I really like Plymouth Rocks. Mine are very friendly as well. One likes to perch on my arm whenever I'm in the chicken yard.

I have a photo of dad with his barred Rocks.......from 1927. Old school lines; the birds are as big as him!! BR's have to be the friendliest birds of any breed.

I feel this is the traditional American chicken. I've seen pictures from the Depression, of my Grandparents, and there is a Rock with them. I think this bird was on most farms to help them through the Depression. Thanks for stopping by to watch and comment!

My BR rooster must have his cuddles every day and a sit beside. We do this every day for at least half an hour. His daughter wants to sit in my lap and she is just like a puppy. They are a gorgeous breed for sure.

Sorry about your Mom being attacked. The chicken, stuffing and gravy is so funny! We don't have any roosters due to having kids around frequently. We just don't need them and we love our hens! Cheers Laurie!

@@TheOldSwedesFarmso your hens are laying eggs without rooster ?
@TheOldSwedesFarm
@TheOldSwedesFarm 10 ай бұрын
@@waheedahmed7643 The hens will lay eggs on their own. You only need a rooster if you want fertilized eggs. Egg laying is not dependent on the rooster being around.

I think both are very old breeds from the east coast. Dominecker is older (I think). I love the black & white and the girls have an underlying blue/green sheen (when out in the sunlight). Beautiful birds!

Your girls lay really dark eggs compared to our Rockers. Our girls also have yellowish legs. Other than that, they are pretty similar. You'd love some Plymouth Rocks. Great layers and good lap chickens. Cheers Barb!

Grew up and have a row crop and cattle farm, no chickens. Learned something but why did the chicken cross the road?
@TheOldSwedesFarm
@TheOldSwedesFarm 2 жыл бұрын
Why did the chicken cross the road. In our case: 1) to be naughty and go to the neighbors to eat their grass and garden, or 2) to be in the road so trucks can maybe run you over! Cheers!

When you do the Buff Orpington 4 month update, and if any of them are roosters, could you point out the difference between roosters and hens please? I think I may can tell with my Welsummers. But my Buff Orpingtons just look fluffy. Hopefully that means they are all hens but I don't think I could be so lucky.
