The original guitarist, Shauna went to the same high school I did even though she was gone by the the time I got there by a year or two. I wound up jamming with her in someone's garage and she was playing trumpet with me on drums. I met Wanda through a mutual friend and partied with her one night. Shauna and Wanda, the first drummer, were the two coolest members of the group and were into metal and hard rock. What resulted on their debut album was definitely altered almost beyond recognition from the demos I first heard.

6:41 LOL. Gay people can be every bit as judgemental as anyone else. Their gay fans turning their backs on the band because they toned down their sexuality? It reminds me of my brother in law, who is a hair dresser. When he got engaged to a woman he lost a large portion of his gay clientele, because literally, he came out as straight. It's ok for them to judge people, but god forbid they get judged.

That story is ridiculous -- a pure made-up paranoia trip on the part of narcissistic bandmembers. "Normal" or "square" families really don't go around suggesting hipster potheads are unclean because they aren't "blonde" (although "if the shoe fits"... anyone dressing like a homeless mental case and hanging around public parks in San Francisco shouldn't be surprised if they are treated like that -- SF is the epicenter of homeless, public drug addiction, and rampant crime -- just ask Mayor London Breed!). 4 Non-blondes were drama queens about their "controversies." Probably doomed to self-destruction because of that. Like many rock bands, egos and narcissism usually undermine success. 4 Non-blondes were no different. Sounds like Linda Perry is doing fine as a songwriter on her own these days.

I hitched a ride from a German guy in Brittany once and he liked it so much, he'd recorded it over and over again on a cassette so it really did seem endless. 'I love this song!' he eventually explained, kind of superfluously. He had driven non-stop from Germany and was severely sleep deprived. I hadn't noticed, but the friend I was hitching with did. When we got out, she commented on it and, as she did, his car drifted forward on a slight slope and bumped another car.

It "was different than it is now" because nobody cared if a person was gay or not. Everyone knew they were gay but nobody cared. Sexuality doesn't define a person, it's not a persons entire identity, or make the person less talented. People knew this in the '80s and '90s, but the powers that be want you to think it was a major issue. If you grew up in the '80s (during the AIDS epidemic) you'd know what I'm talking about. The real tragedy that's happening is the revisionist history of today. Make no mistake people were far more tolerant and accepting in the '80s and '90s than they are today.

Being a 'Rock Star' is such a precarious position - often the lesser talented artists are able to capture the attention and fandom of listeners. Interestingly, many of the talented musicians/recording artists are able to have successful post-stardom careers as session musicians, songwriters and producers. One of my favorite musical artists is Todd Rundgren - who's had more success as a Producer than as a Musician/Singer.

Linda Perry's voice and song writing talents are amazing! Some bands weren't meant to stay together - there were so many bands in the early 90's that just disappeared after a few hit songs. It was like a testing ground for music and what the A&R "guys" thought people wanted to hear. Honestly, it was a pretty cool time to listen to music. Saw them perform at the Haight St fair in 1991 before they were famous. They also hung around my art school as they were friends with a talented sculptress there. They epitomized the early 90s culture in SF. I was very happy for them that they found some success. It was great to see the representation in popular culture.

When I first heard that song, I thought it was catchy. By the 5th time, I was already sick of it. By the 2000th time, I was ready to pull the trigger. I cannot think of a more annoying song, though "Single Ladies" by Beyonce is a very, very close second. Glad I got that off my chest. Carry on.

Same here. I didn't know anything about this band, and haven't since except for this video now. However the song in question for me was not the best experience. After the 3rd., 4th. time I Tossed the Cassette into the trash. It was Annoying and looking into that Huge Yabo with the stupid leather top hat, just made me sick. I could tell they were L-bo's, but that didn't bother me. It's just the same as other people's opinion that if Ya don't like a song, a sound, it just will not work. It's an 'each to their own' kind of deal. That being said, I'm impressed that Pink's break out song was penned by Perry. I'm certain her talent will live on. And my opinion is not worthy of a negative response. It IS, what it IS. ( difference strokes for different folks, that's all)💚💛❤👊😎

The band's name says it all. You wouldn't expect a group named 4 Non-blondes to be glamorous, and they weren't. Ratty hair, ratty clothes, grimy faces. And Linda Perry's vocals were the very definition of shrill. I thought my ear drums would burst every time she got to the part of the chorus where she sang "Hey what's going on". Had to turn off the car radio many a time when that one came on the air. So glad they didn't last.

Linda Perry Rocks. I have " In Flight and After Hours" I went to see her live in Houston after she left 4-Non-Blondes. I can't remember much of either of the venues, but neither were really up to standards for a performer such as Ms.Perry. I was singing her songs as she was on stage and she came over the monitors and we sang together for a little while. If I had any talent she may have put the mike closer to me .lol. Got a couple of words after the last set. Then the next time she was in town she was hanging out after and she was signing stuff for folks ect. There was a couple of dudes ( mouthy, maybe too many shots ) she had strong boundaries with, so I thought I wouldn't get to talk with her and she said something to the effect of " Hey man come hear sit by me". I actually felt kinda cool.
