If you're releasing videos for sleep, then lower the background sounds, level the volumes, and don't have abrupt music at the beginning and end.

Definitely, it's disturbing when you doze off and all of sudden the volume goes loud, it's almost like subliminal marketing but more annoying.

I remember when it went down. When the problems started everyone was glued to the news for progress of the journey. My uncle was a Great Lakes fisherman explaining what was going on. I when we got the news it floundered it was devastating. Lightfoot’s song would always bring back the feelings of that day. His line about 14 more miles they’d have reached Whitefish Bay, we had crossed our fingers that the ship would make it there.

Fun fact for anyone reading comments, the Michipicoten recently had a scare, a call was put out that they had a 15 degree list and pumps were turned on. Another vessel came to her aid to unload to help reduce the list, she was able to limp back to port where a 13’ gash was discovered and was told to be a fatigue crack. She almost went down too.

What's a fatigue crack?
@ThrasherGnar
@ThrasherGnar 4 ай бұрын
@@jakenruss A metal fatigue crack is a crack that forms in a metal part due to repeated stress or loading. The crack grows slightly with each loading cycle, and continues to grow until it reaches a critical size. This critical size occurs when the stress intensity factor of the crack exceeds the fracture toughness of the material, causing rapid crack propagation and fracture.

I lived on the shore of Lake Superior in the 1972. We stayed the winter there in a cabin near Marquette. Were any of the crew recovered? Were they at least wearing life vests? The storm had been raging for long enough to make some attempt to prepare.

Ok so from reading some of the comments here it looks as though many people don’t understand the Great Lakes; particularly Superior Michigan & Huron. They aren’t lakes in the traditional sense; they are vast inland seas (so are Erie & Ontario but they’re smaller even tho many ships have gone down in both) Superior is over 1300ft deep in places. It’s so large it creates its own weather patterns. And that it’s essentially a humungous bath tub as its landlocked save for the Soo Locks in Sault St Marie When a November gale hits (I was deer hunting as a kid w my dad & grampa & uncles in the UP when a storm hit later that night) the power is awesome. Sitting in the van on a 150ft bluff watching those 5-8ft white caps crash onto the rocks & cliff below was a sight to behold & one I’ll never forget I’ve watched documentaries about the Fitz & in one a Navy Captain talked about Superior in winter & how it was the worst seas he’s ever experienced; including the North Atlantic More than 10,000 wrecks lay at the bottom of the Great Lakes; they’re some of most treacherous waters in the world & VERY deserving to be in the first part of this fantastic video Come to Michigans “west coast” apart from the women lol I’ll put our beaches up against any other in the world. Grand Haven, Traverse City, South Haven, Petoskey, etc

@@monimax89 I was being facetious about my comment but it’s not too far from the truth In terms of the cost of a vacation to our West Coast, the natural wonders that go up & down the coastlines of the lower peninsula (again, no sharks lol) Lake Michigan is absolutely beautiful No salt in the air, awesome lighthouses, beaches that aren’t overcrowded or too “raucous” and the forests & sand dunes that border the lakes offer stunning views few other places in the US can match

Yep. Lake effect can make huge impacts on weather up there!! I remember being a kid, and thinking I'd go take a dip in Lake Superior, made it waist deep and came back in. It's miserable cold even in summer. That being said, the great Lakes are some of the prettiest and most interesting parts of the country and the depth and sizes never cease to amaze me, each and every time I visit, no matter how many times I've seen them.
