4.6L Cadillac DeVille P0300 Random Cylinder Misfire Diagnostic "Easy Fix"

In this video will be diagnosing a cylinder misfire on a Cadillac DeVille 4.6 L Northstar motor. I will show you how to identify which cylinder is misfiring if you have a random cylinder misfire P0300 and once you find out what cylinder is misfiring I will also show you how to find out what's causing the misfire.
Will be swapping spark plugs will be swapping ignition coils and watching the misfire graph on the scan tool to see if the misfire Falls the ignition coil or spark plugs. Also show you how to pull fuel injectors with the GM Factory scan tool.

I just happened to stumble onto your video when I was researching info on possible misfire on a 1990 Cadillac Deville (Fleetwood trim) with the 4.5L. It acts like a spark plug cable is grounding out. The rotor, cables, plugs were swapped out a few years ago. I'm not sure how to diagnose on a vehicle pre OBD-2 era. Great video though. It was insightful.

The fuel trim was 0 because I believe it was in open loop.

Mine was cylinder 3. Fun, fun. Could NOT get to 3 and 5. Would love to know how the heck you get the emissions stuff out of the way that sits directly over cylinders 3 and 5. 2,4,6 and 8 took 10 minutes. 1 and 7 same story. Need help with 3 and 5. There is a stiff aluminum tube that connects below it with two nuts that would also be fun to get to but that may be the only way. 3 and 5 coils are a pain in the butt. Help!!

I just got done doing mine. You have to take that bracket off. That's got the silver tube coming up to it. Be careful it's got a metal gasket in take the bracket Off

no carbon tracking or cracks...sometimes the plug looks good and its not!

In this case, the spark plug looks perfectly fine. No carbon tracking or anything but sure enuff it was bad. Not that often I see spark plugs fail internally without any evidence of the failure.

@@beemikeme ..I too have a Cadillac DeVille but I don't care much for CADILLAC'S nothing but problems ,, in fact I don't even like this modern vehicles I am an old school use to working on 350 engines and getting use to computer technology and hip hop rap crap Big mouth punk's from the Jerry's springers quack QUACKS generations of the yrs 1990 too 2012 is a hole different life style....ha ha . not that I am any better but I am old school

@@elmerpacheco1513 I am also old school and still have my 1972 Chevy pickup. However, although computer controlled, fuel injected engines can be more complicated, in my opinion, modern automotive technology is far superior. I used to have a 1969 GTO for 12 years and I could not be in stop and go heavy traffic with the AC on without worrying about the engine overheating. Also, I got 10 miles per gallon on the highway. Modern engines can idle for hours with the AC on and never worry about overheating. Modern muscle cars get at least 20 MPG on the highway.
