Short, crispy & informative video. I would recommend all the recreational players like myself to incorporate these footwork in their game. I learned them intuitively but over long time and it's one of the differentiating factors of my game from the rest.

@streetninja23
@streetninja23 5 ай бұрын
@@AyushiRajput-vp2fn Learn - Yes. Master - No. 1) Footwork matters more in Singles than Doubles. 2) If you have faulty footwork then there might be something wrong with your grip and swing too. 3) If you try to focus on new footwork then your current grip + swinging habits might not sync well with it and therefore disturb your shot timing as well. 4) I would advise you to focus more on service, service returns and defence for 10 days. p.s :- When I play singles with a superior player then even my footwork breaks down because of his deception and less practice.

I know this is old video but I have an opinion to share about 3:34-3:50. In Korea, some coaches refer fast tempo as landing before you hit the shuttle(in quick swing). This means you sacrifice some control to hit the shuttle at a tempo faster than normal, gaining advantage in speed and pressuring the opponent. Likewise, landing after you hit the shuttle provides opportunity for deception and takes some tempo out. But the coaches also mention this is for advanced players, amateur should still land just before hitting the shuttle.

Congratulations on the great videos produced! One thing not mentioned but important to explain is what you do from a more neutral or front on split step or if you anticipate incorrectly and are therefore at a different angle to what is show in the video. All demos are with the same split step position which will be very different depending on where you have played the shot. Keep up the great work 👍

It's interesting in how so many movements coincide with other sports like the way you split the legs apart is similar to boxing where your front leg is used to support your punch from your back hand as well as to provide mobility and stability to block and dodge other punches.

It just goes to show your information and tips are timeless 😁 I watched this video and a few others of yours this morning before a 90 minute Badminton set. All the games were Doubles, I/We Won all but two games in all that time. I have been playing a long time but have so many ingrained errors in my game it’s a shame. However, the two main things I used was lots more Sashee and Racket Up. I normally take 3 shirts as I sweat them up so quickly that I change at the end on every hour (normally play for 3 hours). Today I only used the one shirt as I did not have to work very hard. I like my Footwork now 😜 and can’t wait to get on court again to see how many other tricks I can use. Thx Jenny & Greg 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Good footwork allows you to be so much more efficient around the court - it helps you to be a bit lazy, as you've found! People often wonder why I can cover so much court at my age with apparently(!) so little effort! Good footwork and anticipation every time! 🙂

Hi - Thank you so much for your tutorial. I play Badminton on the weekends in New York and practice shadow footwork very religiously so this will help me a lot. Question - I love the way Ms. Ratchanok moves on court - so light and elegant. Does she use any special movement technique or is that just her natural movement style - You know how some people have naturally beautiful handwriting - is it like that ? I'd love to move with grace just like she does on court. Please advise and much love to both of you.

Amazing video! I had a question that I couldnt' find an answer anywhere though - it seems like split step is an anticipatory movement, so that means I have to decide on a direction before I actually see where the shot is going. But what happens if I do a directional split step in the wrong direction? Or is it more like, the start of the split step is anticipatory, but then you decide on the direction "mid-air" after seeing the opponent's shot? Thanks in advance!!

Hello, wonderful video ! I just have a question concerning what you said at the end to force ourselves to push also with our non-dominant legs. I struggle with this and have issue to transfert my bodyweight into this leg (the right one for me as a left-handed) no matter the movement like after a split step or after a scisor-kick making my recovery very slow since we have to push forward with it.... Any piece of advice/exercices with this ? Thank you :)

Just a thought. On the front court backhand side, you don't always want to bring your racquet (dominant) leg around and back to the neutral position immediately. Instead you might want to keep your dominant foot in front and shuffle back first. This is because if you played a net shot, there is a possibility that your opponent will net, too. In that case, you don't want to be caught still "bringing your racquet leg around". Keeping the racquet foot in front can make you faster to return net shots. If the opponent lifts, just perform a split and turn your hip, you will have time :D
@ferrisni2256
@ferrisni2256 Жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing for the backhand corner, this was something my coach actually corrected. I'm right-handed and I had a habit of stepping with my left foot first and then my right foot and returning the same way back. My coach told me to go right foot first and chasse step forward and recover the same way back. This way if like you said the opponent nets as well you can easily chasse step forward and reach the shuttle.

You guys are great in conveying the detail. But in this video, just got a tad confusing at the end, when the caution of not using your non racket leg. If, that is conveyed in the beginning as a corner stone for the 4 corners cover, I guess it could ease the understanding. But, i agree, no practice no perfection.
