I followed standard medical advice and stopped cleaning my ears with Q-tips and quickly ended up with BL wax impactions! It was the worst thing, to be losing your hearing and you get very nervous when you can't hear what is happening around you. I left my appointment a totally different person- went from hunched and nervous to standing tall and smiling just because I could hear! The impact of hearing loss is much greater than I ever knew. The doctor told me to go back to cleaning my ears out like I always did.
@mindymorgan84796 ай бұрын
This is what I say if I didn't clean my ears out about every other night with a Q-tip then I would be at the doctor's office every month coughing like crazy and they wouldn't be able to get anything out either. And why don't they just make you tip smaller where they don't show things and they get things out because I just take off about half of the cotton and use it around the canal and make sure not to shove anything further and it works great. My husband on the other hand does not clean his cuz he goes to the ear doctor on a frequent occasion just to get ear wax sucked out. What do they think those are made for not cleaning your ears using it on your fingernails, any other thing that they're just lying about because trust me there for your ears
@mindymorgan84796 ай бұрын
I have a question why is it that you guys never trim all that crazy hair that some of the patients have? You can't say that it's all normal because most people do not have it it's like 1 and 20 year videos I see have people that have hair just sticking straight out of their ears and no one ever plucks it and acts like it's not a problem when you can't see anything and there's a wax embedded in that crap all the way down to their eardrum just about. Can we do a PSA to old man not to put their head to the side and shave that stuff with a nose hair trimmer because it just gets embedded down into your wax and you can tell. Does anybody else see this and then nobody else notices and says it's fine?
@mindymorgan84796 ай бұрын
The guy with the dome in his ear had encrusted hard wax stuck to his ear drum. Do you think that makes it perhaps not vibrate like it's supposed to? Sorry I'm used to the videos where they don't touch the walls and mainly use suction and it's all completely clean even by the ear drum even if they use oil to debride it it's so squameaky clean after. After all the stuff didn't come out on its own the first 75 years of their life obviously don't you think maybe we should get it all the way clean? I'm sure I just don't get it after all not a doctor at all. Just seems that they came all the way to the doctor and at times I feel they just get some of the wax out.

This voice is ideal for reading materials and stories for relaxation. So soothing and mellow… 🥱😴 The vagus nerve (10th cranial nerve) actually travels throughout most of the body. It runs along the digestive system and has been identified as a possible agitator to conditions such as IBS. It’s also thought that migraine syndrome could be affected by this nerve. The third patient just had the sweetest voice. She seemed like she would be a very kind patient to have, very attentive and interested in doing what she could to prevent these types of appointments.

I believe that it is an old instinct we have encommon with for example bonobo chimpanzee with become almost in a state of trance we groom eachother just like they become hyperfocused on the painstaking process it creates a pleasure response in our brain because at one time grooming eachother like thats was necessary for social survival in the group. Just a little armchair antropological psychology.

@@nothankyou5524 They sell ear cleaning kits at your local pharmacy. They are safe and useful for many people, but a person should ask their doctor if the kits are right for them (someone with a perforated eardrum or tubes aka grommets should NOT use them.) It may include an oily softener, and will definitely include a peroxide or something liquid that foams to loosen things up, and a bulb syringe that you use to flush the ear with water. Flushing is a normal treatment that you get at the ER or your GP if you have wax stuck in the ear. Nurses do it. Only doctors (ENTS) or audiologists should be going in there with instruments, which is why his staff doesn't do it. But idk why they don't use flushers for routine patients. As you can see the softener had mostly cleared the Downs' syndrome person's problem. It's weird that the doctor recommends a kit to some people but tells others to come in every six months.

Afterwards, his hearing was great. About a month ago, he experienced severe hearing loss in both ears. We went in to an ENT where they cleaned his ears out and instructed him to come back in a year, unless it happens again before the next appointment. His hearing seems to be declining and I’m afraid, he may need to have hearing aids in the future. My question is, do hearing aids cause excessive wax buildup? I’m just curious. Thank you!

What's the right relief pills for ear severe ear pains pls coz I've taken all possible relieves but no any effect
@drjent33505 ай бұрын
Sorry you are having significant pain! It depends on the source of the pain. An ENT consultation would be warranted!! Your Primary Care Doctor or local Urgent care should be able to refer you to an ENT.

لماذا يترك الناس الصمغ في آذانهم حتى يصل هذه الكمية !!! ألا ينظفونها ؟

My husband gets annual hearing tests by his employer. He says the nurse giving the hearing exam looks at his ears and his hearing loss can't be earwax. Should I get him to see an ear nose and throat doctor to be sure or is it likely just hearing loss? It's becoming a problem for me if not for him because he doesn't hear me and he says he doesn't need hearing aids, but requires subtitles for watching movies.
@drjent335010 ай бұрын
Yes, he needs a formal diagnostic hearing evaluation, aka audiogram, and someone to look in his ears. Thanks for watching!

Would it prevent that cough reflex if you gave the patient codeine before doing the extraction?
@drjent335020 күн бұрын
Possibly! It’s a good thought but in the current environment giving out narcotics for non invasive procedures would be frowned upon.
@RationalGaze21620 күн бұрын
@@drjent3350 The pendulum swings far too widely on narcotics. A few years ago, you couldn't walk into an ER without being handed 90 percocets on the way out. But now, even legitimate pain patients are turning to illicit fentanyl & heroin because doctors are terrified of prescribing opioids.

Now for the patient with the cough, maybe if the doctor could have tried to apply a minimum amount of fluid for wax removal, could it have possibly made it a bit easier on the patient even if having to remove it in smaller pieces? 🤔 my ears stuggle to produce wax most of the time but constantly feels as though my ears need to be cleaned for the amount of ear wax in this first patients ear it'd take possibly maybe around 2 to 3 years without cleaning my ears at all

Why not use water to flush it out instead of using that tool to take it out and touch that nerve???
@drjent33503 ай бұрын
Its an option, but not a good one. Water irrigations has inherit complications that are much higher than manual debridement. Also once the debris starts moving it will also stimulate the cough reflex. I have irrigated once in the past 5 years for beach sand impaction because the sand was obstructing the suction. Thanks for watching!

@@drjent3350 I've had water to flush out the cerumen three years ago It was the only proposed solution at a public hospital in Mauritius Do you think a manual removal with succion is absolutely necessary ?
@drjent33503 ай бұрын
@@varoonnone7159Manual debridement for my specialty is considered standard of care. That could be with micro instrumentation including micro suction. In a non specialty clinic standard of care would most likely be curette or irrigation based on training. Do you what you know well and do it safely!
