Hey Mike, Just had my interview today, wore a suit, prepared folders to hand out to officers with my resume, 2 letters of Rec and a business card in each. Was asked about 5 questions that I had prepared for best I can. Answered them while looking at them in the eye and unfortunately did realize I used a lot of Ums and ahs so I Felt I didn’t do perfectly, but did decent enough maybe. Shook each of their hands, thanked them, and left. Passed 2 fellow applicants waiting in the hall and wished them best of luck, and they reciprocated so we will see. 🤞🏼 Total time, 9 minutes. My Hands were like fire hydrants the entire time, so I’m glad I brought a handkerchief to handle that 😂 Thank you Mike for all the help in preparing me!!! 🙏 eternally grateful for the work you do!

I work 48/96 and I've found fasting to be really helpful. Seems like there's always donuts/candy/etc around the station and it makes it easy to turn them down if i know im not eating at that time. I usually dont eat til dinner the 1st day on shift and then dont eat til lunch on day 2. It's been working well and im getting leaner.

I usually do intermittent fasting on shift but, I have trouble hitting my protein intake sometimes. I’m on a cutting phase and shooting to get 200g of protein at around 2200-2300 cals to help preserve muscle while being in such an aggressive deficit.

yo good info, I've been able to intermittent fast since collage. i lost a good bit of weight after high school using by doing it. iv been on a volunteer fire department for almost 7 years. now me and my girlfriend are about to get a house in the state capital area, with lots of bigger fire departments around. I really don't want to be done firefighting yet. i just got my Driver operator cert. next thing is to either get some EMS training or maybe get my second Associates degree for fire fighting this time. figure to try using my current experience and getting in part time if possible and doing what they need me to to move up from there. any recommendations for Volunteer Fire fighters that have asperations to move up the ladder to part/ full time fire service?

I don't really ever eat breakfast for the last 10yrs. A fulfilling meal about 11am and one around 7pm. Maybe snack items here n there to tide me over.

Topic ideas, how does natural things such as rain, snow, wind, earthquakes, ect affect the job at hand. Also are there hand signs firefighters use? I know first hand gas masks are hard to talk/yell through, plus out side noises, communication can be rough

hey so im taking my emt course and plan on applying right after to be a firefighter. only one downside is i’m from california and next year my partner and i decided to move to philly which is on the other side of the US. would i be able to carry over my emt or would i have to re do the process all over again? thanks in advance!!! i love your page it’s been helping me study a lot and prepare myself ahead of time as i get closer to applying and giving it my all!

Call the PA Fire Marshal's office and ask them about reciprocity - they should be able to give you a definitive answer.
