FWIW, a High Loop configuration is no longer allowed in Wisconsin, an Air Gap is currently required.

Hey, my dishwasher drain was jerryrigged to a 3/8 inner diameter connector. Not to mention, the hose was extended about 10 feet with additional PVC (the dishwasher is a couple cabinets away from the sink). Is this causing the dishwasher pump to work too hard? The motor makes really jarring noise during the drain cycle nowadays, and it conks out before the dry cycle, so my dishes remain soapy. Have you encountered this problem?

If you have a disposal does the DW drain necessarily have to go into the disposal or can you close, or not open, the disposal inlet and give the DW its own drain, although I guess it needs to be before the P trap ( or does it?0 ?

Dishwasher hose needs to be before the p-trap to prevent sewer gas

The end of my garbage disposal hose is male and so is the end of my dishwasher drain hose. How do I connect the two? Is there a coupler I can use with some clamps?

Great Video however didn't answer my question, ours is dishwasher to drain pipe and the hose coming from the dishwasher comes over top of the board like your pic shows, but the inlet to the pipe is located higher that the one on your pic and loops down a few inches below the inlet before coming back up to connect to the drain pipe, is that right? After using washer there is over an inch of water at the bottom and the hose is clear?? Did that make sense? Any help appreciated!

What was the purpose of replacing the drain line? He never elaborated on that.
@thatjlyn Жыл бұрын
The purpose is to correct the install. There is a great old video from This Old House that explains the science behind the high loop. I came for this video though for additional and detailed install directions. The high loop will prevent backwash from going into the dishwasher and food sitting in the line.
@corymichael2583 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I don't get why you go to the extent of making this video just to NOT include why one is a high loop and the other is not. I mean... I can guess or look it up elsewhere but he never elaborates. Pointless video mostly.
@mts7274 Жыл бұрын
@@thatjlyn There was nothing wrong with the previous install. It already had the "high loop". All he did was replace the grey hose with a white hose. Did you even bother to watch the video?
@nadmak90937 ай бұрын
No where do you show where you are putting that vent part and from what I understand that is the purpose of changing the old pipe to the new one. Would be useful to know where that part goes! Thanks 🙏

So, if you have a keeper holding on to the old drain line, how does one really loosen it?
@stainpain773 ай бұрын
But isn't that a high loop on the side of the unit?
@harryjames2299 Жыл бұрын
What did he do with all that excess length he was holding in his hand after he attached the new part?
@corymichael2583 Жыл бұрын
Good question. Better question is why did he replace it in he first place? He never shows why. Never shows how the new line is a high loop and other one was not. Kind of funny.

yep, just showed us the simple way of attaching a hose.

I am looking for WHERE to connect my drainline to my Maytag dishwasher. MAYTAG SUCKS !!!! (No "clear" instructions OR pictures in its installation manuel) as to where exactly the drain hose comes out of the bottom of the dishwasher.

My air gap was leaking suds from handwashing on the sink (dishwasher turned OFF). The plumber completely unhooked the hose this time from my air gap and it looks to be connected straight to my sink in an effort to stop the suds from spilling over the air gap. It looks like he didnt know why it was still leaking suds after the first time trying to fix it. IS THIS OK?? I haven't used the dishwasher yet and afraid that he may have fcked it up. I live in CA btw.

Ummm. Uhhhh. What makes what is shown a high loop over anything else? This video is grossly inaccurate. The loop on the side of the dishwasher is NOT a high loop. The high loop MUST be inside the cabinet. WTF?!
@frankodonnell99566 ай бұрын
That's a lot of waste water trapped in the long high loop. Make it shorter.

This is only one method 🤔

Not to mention he really didn't even show that method. He just replaced a drain hose. Lol.

Not helpful. Not everyone wants to connect to the sink.
