You lie. Jesus never once claimed to be God. He claimed to be the Messiah, which is what each of the four gospels says, and that is why certain Pharisees wanted him executed. Jesus claimed to have a God (John 20:17) whom he literally called "the only true God." You are teaching a false Christ. The title "Christ" literally means "anointed." God is the one who anointed Jesus. God _made_ Jesus Lord and Christ. - Acts 2:36 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. -1 Tim. 2:5 Jesus' God (John 20:17, Rev. 1:6, 3:12, Acts 3:13, Rom. 15:6, 1 Cor. 8:6, 11:3, 2 Cor. 1:3, 11:31, Eph. 1:3, Col. 1:3, 1 Tim. 2:5, 1 Pet. 3:1) is the only true God.

“it is a characteristic of our age that if people want any gods at all, they want them to be gods who do not demand much, comfortable gods, smooth gods who not only don’t rock the boat but don’t even row it, gods who pat us on the head, make us giggle, then tell us to run along and pick marigolds.11 Talk about man creating God in his own image! Sometimes-and this seems the greatest irony of all-these folks invoke the name of Jesus as one who was this kind of “comfortable” God. Really? He who said not only should we not break commandments, but we should not even think about breaking them. And if we do think about breaking them, we have already broken them in our heart. Does that sound like “comfortable” doctrine, easy on the ear and popular down at the village love-in? And what of those who just want to look at sin or touch it from a distance? Jesus said with a flash, if your eye offends you, pluck it out. If your hand offends you, cut it off.12 “I came not to [bring] peace, but a sword,”13 He warned those who thought He spoke only soothing platitudes. No wonder that, sermon after sermon, the local communities “pray[ed] him to depart out of their coasts.”14 No wonder, miracle after miracle, His power was attributed not to God but to the devil.15 It is obvious that the bumper sticker question “What would Jesus do?” will not always bring a popular response. At the zenith of His mortal ministry, Jesus said, “Love one another, as I have loved you.”16 To make certain they understood exactly what kind of love that was, He said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments”17 and “whosoever … shall break one of [the] least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be … the least in the kingdom of heaven.”18 Christlike love is the greatest need we have on this planet in part because righteousness was always supposed to accompany it. So if love is to be our watchword, as it must be, then by the word of Him who is love personified, we must forsake transgression and any hint of advocacy for it in others. Jesus clearly understood what many in our modern culture seem to forget: that there is a crucial difference between the commandment to forgive sin (which He had an infinite capacity to do) and the warning against condoning it (which He never ever did even once).

When you go and help people you are going to be seen by other people. Jesus didn’t say go have a religious circle jerk on the Internet. Or pray in public just to show off because you can do that stuff in your mind. Is this presenter informing people where and how they can help? Telling people where he volunteered that’s not bragging necessarily that could be just telling people good quality ways to help others. Jesus said whatever you do to the smallest you do to him. He said to feed and cloth them, I don’t think he ever said to pray for people. Why not at least comfort people by calling them on the phone? People that are shut in or sick. Meals on wheels is a great way to help older people get a hot meal. If these videos don’t lead to real action and help for people, loving help, point? Just to feel good? There's a reason that there is now a "revised" version of the gospel that states a "believer" can continue living the same life of willful sin that they have their entire life after being "saved". Not sure where they get that from reading scripture, but it's a thing that's being taught (on the internet at least).
@ELivingstone
@ELivingstone Ай бұрын
I think the idea is that we are going to sin time and time again regardless of how much we try to not, but it is left out that you actually have to try to change still, it’s not just once your saved that automatically you can sin however much you want, it’s not the sinning that’s the problem it’s the attitude towards it. If that makes sense?

The church today is laser focused on certain sins like homosexuality while turning a blind eye to many others. Certain people who struggle with certain sins are held to a higher standard than others that the Bible addresses much more thoroughly. The church in general right now is blinded by it's pursuit of political power in America. Any sin is tolerable if tolerating it gets people elected who will criminalize homosexuality, which Jesus never addressed personally that we know of.

I really love the comment about doing His will instead of ours. A big take that I have on life is that people are very selfish in general. You need to surrender to the idea that your needs are really not that important in the scheme of things. God and the needs of others are critical. One good example of how the churches are even off are Christians that are picky about churches due to their youth program, music, etc.

Many people don’t like Jesus is because he overthrew the authority of the religious status quo and exposed their hypocrisy. And does so to this day! Secondly, Jesus was not a respecter of person’s, he unabashedly told it like it was. Truth hurt’s! Third, and this honestly scares me the coward that I am, he said that we will face persecution and even death for following him!😮 Finally, Jesus and the word exposes the false teachings of tradition that people not only held in the day, but even now! There’s the Bible and then there’s everything else. Sola scriptura! When we are told that we need to fall and break upon the rock of Christ, we all too often want to put a foam mattress over it! That’s not good enough, the Christian religion to the unrepentant sinner is very hard, but Jesus also says to take upon his yoke for it is easy, it is easy because if we fully follow him he gives us the power and strength to endure to the end! Amen

Hey, Concordant reader here. Jesus was "unpopular" because of two distinct reasons that are provided by the canonized writ. 1) He was prophesied in the Jewish religion as to be "hated" and "pierced by our iniquities". This is written mostly in the OT books of Zechariah and Isaiah. 2) Jesus was considered a heretic amongst the rabbinical hierarchy in the First century AD. A lot of ideals Jesus spoke about, nobody knew or didn't understand, as well as some things spoken from him are mysterious today. His shared ideals went against the Religion of Judaism in his time mostly for a couple of reasons. What most people fail to understand is that Jesus's physical time here on earth was for Jewish people. It was only after his resurrection that he began to evangelize a bigger crowd. (Most of the book Acts is actually for the sojourner/Jew who lived in the regions outside of Isreal) Acts 28 is where things take a turn and the Gentile is included into the message of God. And what is that said message? That Jesus Died for the sins of the world, and will lay subject all of creation to God, who has made peace with all mankind. (Read Colossians 1:20, 1st Timothy 4:10, and Ephesians as well) Sure, we can try to understand Jesus in the flesh, but we often misconstrue his words for modern meanings and myths instead of accepting the truth that he was in fact, a Jewish leader for Jewish people. It isn't until Acts 28 that Paul, the last apostle of God's message, that Gentiles are taken into the fold of God's proclamation given through the Jews. So, realistically, we can only expect the best answers to all our needs and wants found within his letters....

In ancient times, there was no unemployment insurance. No retirement fund. If you were an old, tired man, you had to come up with a hustle, and fast! Everybody knew about the "Sacred Knowledge" that was circulating all over the Empire. Old men called "Wandering Holy Men" were in every corner of the Mediterranean. Every town had a resident Wandering Preacher, who carried scrolls under his arms. Such men were in great demand. The wealthy loved to invite them into their parlors, so they could watch and hear their wild stories, about demons, and angels, and mighty heroes who fought for "Salvation". They often sang, and danced around, while reading their poems. A crippled old man could make a decent living at it! By the time the 4th Century rolled around, hundreds of "Gospels" had accumulated within the Empire. It was time somebody collected them, and tried to make coherent sense of them. Constantine ordered a "cannon" be put together. About 80% of these fables were discarded, or destroyed. The "Holy Trinity" had to be quickly invented, so as to prevent "Christians" from being accused of Blasphemy. In no time, we had a new religion centered around a "Man-God" who violated the First Commandment. But the Jews immediately condemned it all. They had strict control over their "Holy Scrolls". And so you see in all the process, lots of old men got room and board, and we got our "Holy Christ Savior"!

1:25 You know that quote is absolutely true but how I see it is steered more towards believers who think that just by being believers is enough to go to heaven. One could also argue that it indirectly says that unbeliever who tries to love their neighbour and work for the betterment of humanity is more valuable in the eyes of God and Jesus than believer who doesn't do this things. I mean God has ultimately the last word, not the Bible, right? However I realize this is a bit of a stretch as you can not directly deduce this POV from the verse mentoned...
