damn engineers!!! I could have had it fixed with in 30 minutes on the 4.0L, but NOOOO! They have to make it DIFFICULT!!

When you were cranking to circulate old oil did you have pan bolt out draining it or is it just going back into pan and you will drain again before final fill?

Had to have oil in it to build up pressure. Drained it again later

I had to goto harbor freight and buy a special socket for those fuel rail studs. Was like $8. This is a full German engine as much as BMW. Cologne V6. The next version of it is SOHC and has lots of problems - think rear timing chains :lol:

Why didn’t you drain the oil and remove the oil pan first of all. At first I thought the video was one of the first tare downs but it was one of the last. About like wiping your ass before taking a dump. With all clean parts but nasty contaminated oil still in the system while checking the rocker assembly??!! I don’t get it.

That enter timing bolt is not torqued!!! It's wobble.
