My daughter can be hard on herself when she makes a mistake (I'm sure my past parenting "style" induced some of this), but I try to react better by being calm and explaining the lesson she's learning and to focus on learning from that instead of being hard on herself and being negative about it in an unhealthy manner. Steps in the right direction is key. Now, she catches me and says "well now you've learned a lesson" and stays calm which instantly remind me to take a breath and calm down.

What do you do when you child ignores you and will not respond at all a total shut down...they went to their calm down place knowing the next step after they get calm fell asleep still there after 2 hours and I am stuck which how to proceed in thos moment....I really need help

Sorry to hear this is a pattern. Sometimes you have to model what it is like to talk about making mistakes. So when they aren't in trouble, share with your child about how you used to get in trouble or frustrated about something, and then overcame it. Remind them of that story when they are in the calm down spot next time.

I have been binging these videos and purchased the book (I find the videos much easier to understand and follow at this point, but I'm looming forward to reading the book for details and checking back after I've watched more videos!) One of my questions though @nicholeenpeck,is as part of the Follow Instruction checklist. The child or teen does the job and checks back, however they didn't truly do the job well or they did it half heartedly, or they did it wrong... Do you still praise? Do you go and do it correctly together, and then praise? What if they do it with a bad attitude? Do you still praise?
