Definitely need to start counting after second card is dealt. I keep track of every card at a time and notice it takes a lot of focus and brain power

Something I found was when learning to count I found my counting would start going backwards in negative counts (high cards=+1) And I found saying L/R for left or right helped because I saw a number line in my head only did it for a week and now I rarely screw up

8:21 I know you were just playing basic strategy, but saying this just because I noticed, that's a deviation where you stand (4 or higher). The hand after is a deviation where you surrender (3 or higher)

This is very cool. Thank you for the content. My question might be a bit innocent and silly - but I dont really get how this helps you win? Where and when this counting actually comes in play and changes your decision? You played basic strategy, and you played it whether the count was D5 or +5, so how did it matter? Do you see my question?

You are right in saying that I just played basic strategy here. When I mentioned the levels you could add in, one would be adding in a bet spread. This is based on the true count, which answers your question about how that helps. This is a great drill as you can do either just basic strategy, basic strategy, and running count (what I did), B.S. RC, and a bet spread, or if you're ready for all of it: BS, RC, Spread, and deviations.
