Enjoy your video. I'm not sure of your location and the law, but with all those fish rising, live bait, like night crawlers, grasshoppers, small frogs. Exposing yourself to the fish will spook them, long poll with line attached, hook and bait, stand behind Bush or tree and lower your bait. Another tip trying to cast in tight areas, is to use your rod as a slingshot. Hold your lure, aim and let it go. Beautiful country, good water loaded with trout.

That was an absolutely beautiful spot mate. If you're going asado style over the fire, spin the split stick around so it forms a V Then tie off to the outside sticks that are through the fish. Cooks even all over . Fresh trout is delicious.. really delicious. Good luck with it all legend.
@TheSillySwagman
@TheSillySwagman 8 ай бұрын
Ahhh ok nice, I’ll try that next time mate! Cheers 🙌 I had wondered how it would go with the section under the split stick but that’s how I had seen it done. It did cook fine but that does sound like a better way of doing it. Thanks legend!
@theholycow8448
@theholycow8448 8 ай бұрын
@@TheSillySwagman the sticks through it hold it nicely mate. It all goes belly up sometimes if the fires a bit hot though. You have to tie something around the bottom of the split to stop it going further though. Sorry forgot to mention that. You cooked it perfectly. Keep living the dream we can't, it's the only thing that keeps some of us sane.

Just a hint my friend. All fish will face upstream, anticipating food to flow downstream into their mouths. You were fishing from the upstream, and they saw your moustache from afar, so they just laughed at you. It's best to sneak up behind them downstream, while they look upstream, and to cast upstream, and let the lure run downstream. Did you learn those survival skills from Gordon Dedman? Love your videos (I'm 69 yrs old from Canada, eh.)

Hi mate loved your location. I've done a lot of small stream trout fishing and would like to give you a few tips. Firstly you need to finesse fish these smaller streams. I would use 4lb line. No sinker just bait or small soft plastic. Only fish upstream as the fish are facing upstream. You come from behind. If you can present a scrubworm or mudey above the fish without spooking them, letting the bait naturally drift down stream you will catch plenty of trout.

Nice one Matzi . Had to laugh when you couldn't find your camp , its happened to me before too . I now carry some reflective rope , comes in handy to mark out a camp at night , especially when I go kayak camping and paddling at night . Please don't give me any nasty surprises this time , thanks

Haha! I was genuinely puzzled for a good little while hey. Distance always goes out the window when it gets dark. It was another 50m up the hill.

@TheSillySwagman I've found a place yesterday, full of what looks like massive rainbow trout! Secret and amazingannnd near where I've spent a fair bit of time. This morning I swam the fever off with cows, an eagle ,ducks and the fish. Can't wait to get my rod and go back!! This is such a beautiful spot and video. Too much of a camo shelter😆 Can never have too much camo👌

Awesome video man, keen as to see more of these plus the multi day hikes 👌 whereabouts did you get your rod and shirt from? I’m looking for a lightweight rod like this to pack away and adventure with. Cheers.
@TheSillySwagman
@TheSillySwagman 8 ай бұрын
Thank you! 🙏🙏 Planning another multi day hike but just need some not so fire friendly weather to do so. The rod is just from Anaconda. I think it’s the only one they stock and the shirt is from 5.11 - really hard wearing shirt and dries really quick too. I’ve been wearing that one for three years on pretty much every adventure and it has seen hell 😆

Fantastic video Mattsy! full time youtuber content off to a killer start! 👌Def ops story is giving me flashbacks haha, not Infantry but in my earlier years in Cav spending 48hrs plus straight driving lavs at no more than 5km/h and staring through the fishbowl for half of it out at cultana, your mind seriously goes loopy aye haha Good stories right there, definitely some of the more fun memories from Army for sure 👌 Looking at heading over to the valley to see family and hopefully do some wildcamping with a few mates, but with the recent fires up at Scone their anxiety around bushfires is through the roof, any tips for getting them to still go with me? I live down in Adelaide now and SA has strict regulations against wild camping so im keen as to get back into it while I visit.

Thanks mate! Oh man, I had some wild rides in the APC’s down in Cultana, a couple crashes too 😂 Yeah that’s fair hey, I know my mate in Scone was watching a fire in the distance so that’s understandable. Just pick a good window of weather and there’s plenty of places to wild camp on the outskirts with nice views so you don’t have to worry about dragging them into the heart of the bush!
