The original guitarist, Shauna went to the same high school I did even though she was gone by the the time I got there by a year or two. I wound up jamming with her in someone's garage and she was playing trumpet with me on drums. I met Wanda through a mutual friend and partied with her one night. Shauna and Wanda, the first drummer, were the two coolest members of the group and were into metal and hard rock. What resulted on their debut album was definitely altered almost beyond recognition from the demos I first heard.

It "was different than it is now" because nobody cared if a person was gay or not. Everyone knew they were gay but nobody cared. Sexuality doesn't define a person, it's not a persons entire identity, or make the person less talented. People knew this in the '80s and '90s, but the powers that be want you to think it was a major issue. If you grew up in the '80s (during the AIDS epidemic) you'd know what I'm talking about. All girl band with one hit song that got massive radio play and a lead singer wearing a top hat and goggles. They got their 15 minutes of fame, and 5 million albums sold. That's better than anyone could have predicted.

The band's name says it all. You wouldn't expect a group named 4 Non-blondes to be glamorous, and they weren't. Ratty hair, ratty clothes, grimy faces. And Linda Perry's vocals were the very definition of shrill. I thought my ear drums would burst every time she got to the part of the chorus where she sang "Hey what's going on". Had to turn off the car radio many a time when that one came on the air. So glad they didn't last.

Lesbians not staying together, imagine that. I saw a meme of what the lesbian representation float should be in a gay pride parade and it was a U-Haul truck.
@frankthespank2 жыл бұрын
@@The_child-catcher hahaha that’s messed up but funny as hell! But yeah, pretty much every lesbian couple I’ve ever known never stayed together. BTW they “have a baby together”, however that works.. but Sarah Gilbert actually had the baby (boy) and Linda Perry is like his legal guardian or something. I wonder now that they’re “separating” how that’s gonna work out.

@@MichaelKeelphotography ok define "hits" My point is that not many of them were "hits." She had 3 songs that were in the top 10 at different times. "Beautiful, Get the Party Started, and "keeps getting better." The song "beautiful" reached #2, the others reached 4 and 7 respectively.She did write a lot of songs for others and she is a decent song writer. However, I would not say there were "...so many hits..." Just sayin.

Linda Perry Rocks. I have " In Flight and After Hours" I went to see her live in Houston after she left 4-Non-Blondes. I can't remember much of either of the venues, but neither were really up to standards for a performer such as Ms.Perry. I was singing her songs as she was on stage and she came over the monitors and we sang together for a little while. If I had any talent she may have put the mike closer to me .lol. Got a couple of words after the last set. Then the next time she was in town she was hanging out after and she was signing stuff for folks ect. There was a couple of dudes ( mouthy, maybe too many shots ) she had strong boundaries with, so I thought I wouldn't get to talk with her and she said something to the effect of " Hey man come hear sit by me". I actually felt kinda cool.
