When I travel to my favorite camping spot, I take my fiberglass canoe, two paddles, camping gear and food to stay for two weeks alone. I register at the ranger station, unload my canoe and gear and take off. Two portages later I'm at my destination. I unload my gear, including my canvas tent and pull my canoe half-way up the hill out of the lake. I pull my duffle bag of food up into a tree on a rope. It is my understanding that putting your food up into a tree limb is a rule in many wilderness areas around The Great Lakes region. It just make sense to sleep as far away from your food as possible in bear country. I like to visit this area in the early Spring of the year. Less people are around then. Many times, I've spent the entire two weeks without seeing anyone else. Solitude restores my soul. I'm an old man of 65 now, yet, those good memories of spending time there remain.
@XanderBudnick3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing - we often Haul our food in bags up in trees. in the food barrels sometimes we just leave them, especially in more remote areas where the bears are scared of humans. I enjoyed reading your comment, thank you

2 years later, a nasty war broker out in Israel. Every day, I ask myself if some gunman or knife attacker or car rammer decides he wants to kill Jews when I'm the target. Every day I have to take shelter from rockets blindly aimed at civilian residential areas and the alarm is always a reminder, someone has fired missiles, I could be next.. Every day, you hear loud explosions all around you. It's been a month like this. I'm writing this to express gratitude. In days like this watching Xander's videos of Canadian wild nature frees my soul from its earthly confines. Today, for 58 minutes and 30 seconds, I was in a better place. So thank you Xander.

I love the Canadian wild😍😍can't get enough of it 😍😍we don't have such forrests in Germany. Could be because Germany is too tiny to have such big areas of wilderness. All forrests here are either commercially used or are national parks. So you can just camp on real camping places. No real chance to make big wilderness trips here where you are really alone. And making fire is a big no go in Germany either. Or in other words : the spots where you are aloud to make open fire are rare... Damn rare. 😞That's why I enjoy your videos so much. It's like I am there. I nearly can smell the fresh air and that warms my heart. Thank you for it. Really big thank you 😘🤗😍
