One of the biggest concerns with eating fish food is the potential for mercury contamination. The species that are most prone to mercury problems are big, old fish. Swordfish, tilefish, shark, and king mackerel, which are the fish most likely to contain large amounts of mercury. But if you like eating fish, wild-caught is generally better. Most farmed fish are raised in tightly packed, open-net pens often rife with parasites and diseases that threaten the wild fish trying to swim by to their ancestral spawning waters. Farmed salmon are fed fish meal, given antibiotics to combat diseases and have high levels of PCBs. It is important to note that mercury can be found in both farm-raised and wild-caught seafood due to industrial pollution that finds its way into lakes, rivers and oceans.

I just do not understand why non organic foods are sold in the first place, if organic foods are so much healthier. Why put the fake stuff on the shelf for anybody to consume?? Just make organic the norm and reasonably price it. Yes healthy food is an investment vs. an expense to some but I personally have spent $80 plus on a week's worth of produce and fresh vegetables. I can't do that every week. Wish I could.

@mdooms76 I was reading an article several months ago that basically stated it would be impossible to create enough crops to feed organic food to everyone on the planet. The whole reason that these other options were created in the first place was not only based on profit (though that is a real motivator for sure) but to yield more product. Organic crops are much more susceptible to pests and other factors that can significantly limit crop yield and hence the reason that organic cannot be made available to everyone. This is sadly the way that we have set up society - those who are wealthy will always have access to the best of the best, including food and all other sorts of wellness options.

As a consumer, you can't compare organic Vs non organic pound by pound. We're already too fat as it is, so I rather eat ONE organic strawberry than TEN non-organic... and keep my weight under control. Notice how "chunky" people are the ones who most often say "I can't afford organic"?

I hope people don’t get discouraged by this presentation. There is so much veg and fruit that doesn’t need to be organic. The best advice I heard in this clip is to check out the clean 15 and the dirty dozen at ewg.com, I think that’s the best way to decide for myself. I tend to buy the top 5 dirtiest, as organic, that helps my budget quite a bit! There are certain things like bell peppers I don’t eat often unless it’s one small ingredient in a big dish, then I buy it organic. It’s a treat. I rarely buy organic fresh tomatoes, but I can afford organic canned tomatoes. I buy organic strawberries between $2.50 and $2.99 a pound in season, then I don’t buy them out of season. The prices they showed in this clip were very high, and I live in a city with a high cost of living. It’s all about picking and choosing. He misspoke about organic meat. It is not necessary more humane. See certifiedhumane.org Last thing. He said meat is full of hormones. I wish he had been more specific. That’s cows. It’s illegal to add hormones to poultry and pigs, and has been for a long time. So labels that “No hormones added” is just advertising.
