My 10 year old son who I see once a week started watching pokemon about a year ago, he has watched all the seasons and movies, he recently was gifted a 3 pack of Scarlet Violet Paradox Rift, so we went online to look at the card list and the other collections, he immediately decided he also wanted to collect 151 besides paradox rift, the only reason he is staying with PR is because he already has them. It's been 25 years since my first starter deck, I only played them for about 3 years of my life but now I'm also excited of collecting 151 with him.

I was there as a kid playing the original Pokemon on release (I got Red, my brother got Blue) and the original 151 are my realm. I know or care about very few other Pokemon outside of the 151. I have bought and opened a decent amount of 151 and am leaving some sealed. Still trying to accumulate more but they've already shot up in price a lot. Solid video as always.

I never got into Pokemon when I was younger. Though I collected many cards around 92'...sports cards. I checked my MJ cards and it was crazy high on value money wise. I'm a sucker for shiny cards and since I never got intonPokemon, the 151 is perfect since it's the original characters. I'm 48yrs old now and I'm trying to complete the set...it's never too late.

The original 151 will always have a huge unparalleled nostalgia factor and I'm not saying this will compete but Pokemon TCG would do well to piggyback on the 151 craze by releasing a Gen 2 era "Johto Heroes". Those first two regions/generations etc are kind of tied together a little in some our nostalgia. I'm not saying that a set that focused on those 100 Johto pokemon would have the same craze factor as 151 but as someone who is just trying to work out what kind of collector I want to be, being someone who collects the Pokedex numbers 1-251 is quite an attractive option for me and I'd love a 152-251 set.

People keep saying that the Booster Bundles are the way to go but mathematically, buying 4 tin cases (A box = 80 packages) for same price as a Booster Bundle Case (60 packages) gives you 20 more packages. Why are never influencers talking about that?

Because it’s 5x harder to move the tins when it’s time to sell. No one’s looking to buy 5 tins , they want the booster bundles, the booster boxes , the upcs! It might mathematically make sense at first but when you try to sell the maths going to flip and make it mathematically better to have bought and sold booster boxes or anything besides the tins. 🤷‍♂️ it is what it is.

This set is huge because it reminds people who started from the beginning. Red and blue, topps, the animated tv series with Ash, and the 1st pokemon set(base set) in 1999.

5:27 this is the truest true that has ever been true. I've quit runescape at least 10 times, sometimes for years at a time... but I always come back eventually. Nothing else scratches that itch. I'm mining amythist right now on 1 account and fishing anglers on the other 😂

I also just saw Pokerev's newest video about these stackable tins that are coming out. inside it has various packs from scarlet and violet but no 151. Makes me think are there any specialty products that have 151 packs in them? I dont believe so. Im not sure how print runs work but if they arent including 151 packs inside these products with other SV packs then wouldnt that lean more towards them not printing anymore 151?

For sure. Well that’s the big question. We never know when a reprint will happen. Reprints have tanked sets in the past, look at Lost Origin last year! However too early to tell and it’s only a little bit older than 6 months as a set. So it’s a very difficult call at the moment.

I 100% agree. a box of XY evolutions is in the $800's and doesnt have original art. pokemon 151 does. Some kids when you talk to them I heard prefer modern over vintage since the artwork is too plain in vintage for them. So 151 brings in older fans with the nostalgia and younger fans with the artwork. And on top of this there is the new masterball holo pattern which is only 1 in every booster box and only in Japanese so if your afraid of any excess prints I think the masterball holos will be less affected by that

100% and yeah the unique artworks make such a difference for this set. Evolutions was a copy&paste base set and it performed so well. Pokémon 151 has its own flavour!

Awesome video! But I feel like to forgot one of the mane reason that will drive this set. This is the first Pokemon TCG set ever where you can “catch em all “ As someone show grew up in the 90s playing blue and red versions on the game boy I never understand why Pokemon didn’t put the cards in order like the Pokédex. Kinda made completing master sets not so fun for me. But now we can. This is big!

You can get Mew on Red/Blue & Yellow with not too difficult a glitch, similar to how you could dupe items with the Missingno glitch. It's a shame that KZbin wasn't a thing in 1997, Internet was barely a thing lol

Japanese 151 already stopped printing, hence the price is starting to go up now. a booster box will cost you $200 alr

Yes even better than English when the set can pull god packs the value of a set is much higher. Because of the possible gambling pay off of several chase cards. About 500 in value depending on the newly released set

I sometimes kinda jokingly say that imo there are only 151 real Pokemon. I was born in the late 80s and Kanto was the OG Pokemon experience for me. Ironically the first game I actually owned and played was Gold, so my actual first experience was the first 251 Pokemon, but I still have a special kind of attachment to the first 151.

151 will suck for a very long time.... Mark my words. Everybody is sitting on high prices with endless amounts of supply for much cheaper prices. Maybe in 10 years plus it will make some gains but i doubt it. Imagine how many new and maybe a lot better sets will be out

Its a great set but pokemon seems to be running out of ideas. Its either charizard or some of the originals that people want. The new pokemon are terrible. Kinda scary that they still can't do anything but recycle the old mons
