In part 2 of the Rollin 60s series Baby S Mac digs into information of the infamous Slu Wagon, who brought NHC to the area, and the main players in the early 1970s in the area known as the Front Hood of the turf. Ricky Slu and Big Keithstone talk about the big meeting at Ladera Park in 1975 to expand and consolidate the Rollin 60s.
Slu is the older brother to Baby Face, a name synonymous to Rollin’ 60s. Keithstone is mentioned in Sanyika Shakur’s “Autobiography of a Monster.”

Rollin-Strolling-&-Controlin!!! 1974 South LA during Halloween is when the Hood came together to form the Rollin 60s from the W/S NHC. This 60s history just blows my mind and l love every second of it. If you go back and watch the Big Cat interview, he confirms a lot of info on how the Hood started. He even mentioned Slu and the Slu Wagon. He said only the “Real Ones” got a chance to ride in the Slu Mobile!!! Classic as always and never a disappointment and quietly this could be a 60s movie. Say start it with the Westside then the UGs-&-then the Rollin 60s. Say circa 1970-1979. That’s award winning stuff right there. Great work Baby Smac as usual and thanks Big Kev!!! S/O OG Slu and Big KeithStone!!! Peace!!! #Salute!!!

First off, thanks Kev Mac, what you are doing for the black culture of Los Angeles is invaluable. Our history, good or bad will make us stronger and wiser in coming generations. I grew up on 65th and Denker from1979 (6yrs old) to 1987 (14yrs old). I don't remember Raymond Potts per se but I do remember hearing his name spoken every now and then like he was a legend but always in small bits and pieces. The big homies probably thought I was too young to hear the real stories because I was the youngest on the block at that time. Because of that I have always been extremely curious about him and would like to know his story if possible. Thanks again Kev

You and I probably know one another. I grew up on 65th Place & Western Ave. I went to Raymond Avenue Elementary School and I was classmates with Raymond Potts' younger brother, Raynard Potts. It was something about him even in the 3rd grade you just knew he himself was going to be tougher than leather. I lived on 65th & Western Avenue from 1974 up until 1985. It was some pretty tough times over there. But I have a very strong appreciation for where I grew up and the way my parents raised me.

@@bigbaba4542 I wondered the same thing. I know when I was in elementary school, his younger brother & I were in the same 3rd grade classroom together. Kids at our school were talking about his older brother even back then. The Potts' were well known. But by the time I got to junior and high school I didn't hear of any of them no more. I was geared more towards sports so I wasn't updated much on what was happening around me.

He has that certain look in his eyes as they describe (small in statute but a lot of heart) so to me on that level it makes sense who he was bringing all the hoods together to make the umbrella Rollin 60s it would take that kind of guy to do it. @@jarrettjernigan9077 your talking about slauson and Arlington. Big Rick and the original 60s hung out on Florence and Arlington two different sides. Big u wasn’t even 10 yrs old when the 60s formed. What I am talking about is the original crew of 60s that lived on Arlington and Florence which is big Rick

NHC came from the "East Side" so the 60 picked it up when they use to go too the East Side , as they just stated earlier in the video and it was Raymond Washington idea to start it on the West Side as he did on the East Side. Which eventually tuned into EastCoast so the Coast could have their own identity and it sound like the 60's did the same thing to separate them from the rest of the NHC cart. Bigg Mizz basically told that part of the story or one of the dudes from the 90 in their interview.

they were already NH-RSC when they went on the E/S and functioned with Raymond Washington. Raymond Washington was in Prison from 1972-1975. he wasnt around for the creation of different Crip Sets. When he left, it was only W/S, E/S. & Compton Crips. So Raymond had nothing to do with NHC on the Westside or the Eastside. These dudes were NHC b4 they were RSC. Its More Logical , They Got NHC from somebody in the 100s or attending Washington High or up at the Record Hops at Sportsman Park. As Westside Crips, Raymond Potts & Odie Shaw ran with Barefoot Pookie and the Godfathers and WSC out of the 100s.

@@sincerefactz7019 N/Hood was a generic term back then. No real cohesive links. Eastside Westside Lynwood Compton None of these guys are linked. All popped up independent of eachother. No John Apple Seed that went from hood to hood planting the seed. At least. No one has came forward to identify that person or persons.

In another of these videos, Slu says Huey was NEVER ET. It's just that they had girls that lived in that area, so Huey was over there alot. I think it's part 3 or 4 where Slu says Huey was ALWAYS rolling 60's, period.

Very interesting to because I’ve heard some rollin 60s say van ness to over hill rather than western to over hill. Something tells me the rollin 60s didn’t like Raymond Potts leadership/ crew like that although they looked up to him in some way
