Perhaps because people park cars in barns but they do not store gold in barns would be a good reason. Gold would typically be found in a safe, and for obvious reasons, these don't get forgotten about, or don't get published when somebody finds the abandoned gold.
@Squashed8Ball6 жыл бұрын
I guess they don't teach common sense to Ferrari carbon fibre technicians but do implant tin foil into their brain cavities! The owner is still alive and knew they were there. He just neglected them for 25 years. What's so hard to understand about that? An affluent car enthusiast in the middle of his life buys a bunch of nice cars, drives them for 10 or 15 years by which time he's retired and barely using them anymore. Then his mechanic has his acccident and they are left collecting dust. The years fly by and before you know it he's an old man. Finally, when he's shipped off to a nursing home where he reminisces over his beloved collection. There he asks his trusted friend to sell up his home and contents and see that the cars in particular are taken care of and go to a good home. Barn finds are called in. Case closed.

A few corrections: the Ferrari wasn't purchased from the original owner. The NC owner bought it from my friend, who was the second USA owner and lived in upstate NY, in ~1985. The car didn't have 13,000 original miles when found in the garage, as it had ~19k miles when my friend sold it. Of course, the 275 was sold at a Gooding Auction and then restored by Motion Products in WI, subsequently winning an award at Pebble Beach.

What a great video! I was an officer for the California Highway Patrol for 27 years, and from time to time I was dispatched to a residence to do a VIN verification for a car owner so they could register it after the vehicle had been out of DMV registration for a number of years. In my career I dreamed of going to a house with a garage like this one, but it never happened. The closest I ever came was doing a VIN verification for a 1958 or 59 Ford Sunliner in the '80's.

In 1973, when right out of grad school and starting my first "real" job, I was offered an original small block Cobra for $2500. It was a roller. It was complete but had been in an accident and, as I recall, nearly all of the body panels were missing. I knew it was a great deal but it was out of reach for me, so I passed. Should have borrowed the money and put it away. Now, today, even as a complete "roller" it would be great to have on display.

"A 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB which raked in $2,530,000 including commission. The 275 was of the long-nose, torque-tube type and came from the same collection as the 1967 Shelby 427 Cobra also found in the auction, which sold for $1,045,000."
@davidthompson62 Жыл бұрын
I really thought the Ferrari would go for much more than this as not only are they impossible to find, this one is almost like new with only 13k on the engine. Who ever bought it got a great deal. One could argue that having a 2 cam instead of the normal 4 cam would hurt the price-I say that makes this version rarer and worth more money.

In the summer of 1970, I was at my girlfriend's apartment when I heard a car start outside. I said to myself, "I'm pretty sure I know what that is!" I went outside and, sure enough, I was correct. It was a 1962 Corvette Fuel Injection model...and it was for sale. Roman Red with a matching interior. Car was dead stock and in great condition except for some odd wheel covers. I mentioned the wheel covers to the owner and he said, "Oh, I've got the original hub caps in the trunk." He popped the trunk and there they were. Trunk was a bit cluttered but in great shape. He had purchased the car from the original owner. I asked him why he was selling it and he said he was tired of it, was getting married and needed the money. The price (and I'll never forget this) was $999.00. I passed on this because I didn't have the money. There is hardly a week go by that I don't regret my decision from that summer day so long ago.

I love ALL old vehicles and I see them peaking out of barns, garages or just setting out in the weather every day as I drive my Freightliner all over the country. I'd LOVE to be able to rescue all of them but there was one that I just HAD to save. I'm a truck guy and a GMC truck guy to the bone. I already had a 1975 Gentleman Jim that my grandpa bought new. My family and I have been working on for several years to bring it back to it's former glory (we're almost finished). I kept passing by this old farm in Georgia on my regular route seeing a blue/silver GMC beside the barn. I knew in my heart it was a Beau James but never had time to stop. Long story short...I had to deadhead back to Ohio a few years back. I stopped to ask about the old truck next to the barn and yes it was for sale. I took a good look and determined that it was in fact an original Beau James. I turned the crank to be sure then agreed on a price, dropped my step deck and went to the bank for cash. When I got back I aired up the tires, winched the truck onto my trailer. My Gentleman Jim is almost ready for paint and the Beau James is next on the list. Only 1500 of each ever built and I have both!

He wasn't much of a car guy, he thought it was a ford. I checked it out and it had 15k on the clock. I got in touch with the people that had previously owned the land and the guy said it was his fathers car and he had passed away in the late 50's and his mother never drove at all. The engine wasn't stuck and me and the son got it out and running, the family that had owned it kept it and have done nothing to it but store it and run it occassionally.

I think you are referring to the green Morgan, not an MGTC

Nobody mentioned the e30 just sitting there

It's worth a couple grand and then there's 2 million dollar cars sitting next to them… I wonder why…

A e30 m3 is worth 50 to 100k now . The one in the video isn't a m3 . My first car was a e36 the best generations of the 3 series was the e30, e36,e46, far as cosmetic looks also the e92

Don't get me wrong, I love regular E30's they are one of my favorite cars of all time, but they are a mass produced mid tier sedan. They are getting a little harder to find these days cause many of them have been hacked up into track cars or beaten to death, but they aren't exactly rare. Worth about 3 grand.

Wow... Just Wow... I Love the 275. The Triumph and Morgan are nice finds on their own. But that Cobra! If I could only have one weekend car and money was no object it would be a 427 Cobra like this one. Unreal.

The mice couldn’t afford the rent in the Ferrari so they moved in the Cobra.

The first guy in the world who was smart and didn't try to start the engines I love Cobras and Ferraris, but I have some love for that TR6, I could actually afford that one

way back in 79 we got a 289 ac cobra in the body shop i was working in. Everyone was marveling at it and saying it was a 50k $ car. It was in for a new british racing green lacquer paint job. The thing looked old even back then LOL.

he forgot about the E30...
@kevinvernon36007 жыл бұрын
Of course he did - of the 5 cars in there, that BMW is 4th, in both value & importance.
@Eatinbritches7 жыл бұрын
It would've been nice if he looked at all of the cars there. That E30 would make a lovely starter classic
@RogueRAZR7 жыл бұрын
Kevin Vernon I'd say 5th honestly. I'd rather hear an excerpt about the Triumph TR6 than that E30. Not even an M3.
@Miatacrosser7 жыл бұрын
NikolitheRussian No, he did not forget about it. Nobody but you and a few others here are the only ones who care. All the rest of us just see another BMW daily driver/grocery getter.
