Option 3 because I love adding chains to most of my movements, so this will fit nicely👍. I’ve got option 1 setup from seeing it several months ago on your channel, so thanks Buddy for some great videos🙏

I think I will go with 1 for the simplicity, but 3 is also very attractive because of the resistance profile. Option 4 not a fan of, and option 2 just seems like an ineffective version of option 3. It swings and just looks not good. But how awesome that you've provided options to pick from? Super cool! Thank you!

The banded option is interesting too, I’ll experiment with it as well! I sent you a small donation on PayPal, it’s not much but it’s better than nothing I guess! Have a good one!

I like all the options. Number 4 won't work as well for my particular setup because my rack has pop-pin safeties that don't allow a band to be positioned as easily once the first side has been set. But great suggestions!

Awesome video! This was exactly what I needed and was looking for. I appreciate all your suggestions, but am gonna try the ones with the chains first, I will attempt to tether the cable first off with a small chain, if it does not succeed, I will move on the to chain method hanging from right above the plate. I just need to get the chains, guess I will go to Lowes. What about the straps? Where would I look to get a few of those? Thanks for your great video.

Awesome! “Soft Loop TieDown Straps” can be purchased from any hardware store for about $1 each. Also - there is an Amazon link in the description of this video for the exact ones that I used in the video. An Amazon link to the chains are also down in the description. Nice video! I like cable systems but hate having to load plates this way wish somebody made a loading pin with side loading so you don't have to latch and unlatch it each time and far easier to do! I also don't want to pay the $1300 for Rep's cables as they're 2:1 ration and takes 300lbs to feel like 150.
@DesignBuildLift
@DesignBuildLift Жыл бұрын
Thank you! 🙏🤘💪I also have thought that such a loading pin would be great. If I could weld I would definitely attempt it. I love my Rep Fitness Ares attachment (purchased after I made THIS video). It has two 300 lbs stacks, where the functional trainer capbility has a 2:1 ratio, but I am glad that it does. This is done to improve the range of motion and smoothness of the operation. Without the 2:1 ratio the Functional trainer’s cable travel length would be too short (the stack would hit the top of the guide rods before you get a full Range of motion for many exercises).
@chrisdonnell2575

Ok that makes a lot of sense! Does it fit 100% in the 16 inch weight addition? I have the 30+16 and hoping it can fit back there. I think thats the best option. What functional strength exercises do you use it for?@@DesignBuildLift

How do you stop the cable from spinning and basically untwisting itself. Had that happen to two cable so far. I can hear when it’s about to break as the cable travels over the pulley and see the distortion in the cable protective sheathing
@DesignBuildLift
@DesignBuildLift Жыл бұрын
Great question! Happens to me, too. Will happen to everyone. I just replace mine when I know its about to break. The vinyl coated cable from the hardware store is not the same cable that equipment manufacturers use. I think the only option to prevent this is to upgrade to better cable. Of course you could also switch to rope/cord (but then you have to deal with knots/tangles which is why I stick with the cheap vinyl coated cable). 🤘🙏💪
@lym3204
@lym3204 7 ай бұрын
Your post made me aware of the problem so I will give you the solution I used. The cable is spinning because the plate is spinning causing the cable to continuously twist. On the side of the cable that attaches to the handle, I inserted a swing swivel that allows the wire to untwist itself.
@ogboost7610
@ogboost7610 11 ай бұрын
What about cable twisting. Have broken two cables from twisting
@DesignBuildLift
@DesignBuildLift 11 ай бұрын
My opinion: you can’t prevent it. The cheap vinyl coated cable that I used will break. The trick is to replace it before it breaks. See 17:12 of this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZ3Jl6ebmLJ2ocksi=07HgZUMuVEaJqNkh When it gets dark gray, it is time to replace it. Cheers! 🤘💪🙏

Easiest way is to just use a second pulley. You work against one pulley, the weight is only ever pulled vertically. No swing.
@DesignBuildLift
@DesignBuildLift 11 ай бұрын
That didn’t work for me. In fact it made the “whip” even worse for me. In this OLD video at 3:20 you can see swing with two pulleys while pulling straight down. Link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKCUiIapoZtlbMUsi=e_EZbOiI5XzRzH9U
@jon9509
@jon9509 11 ай бұрын
@@DesignBuildLift Interesting. Two differences in your setup and mine are that my pulleys are larger diameter and my cable is smaller diameter and looks more flexible. I wonder if either of those are factors but it's good to learn that my experience isn't universal anyway. I had another thought while thinking about this. It'd be a little more setup and you'd have to double the weight for a given exercise but I've been thinking about doing a snatch block setup with a pulley at the loading pin to get more range of motion in the cables without the loading pin hitting a pulley (which happens sometimes if I want to do cable flyes or something). Thanks for the video and response.
