That was epic mate. A solid adventure, speccy scenery and some great editing. Loved the quick zoomed in cuts. Hats off the Luke for doing swagman style. That would have been brutal carrying that swag up those mountains. 😂 You boys both earned that beer at the end. I’m currently in my tent, camping on the edge of a cliff in the blue mountains and managed to watch this masterpiece with one bar of 4g. Shoulda just saw the sunset I had. It was a proper nature emergency.

Hahaha one bar of 4G. That sounds like me down here in Lime Bay in Tassie. Doing exactly the same 🤣 Just watched Xanders bloody long vid in the lowest quality possible. Still excellent haha Thanks though mate, I appreciate it. I definitely had fun with those grainy zooms. I was actually in tears while editing a couple of those tbh 😂 Hope you got some good shots of that sunset brother! Enjoy!

Thank you for advocating for respect for our bushland and shared camping grounds. it's amazing that we even need to speak about bush etiquette but it seems like many still don't get the picture. It's just so un-Australian. Loved the hour-long format by the way.
@TheSillySwagman
@TheSillySwagman 3 ай бұрын
Thanks Kaylah. And yes, it’s sad, unfortunately I’m not sure what it even means to be “Australian” these days. Our culture towards the bush is actually pretty average as much as we like to hype up our bushman/swagman history. Those days are long gone. It’s a cultural thing for sure. I’ve been full time on the road for nearly 6 months now and the amount of childish 40 year olds I see ruining campgrounds is unbelievable. So it’s not just the kids either. Crazy! Anyway, enough of a rant for now 😂 Thank you for watching 🙏

I’m a 76 (& a half!) Y. O. Woman from west Aussie and usually don’t watch KZbin’s as long as this one, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you for taking us along. I also watch Scotty’s Gone walkabout. Haven’t watched The Bearded Bushranger yet, but looking him up now. Just wish I was fit enough to do even just a little. At one time I wanted to do a bit of the Bibulmum Track which goes from Perth to Albany - but I never did get round to it. Look it up. If you come this way at least do some of it. Once again, thanks. Australia is a wonderful place. ❤

What an epic ... also enjoyed Luke's video of this one. I love the hour long version for a hike like this because I kind of feel like we get a good feel for how tough it was. A great way to have a taste of nature (if we can't get there ourselves, especially). Take care Mattsy!

Thanks Fiona. Yeah that’s what I thought, too. It really was such a slog I thought a short vid wouldn’t do it justice, and like you said a lot of people want to be taken on an adventure and see things that maybe they’re not able to themselves. I appreciate that feedback 😄 Enjoy the rest of your weekend Fiona! 🙏🙌

What idiot would crap in a fireplace on such a beautiful mountaintop? It's bad enough to see it on the side of a trail, but to climb all that way and shit on it is a sad case of 'I don't give a care.' The wilderness teaches us respect and all good things. For a person to do that means they are twisted beyond twisted. How sad that he (or she) has been so jaded by the modern world.

Nice hike 👍 What maps do you use in your GPS?
@TheSillySwagman
@TheSillySwagman 3 ай бұрын
Beautiful hike out there. The Garmin in reach just uses the Garmin maps. I only pull it out if I really want to verify something, I don’t generally navigate with it. On actual trails I use the All trails app. It’s perfect for that. GPS always seems to be accurate in showing your position relative to the trail if you happen to walk off it. When it comes to finding camps I do that at home before I leave just using maps on the internet.

Poop in the fire?! Who the hell does that? I’m sure the psycho thought it would be funny when the fire started to stink. As a Canadian, you’d think I would think you were silly to get so excited by a few snow flakes, but since I was a little kid, I’d excitedly tell my dad every year when we had out first snow. Being from Ireland, he was never too impressed, but I’d report it every year, till the day he passed, about 10 yrs ago. I still think of him every first snow, but now it’s a blotter sweet sort of thing.

do you ever see forest people ( the hairy kind) in your travels. I saw one two years ago, first time ever in my 64 years on a 7 night hiking trip in northern NSW, in a NP. It scared the shit out of me and a friend. We saw him in the twilight evening plain as day' he was 40 feet from us just standing there, he backed away quietly and disappeared. You can imagine we were pretty freaked out all night, but he did not come back. I wouldn't take anyone into that area again to try to find them, I don't want them hunted or harmed. But it was a surreal experience.

Haha, some of your darker humor coming through in this edit Silly. 4:10, I know that tune 😂 It is really interesting to see you and Luke @TheBeardedBushranger side by side, taking a very different approach to each other. I relate to both, so it was like both my inner perspectives out in front of me. On the one side was a military-inspired, contemporary approach with elements of heritage. Not too far out with the glow pink plastic.. nice and subdued, realistic, fitting the times with the timelessness. Then there's the admirable re-enactment of a romantic history. A living historian, keeping knowledge and experience of the past, holding a light there so we don't lose sight of where we've come from. Luke did it tough, hey. I could see that more so in your video than in his. I respect and appreciate the effort. I would've loved to have seen a discussion between you, about your different approaches, acknowledging the difficulty of the old, the benefits of the new, imagining somewhere in between. You did a great job capturing the scenery and legs of the journey. Isn't it a spectacular range! You'll be seeing more like that in Tazzy soon, I imagine. Western Arthur's? See if you can find the scorched earth patch where I burnt my tent down, me in it! That was the moment I started looking into the past, pre plastic era. I reckon that poo in the fireplace was left by The Button Man! It looked like a freshy too. He was laying the ribbon, both pink plastic and white paper, trying to mess you up, lead you down the wrong way. Couple of KZbinrs bringing in the crowds.. he needed to make his presence known. 😂 Anyway, nice video, a pleasure to watch. I like the dynamic and balance between you and Luke. Regards, Leigh

Mate that shit in the fireplace reminds me of a weird encounter... Hiked into Morton NP a few years back and just off a corner on a windy decent was what looked like 2 feet worth of turds in a pile then what appeared to be a third of a shitter roll just strewn over a tiny tea tree. How anyone could shit that much was bewildering. Then I went back to the same spot maybe 6 weeks later and I saw the exact same bloody thing only just done again not a day or two before. Like wtf seriously?!
