Multiple-day Wild Camping Adventure, tracking through one of the last Wild areas in Europe! On this spontaneous camping trip, I took the train from the Netherlands to travel to Eastern Europe. For years already I have been intrigued to explore the rare wild areas in Europe. Stories about lush, still untouched forests. Are they really that wild? Stories about illegal logging and murdering of forest rangers. Stories about bears taking over towns.. …have brought me to Romania. Here I hope to get an idea of the dynamics between humans and nature in these vast landscapes, where we can still find some of the wild origins, of what the temperate zone would have looked like. Something that is not existent anymore in my home country. Let me share this camping trip with you guys! Enjoy!

Hello! I live in Romania and I'm glad to see people enjoying the beauty of the nature here! I just hope people would stop destroying nature, they will only realize how severe these illegal operations are, when it's already too late... I wish I would've been able to meet you and say "Hello!", at least, but I'm sure I'll have another chance, since you seem to have enjoyed your stay in Romania! Stay safe out there!

@@Tonirel But if the wood is getting more and more expensive, it means the wood cutting is slowing down, because scarcity = value. If people cut fewer trees, there is less wood available for buying, and therefore is more expensive, assuming the demand for wood stays the same. Basic economics.

I just discovered your amazing channel and I am absolutely stunned and surprised about this video in specific. I am myself half romanian and I roamed as one of the very few people these remote virgin forest valleys in Fagaras. This might be the first video on youtube where someone explores one of these valleys and im happy more and more awareness raises to protect these hidden gems. From what it looks like this must have been Valea Urlea, where I climbed the last time in 2014. I also filmed my trip through another wild valley in the very west of Fagaras and I hope I can upload the film in the next weeks. There need to be released more awareness to these last gems.

In Romanian, it's called "șindrilă de lemn". Most houses in the past (about 100-200 years ago) had this kind of roof. Then they switched to something that we call "țiglă ceramică", which is made from sand and argil (potter's clay), burned into fire, which turns into something strong as a brick. However, nowadays, most new houses have metallic roofs.

Smart move to carry a whistle around your neck 24/7. I made that mandatory in all outdoor classes. Where bear spray works for it to be efficient they are already to close for comfort. So in addition I would carry a loud air horn. They are pretty cheap and not illegal in most countries. I can imagine all this camera gear does weight a lot but your camera work is great giving us a great view of nature.

These seems like a ton of work placing a camera so get a shot of you walking away and having to back track to get it! You would be in heaven here in North America with all our our vast wilderness. I can't imagine going into bear territory without a gun or at least bear spray. Im surprised there are no big cats there, they are all over in North America, and even in places the local officials do not official recognize they are

You got yourself in a potential dangerous situation following that river down the wild valley without turistic markings just by yourself. Bears live in those dense bushy places you could have easily been attacked by surprise and probably nobody would have known where you dissapeared. Fagaras is my favourite mountain range, it is like a little Yellowstone, sadly the corruption is destroying the virgin forests year after year.
