Single leg squat is a pistol. Single leg means one leg is in use. Rear foot elevated split squats still have the rear foot in use for stability.

Do you prefer multiple sets with the same weight or ramping up to a heavy top set when doing olympic lifts and squats/presses? At the moment I focus on increasing the reps with a fixed on the minute (or 2 minute) weight. For example: Power cleans on the minute. Start at 8 doubles. try to increase the reps to 8 triples over multiple weeks. Start again at 8 doubles with more weight. My sport is waterpolo. Am I on the right track here?

If you notice athletes that spend a large amount of time using barbell Olympic lifts like power lifters and football players aren’t that athletic compared to basketball players, track athletes, wrestlers. In a way those lifts actually sap athleticism by creating inflexible rigid athletes with limited ROM
@GarageStrength3 жыл бұрын
Not sure what you are saying. Powerlifters don't train Olympic lifts. Olympic Lifts improve mobility and doesn't make you rigid.
@smoore83 жыл бұрын
@@GarageStrength what I’m saying is strength is achieved through powerlifting or Olympic lifts…there isn’t really much difference. Athleticism is enhanced through agility/speed training, training with maces and clubs, boxing and wrestling, sprinting…improving strength in multiple planes of motion not just moving a heavy barbell in the saggital plane. If you want to build athleticism the movements need to be 3D and athletic
@GarageStrength3 жыл бұрын
@@smoore8 I don't disagree, but as far as athleticism in improving strength, power, and explosiveness, the Olympic lifts are much more athletic than powerlifting movements due to increased monility and high rate of coordination which transfers over to athletic sports.
