What surprises me the most is that even when the War with the ETGs started, a lot of OG 60s still wanted to work it out and l applaud their effort. And once again you hear that name Hoover and how they were the Original Bad Boys of Crippin. This is a lot of info for someone who’s not from the Land to process but l wouldn’t have it any other way. I even had to go back and watch the Big Cat interview and if you wanna out the pieces of the puzzle together ya need to go back and look at Big Kev’s interviews with Cutes, TS, Nugget, Lil Caesar, Pretty Boy, Big Mump and Monster and they can provide a great perspective on how it went down in South LA back in the day. Baby Smac is bringin the Thunder and Lighting with his questions and l give him a standing ovation for that. I’m also glad to hear from Big KeithStone and get his perspective of how it went down in the 70s. Last thing l love hearing how the Hood United in 74 during Halloween. Seemed that the Brims were more of an extension of the older gangs. Stand your ground, protect the turf. They expanded but it didn’t stick and were pushed back. The Crips were a new phenomenon. Totally different mentality. Expansion minded as opposed to protecting turf. The IFG, within Inglewood were expansive and embraced the new “ruthless” landscape by one upping Crips with bringing gun play into the picture.
@troubleman80583 жыл бұрын
brims seemed to be like the counter part of the early crips, as far as beeing an umbrella gang with many sets, who were about expansion, only less successfull in the long run. if you look at the elgin interview and the territories that the brims had...they were bigger than the crips or just as big at one point, up until 71-72. they had sets in john muir area, broadway area, harvard park area,bonsallo area, on the eastside (mckinley etc), then they had the jungles and aliso village. crips had eastside westside and compton, but they really just had certain strongholds in those areas. but the crips won most of these territories from the brims and converted or terrorized the local brim sets into extinction.
