Thank you so much for making these videos. I steer a lot of parents and students I teach/coach to your videos. They are short, interesting, and of high quality and get the point across. I don't know how many kids think that squats and Olympic lifts aren't needed to be explosive.
@MichaelFriesen003 жыл бұрын
One critique that I have found very helpful. When doing the trap bar jumps do it off of blocks. That way when you hit the ground the blocks take the impact of the added load rather than your knees. If you do the movement with light weights it shouldn't matter too much but if you really start to overload on the lift then doing it without the blocks to absorb the impact can be very risky.

Can you just let go on the way down to prevent landing with the load

Trapbar jumping Vs back squat jumps

I'm an older guy who use to hang clean when I played university football and competed in the Canadian national rugby championships. I totally forgot I did until my friend became a crossfit coach and reminded me. They helped my speed and power but I could never jump unless lifted lol. I see the value in them but also the potential for injury without PROPER coaching from someone like you. I read that KB lifts can offer similar benefits with less need for coaching and lower risk of injury. I get that they won't replace olympic lifts but what are your thoughts?

Am I the only one cringing at the fact that some of these lifters are asking for serious injury? Knees being bent inwards on a squat? Bending of the back while doing squats? Drop the weight if you can’t do the exercise correctly!

Without seeing the lifters full scope of training reps, it’s hard to declare that anyone is at immediate risk of injury. these reps seem to be at maximal loads so probably not happening frequently in training.

Hey great info, thanks! About the trap bar jump, would you say the trap bar could be replaced by dumbells? Also what Kind of reps and Progression makes sense for these? Progress in weight or even go from higher weight (slower footcontact) to lower weight (quicker footcontact maybe more specific for jumping)?

How many sets and reps for each exercise?
@lancekleartafuang Жыл бұрын
3 to 4 reps and 4 sets. Because in these first 3 to 4 reps, they are the most explosive, the rest are giving fatigue to our muscles. Just 4 sets to get the only necessary intensity.

Yeshua Hamashiach is God in the flesh, the Son of God, the Word of God, and he died so that you may be presented blameless in the sight of the Father. And so you may inherit his kingdom. The LORD Yeshua Hamashiach is the only way to the Father and his kingdom. Repent of your sins accept him into your life as your LORD and Savior before it's too late, every day is not guaranteed. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me. May God bless you all.

Problem I have with this: Athletes with good verts were good at these movements. However are people ABLE to get much better at these movements / would improving these really improve vert? It seems to me the genetic motor unit recruitment they are blessed with is what makes them good at these + jumping and not so sure that you can improve your explosiveness and power much by performing them.
@lancem15832 жыл бұрын
You can, a very basic search would lead you to find data on Olympic lifts and vertical jump improvements. Common sense would hopefully help you realize improving strength and motor unit recruitment would increase vertical.
