4 Incredible AMBURANA Finished BOURBONS, Which one is the BEST?

Good on ya for doing this blind. I'm one of the Amburana haters. Out of curiosity I added about 1/2 an ounce of RD1 Amburana to an infinity bottle that was then completely filled... The amburana was STILL too strong for my preference and was burying the good bourbon notes. Eventually I got the bottle down to 75% and I topped it off with Benchmark Full Proof... That finally did the trick. The Amburana was finally tamped down enough that I caught slight wiffs of the cinnamon sugar on the palate that quickly pivoted back to bourbon and just left this slight sugary coating on the finish. It basically went from Cinnamon toast crunch to a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar on actual toast. That was decent. I think the Amburana has a better home finishing like an agricole rum or something. That could be interesting.

Yeah some of them can get to strong for sure! Interesting experiment with the infinity bottle, love the notes you were able to eventually get out of it.

Amburana is a very strong, overpowering flavor. It’s like adding fresh garlic or dill seasoning to chicken…..or ginger to a smoothie, it’s gonna stand out! Glad you were able to rescue your infinity bottle! Well done.

I like Rio, Barrel, and RD ONE Amburana, but can only have 1 pour every once in a while. I just got the Lucky Seven New Yorker Amburana, but it is much stronger. The Starlight Cigar Batch is so-so. I picked up a Jepson’s Amburana, but have not opened it yet. 🥃

If your able to get your hands on some Starlight “cigar batch” it’s hands down my favorite amburana finished bourbon I’ve had yet with Penelope Rio in second and RD1 in third

Oh... they added amburana to that blend? Well that sucks because my favorite store has a store pick of that coming in this year and I was going to buy it. I'm probably not going to buy it now. Rip my bonus points for buying that barrel pick :P

Staves is the plural of staff, just like wives is the plural of wife and wolves is the plural of wolf. You don't put a stave in a barrel just like you don't put a wive in a laundry room.
