You guysvare great. I'm 41 I started working out seriously last May I go 6 days a week for the last 7 months, my arms are about 18 inches and my 6 pack is starting to come in, your video's have been a incredible asset to me, thank you. FYI I workout at home with a bench some dumbbells and an easy curl bar that's it.

So true. When I lightened the weight, went 15-20 reps focusing on good negatives my legs went to the next level. For hamstrings pointed toe leg curls with a 3sec eccentric and squeeze at the top brought out the "peak" in my hamstrings. Got that from the late John Meadows 5+ yrs ago. Now my hams fill out the back of my shorts and balance my quads thanks to John's tip. All heavy weight did was tear up my knees and leave me sore for to long. A novel stimulus is all you need to grow.

@@dg9015 still doing the same thing. Logging each workout and adding 2.5lbs once I get to 15-16 reps. Got to keep increasing the resistance in that rep range as I make progress. Logging certainly has helped me add strength and size as I progress through my competition rebound phases.

My legs grew when I started doing split squats and kettlebell swings. Going to failure often results in back strain. Volume may be better.
@mikeford4089 Жыл бұрын
Not only can going to failure cause a muscle strain or tear, it's just too demanding on your immune system. Especially so, if you have average to below average recovery ability. Going to failure left me feeling chronic fatigue and ultimately gave me shingles.
@hicoteo Жыл бұрын
@@mikeford4089 I hear you. At 58 recovery is not what it was and nerves tingle for days after leg exercises. I like taking a week off now and then. It seems to help in the long run.

I love warming up by super setting leg extensions and lunges. Solid pump if you do it slow and controlled. Then I squat. Feels amazing. Then you can add in all the little accessory stuff.

I’ve been at it for a few years now and in the beginning of working out I saw some growth, naturally, but now after 2 years and consistently going to the gym plus bulking and hitting legs twice a week with high reps, I legit see no growth.. it’s either crazy body dysmorphia or I’m fucking up somewhere…

My schedule is Mon-Chest/back, Tue-Legs, Wed-Arms (also leg-press), Thu-Triceps, Fri-Abs, Sat-Leg Press. On the two leg-press days When I get to 14 plates I am no longer going deep and I go less deep until 22 plates. A couple days ago I did 40 short reps at that 1,000LB level. I can't do the classic squat with even two plates because my upper body is just not made that way. I think perhaps I injured the right shoulder when playing softball decades ago. On my Tuesday leg day I do 400LB on a seated leg-press, an adduction machine, an abduction machine, standing calf raises, seated calf pushes, single-leg curls, two-leg curls. I injured my C3-C4 and C4-C5 discs so I stay away from the leg-machines that put pressure on the traps. At my age I'm just trying to stay healthy so I'm not trying to do anything competitive.

@kingadjust6201 Жыл бұрын
@@Mvgical just watch KZbin videos on proper form I personally do barbell hack squats which are definitely safer I'm a beginner myself deadlifts are another favorite of mine those 2 movements will be enough for the quads, and hamstrings 😎👍

@mikejames1080 yeah or those but standard deadlifts work multiple other muscle groups better than the RDL

Physically can’t do either of those, nor will ever be able to, so it’s not a universal answer, unfortunately
@darrylhudson2182 Жыл бұрын
@kiddiekid8 you should be able to ask a trainer to critique your form. If they can't even do that one thing it might be time to change gyms.

@asprinklingofclouds Жыл бұрын
The smith machine is excellent, you just have to know how to set up your leg position properly for your body type. You can target the quads more effectively than the free weight squat.
@ironsaint Жыл бұрын
The smith machine is garbage. It forces you to an unnatural m,movement. The body does not go up and down in a perfect plane.
