Hoyo's trailers are usually pretty misleading, so rather than pick things apart frame by frame, I'd like to share what kind of things I'm thinking about as we move into version 4.1!

As someone who only drinks water, i agree that water tastes different and felt very seen to see Neuvillette feels the same way lol (I think this is the most likes I've seen in a long time for a comment- thank you all so much!)

yeah it’s crazy how plain water too has different taste and texture(?) to them. i once bought those fancy fiji bottled mineral water just to know like why tf the price is much higher compared to normal ones. the texture of that fiji water somehow feels smooth? like idk how to describe it, it’s a different experience for sure.

This is why corporations like to advertise their water products with a known source of a refreshing water. The only immaculate waters I tasted are from verified-safe-nature-spot sources. Sometimes even the container alters the taste but I dont know the science of that one. I don't know if you would relate but there's a taste of water I don't like, it's like a very stuffy one like the water is taking itself too seriously. Lol. Even if cold, the texture is like boiled water.

Hell one time I remember going to my aunt's house and their tap water was oily (didn't drink it for obvious reasons, just tried washing my hands with it)

Yesss, I think it's this. But I find it hard to believe that the same person that was talking to Neuvillette would beg for their life so earnestly... The "Furina" talking to Neuvillette seemed, idk noble? So dying wouldn't be a problem for that Furina if it was for her people or for a good cause, like how Greater Lord Rukkedevata sacrificed herself because of forbidden knowledge... The Furina we have now however, seems like she'd be scared ****less and ONG beg for her life even though she is a literal Archon... 😭✋ So, let's just see and have fun speculating, until what? 5 days now? 🥳

I believe Neuvillette is actually missing a lot of his memories and thats why he doesnt fully understand himself. Perhaps enterimg in contact with that huge amount of primordial water made him regain his memories that were inside said waters? Perhaps he listened to Egeria lines in that moment and then he remembers who he actually is amd his goal.

Personally I think Neuville is reincarnation of hydro dragon and he gets the information about hydro dragon when he is in contact with primordial water. It makes sense since Scylla was rumored to be hydro dragon.

i think this idea holds a lot of water (heh) - i think that something about his memory was sealed within the primordial waters for some reason. i also think his lack of memory and understanding might have something to do with focalors’ current instability. given that she’s presently kind of an awkward mess i think that her own memories might have been sealed away to either test the capabilities of her current incarnation to solve the crisis, or else to contain something in them away from her current body? i mean, we already know one god who created a firewall partition to prevent forbidden knowledge from corrupting her next iteration. it’s possible focalors could have done the same. it just feels like furina might be so scared and panicked because she’s like a declawed cat: she has nothing to defend herself with bc the bulk of her power is being held somewhere else.

I think with Nahida and Teyvat believing that she was the original Archon after The greater lord erased herself. It's possible that both Neuvillette and Furina are both the "youngest" in their respective... positions? Race? Species? Both give this "innocent" / "inexperienced" feel about both of them. Neuvillette with his memories and Furina with not feeling like she represents Justice.

These waters are all about transferring consciousness (we have more detailed information in the world quests). Well, that wouldn't be a surprise if the Hydro Archon has (had) the power to transfer her consciousness (or part of it) somehow. But I don't wanna think about all of that too much. I always end up misleading myself. Gonna just wait patiently til the 4.1 arrives.

Personally I don't think the person that Furina is begging for her life to is Arlecchino. She specifically asks who are you, but we know that Furina knows who Arlecchino is as we see them having a tea party together with Neuvillette discussing Childe's imprisonment. She could be having some kind of nervous breakdown where she doesn't know what's going on and therefore doesn't recognise Arlecchino, but ultimately I personally think the scene is misleading us to think that it's Arlecchino when it's really someone else.

During one of the Melusine quests you enter a mysterious book that takes you to some ruins floating in the abyss, and if you explore the lower part of the ruins, a section that holds nothing and the quest doesn't make you go to, you find the Library on Enkanomiya, where we met Enjou and found Before Sun and Moon

My guess for Furina begging for hee life would actually be how we, the traveler, act our way into crime and the Fortess of Meropide. Now I agree that Arlechino is the only person who could actually make her beg for her life with so much fear, but she's also an actress. It could be either.

I agree with you I don't think it's Arlecchino either. Besides Arlecchino is in Fontaine as a diplomat discussing terms regarding Childe's release. I doubt she would attack the archon of Fontaine if she's representing Snezhnaya in official capacity, she might insult Furina though. But in my opinion Arlecchino wouldn't do something so radical that would lead into an even worst diplomatic incident than what happened with Childe. And I don't think Hoyoverse is planning a reenactment of Napoleon's invasion of Russia. Besides I don't think Neuvillete would let it go if Furina is ever attacked by a diplomat from another country. Regardless of how he views Furina, Neuvillete is an impartial judge and attacking the archon is a crime and all crimes are judge fairly by the chief justice. That said I'm excited to actually figure out the reason for her begging. Maybe she really is just acting.

I hope to GOD that 4.1 WQs will show us Alain's perspective after Mary-Ann's death (or maybe even before), bc i refuse to believe that he just didn't do much and just established an institute. And for all of his mentions in 4.0, he's strangely absent or has unimportant roles in 4.0 WQs. We hear about all of his creations/achievements, yet we don't really know what he was doing for a big portion of that history

I think the end of the trailer with Neuvillett is supposed to misdirect us into thinking Neuvillett will sacrifice himself so he could seal the primordial seawater (at least in my opinion) which as we all know is not possible since hoyo doesn't kill genshin playable characters ever. But to be frank I think it would be an interesting turn of events.

Hoyo targets genshin to a more casual audience, and quite frankly, casuals don't want to spend money on a character who is dead and will never get content again... And I'm with them on that. We've only seen Neuvillette for 2 archon quests so far... And we're going to get two more, and his story quest. Unless they're going to pull an Ayaka/Yoimiya and force us to do his story quest before act 3 or act 4, Neuvillette isn't gonna be killed off, because how can he have a story quest after dying? Not to mention, only seeing him for like 2 real world months max and then seeing him die is.... lame.

The Melusine's true sight potion is actually identical to the potion Albedo has us drink in his story quest as well. If I remember correctly, he uses it to check the balance of our inner elemental flow and the side effect is that it makes the traveler very hot (so hot, infact, that we acquire burning status). Then, at the end of the SQ he say something about how an unusual sediment formed in the bottom of the potion bottle after we drank it. I wonder if these could be related? A friend of mine is convinced its just hyv reusing resources but I like to think it could be more than that.

I actually don't think Arlecchino is the one frightening Furina (or at least not on purpose) after all they're seen peacefully at the round table, instead tying into one of your other theories-- I think the one she might be afraid of is Dottore.

Oh I have a random theory that Furina is weak and cowardly because shes using most of her power to hold back the prophesy. So the reason she acts like shes all that is to not let anyone know how vulnerable she currently is. Also I think that the fortress is there to turn people into water. Maybe Furina is trying to save as many people of her nation as possible by sending the ones she deems guilty to, in a way, pay a toll and prolong the inevitable. Maybe living in the fortress is your second chance, and once you mess up in there, you're done.Whatever it is, its something thats making the hydro archon sweat and feel powerless.

Read a comment speculating the line "who are you, please don't hurt me" by Furina is said to Neuvi in the past. If he truly is the hydro dragon savorein (not doubt in my mind) he has enough reasons to not be positive towards the archons and he might have scared her (intentionally or not) when they first met.

Agree on Furina. She has a bodyguard constantly, she doesnt fight childe or traveller when she challenges them or vice versa. However Arlecchinno is unlikely due to their meeting. Its either the fatui operatives, celestia, another Harbinger or arlecchinno (with the caveat of it being her twisted or monstrous form if she has one). Btw if it is another harbinger, i wonder when Damsellette will enter the story as we have decent telegraphing of where the others will be (unless shes also in szesnya which makes it stacked).

I feel like if it is another harbinger it might be sandrone… her aesthetic matches a little too well with the guardameks and with her background in technology I wouldn’t be too surprised if Fontaine, the very technological nation, is the one she makes an appearance in Edit: also Katherine (who is heavily theorized to be made by sandrone) is asked in Fontaine whether she is a clockwork puppet and she just laughs and gives a vague answer about whether she looks like she was made by the research institute which might be foreshadowing something

On the idea that Primordial Waters flow through Irminsul/the Leylines, this could be supported by the fact that Leyline tree roots have shots of blue through them, and when damaged like in Ei’s second story quest, they bleed a blue-ish indigo liquid. It’s not exactly the same colour but that could be like how blood outside a human body changes colour bc of oxidation and hemolysis.

14:50 do you know there's a bit of Enkanomiya right in Fontaine? Besides that "behind the book" realm for which it is uncertain where it really is, there's a cave at the south of Beryl region that contains bits of Enkanomiyan architecture (columns, walls, and lights). There's not much going on in this cave (I believe there's just one chest inside) but the fact it's there is interesting on its own. I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up visiting it in one of upcoming quests.

I also had the same thought that the voice at the end of the trailer isn't speaking to Neuvillette, but to Furina, and that it's the former Hydro Archon. In 3.8 summer event we learned that Hydro Eidolons, aka water droplets, have the ability to shapeshift into humans and that their distinguishing features are light blue hair and eyes... and Furina matches that description. That would also explain why she's putting on an act - she's "playing the character" of the former Hydro Archon Egeria, and my guess she also looks exactly like the former hydro Archon

Regarding Furina's plea for her life, it could also just be going full circle to Navia's ridiculous suggestion of breaking into her room. We may as well have just taken that to heart if it's the only desperate option we have left for efficiency's sake. We literally just scared the sh*t out of her and she's begging for us to not hurt her since she knows we're crazy strong and unpredictable.

I'unno. I mean, if we're sneaking in or catching someone by surprise, disguises would only be mere suggestions. Regardless though, Ashikai was right when pointing out that trailers do a good job misleading us. Just because the line is placed over a scene with the Knave doesn't have to mean the two are exactly linked. But for all I know, it's just a theory.

Furina begging for her life - We probably take Navia's suggestion after Furina keeps avoiding us and surprise her in her room or a place she thinks she's alone. Furina talking to herself - Nahida said that Furina has the final say of justice in fontaine but from what we can determine the Oratrice gives the final judgment. So either Nahida is misinformed or the Oratrice is also Furina. We see the water light up with a similar color to furina's design for each decision so my theory is that the reason Furina is the way she is likely is because she split herself in a way similar to an oceanid and put part of herself (or perhaps her real self) in the Oratrice to make the final decision in a way that prevents Fontaine from going against Celestia. "Even she knows not to make an enemy of the divine." This would explain why we all found Childe not guilty but the Oratrice found him guilty because he didn't have a vision to counterbalance the delusion. The only question after this point is whether it was intentional.

So, I looked into Ichor before and made an interesting theory based off of it, which concerns the Moon Sisters, Aria, Sonnet, and Canon. As well as the Ley Line Blossoms, and Welkin Moon (btw, there is an in-game item called Blessings of the Welkin Moon - New Moon, which gives you the Blessing, the reason why I’m mentioning this is because this item has a rather interesting description.) So, Ichor in most depictions is conversed to be Gold or maybe even Blue. And it is toxic to mortals. In Genshin, there appears to be much more to it than that, we know that Morax bleeds Gold since he made Mora, but at the same time … we don’t ever see Gods bleed that often, in fact the closest we get to seeing a God bleed … ever, is in the cinematic where Ei cries a tear of red blood. Now, this tells us that some Gods do bleed Gold, and some bleed Red, so … there should be some that bleed Blue as well, and I believe we’ve been seeing this Blue Ichor all along. The Ley Line Blossoms of Wealth (Gold - Mora), and the Blossoms of Revelation (Blue - Exp). And wouldn’t you know it, but in that very special event about Diluc’s 5* Outfit, we get to see Red Blossoms as well. This all seems to me, that the Irminsul, grows off of Ichor. Now, about the Experience Books, it comes from the Blossoms of Revelation, which refers to the definition of “Divine disclosure of secret or new information to humans about the human world.” And this feels like something the Seelie Race would do, and the Seelies we see, are Blue. (Well, the neutral colored Seelies are, at the very least.) If you take a closer look into the Experiences, you can see that at the top of the papers, there is a uniquely designed Symbol for each Experience. Each Symbol relates to their respective Gods, the Three Moon Sisters. (What Symbol relates to each Sister specifically, I am unable to tell) Taking another look, behind the scribbles on the Experiences, you can see the outline of a Primogem. This immediately brought my attention to the Welkin Moon, and realized that it’s paper form, looked similar to the paper form of the Experiences, so I took a closer look into it and came to a conclusion. The Welkin Moon is not one of the Three Sisters, or one of their Moons. It is a New Moon entirely, the Fourth Sister, the Fourth Shade of Time. In the Loading Menu when it gives Tips about Time, it never fails to mention the Daily Reset Time, which is also the Time when we receive the Welkins, which is odd, why would the Blessing of a Moon not have special effects at Nighttime, but rather the beginning of a new day? I researched a bit into Blessings of the Moon, and found a Jewish ritual of Blessing the New Moon, where the blessings are towards the creator for creating the new moon, rather than the moon itself. It also refers to the moon as a crown for humans, an alter ego. The people of Israel identify with the moon. Its constant change is reminiscent of destiny, and its renewal symbolizes hope. It seems that the 3 Moons were destroyed, or at the very least, removed from the sky, and a New Moon was placed, giving the illusion that only 2 Moons are gone, when in fact there are 3 Moons gone, and 1 Moon added. This suggests many things about the timing of Istaroth’s whereabouts, and may even confirm that she co-ruled Mondstadt during Decarabian’s Rule instead of Venti’s. Now, about the Item *Blessings of the Welkin Moon - New Moon* “A ritual prayer, recited on the rising of the first new moon, to ask for the moon's blessing in the form of wealth and good fortune. For your purposes, the new moon you shall pray to is the first-ever new moon in Teyvat, since it's the first one you've seen here.” Take with this information as you will.

I hear ya on the differences in water thing. When i lived in King's Mountain the water was absolutely delicious straight outta the tap. But now that i've moved to Charlotte/Kannapolis area? freakin disgusting. idk what they did to it but you HAVE to filter it unless you're making tea/lemonade. But it is interesting that Freminet is always drowning, especially in the nation where allogenes _specifically_ can't drown. Makes me wonder if he's actually drowning or if it's meant to be some kind of symbolism for him? That one day, he's going to go too deep and not be able to come back up. About your point for Furina: I agree that it is most likely Furina talking to herself and it's very possible that she is repeating the former hydro archon's prophecy, however I personally believe there is some more fancy schmancy stuff going on. We know that consciousness can be put into objects and the like (like with Raiden Ei and to an extent Dottore). My personal theory, that has zero evidence whatsoever, is that Furina may have placed her own consciousness or a part of herself inside the Oratrice when she built it. This would mean that the Furina running around in the "human realm" is a shell of what she once was, scrambling to figure things out because she left half her mind in a machine. This would also explain the Oratrice's capabilities to judge things accurately. My only real basis for this is that it doesn't make much sense to me that an archon would appoint Furina as her successor if Furina was as incompetent as she seems to be (I love Furina, she's one of my favourite characters, but she doesn't seem particularly fit to rule from what we've seen, kind of like EI tbh). I feel like there is a lot more to her character that we just haven't gotten yet. And of course there is the popular theory that she has multiple personalities, but that one doesn't make a whole lot of sense based on in game evidence so I'm gonna leave that alone. EDIT: Another thing (I watched further and was reminded of "liquid consciousness"). The oratrice has two tear drops, alike to those in Furina's eyes on it's scales. It ALSO has a bunch of tubes around the entire opera house that circulate a water looking fluid around the whole opera house when judgement is being given. It's possible that this liquid *is* Furina, just as a liquid consciousness inside a machine. It would tie everything back to the emphasis on primordial waters. Just a bonus thought :D ANOTHER EDIT: (I know, it's getting a bit much) As someone pointed out in the replies to this comment, the voice heard through the fountain after the Archon quest (furina crying about being lonely) could very well be us hearing the Furina inside the oratrice. It sure would be lonely being trapped inside a machine and unable to talk to anybody. It would also explain why a voice called out to Lyney. As to how she would have known him by name if she was trapped inside the oratrice, I'm unsure, but it's just a silly little theory anyways.

theory about Furina putting part of herself inside oratrice have some things to support it like Lyney said that when he tried to check it in basement someone told his name so he back off and after sumeru archon quest Nahida told us that final judgement in trails belongs to Furina but what we saw in fontaine archon quest is oratrice having final word

I'm now wondering if the amrita is another source of primordial water, the one that was able to create life rather than dissolving it. Since Egeria was maybe an oceanid, I think it's likely. I also think that the immortal stone might be related to dragons since theu behave like phoenixes.

Wriothesley being so hype and looking so cool made people blind to the trailer kinda painting him as the "bad guy" lmao. He's on the side of Arlecchino too in the 4.1 main art (tbf, where else can they put him but still). The art for 4.0 actually made Lyney and Lynette so small that it made me think in the beginning they're not much of the focus. Furina is taking the spot in the middle true to the idea of misdirection. It's the same here for Neuvilette and Wriosthesley, I feel like.

Remember, the chasm too has fossilized Ancient Oceanic creatures sticking into the some of its walls, which means much much earlier, before it sank below, it is most probably had an access to the sea. Or the possibility that the hidden civilization underground existed even way before, and was hidden by the great flood which housed those oceanic creatures who then become fossilized.
